A 20-meter hose fitted with 25 spray nozzles pumped cold groundwater to create a cooling mist, releasing up to 16 cubic meters of water per hour. The installation lowered the surrounding temperature by around 12°C, inviting pedestrians to walk through the mist to cool off. The event came as daily water consumption across Cologne rises to approximately 310,000 cubic meters during periods of extreme heat.
