TWO LEADERS POSING FOR CAMERASLEFKOSA, TRNC - SEPT. 9, 2026: Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus President Tufan Erhurman met Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides in the United Nations-controlled buffer zone in Lefkosa on Wednesday, Sept. 9. The meeting was held at the residence of the UN secretary-general’s special representative. Talks began at 10.30 a.m. local time and lasted approximately one hour. Erhurman and Christodoulides agreed during their August meeting to hold direct talks once a week. A meeting planned for Wednesday, September 2, was postponed after a passenger ferry sank off the coast of Girne (Kyrenia).
