Storyline Chinese brands gain more international recognition Chinese brands are making waves with international visitors to China, but also on the shelves of stores abroad. Next-gen smartphones, glasses, and panoramic cameras draw crowds of both domestic and international shoppers at the world renowned tech market, Huaqiangbei in Shenzhen. Italian tourist: "There are a lot of technologies, too much information to process -- to be honest -- too many things. So, it's kind of difficult for me, but it's a good impression though." Chinese brands are becoming fashionable abroad, as well. Appliance makers say products like refrigerators with transparent windows are popular in Australia, while air conditioners that operate even when outdoor temperatures rise to 68 degrees Celsius are popular in the Middle East. Fang Xueyu, head, international marketing center, Hisense Group: "We have set up 30 research and development centers and 37 industrial parks and manufacturing bases worldwide to achieve local research and development and local production. This year, our overseas orders for smart home appliances have grown more than 20 percent." Recent data from the country's General Administration of Customs shows in Q1 China's exports rose nearly 12 percent year on year to over one trillion U.S. dollars.
