Storyline 'China Travel with Chinese Films' campaign boosts inbound tourism China's campaign to combine tourism with movies is boosting inbound tourism this year, data shows. The "China Travel with Chinese Films" promotion was launched in February to link movies with the real-world travel destinations. One of those places is Zhangjiajie, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in Hunan Province. You might recognize its towering quartz-sandstone pillars from James Cameron's Avatar. Also in the region, Tianmen Mountain continues drawing crowds, with data showing nearly 80,000 people have visited since July, a 53 percent year on year increase. Meanwhile, Dali in southwestern China’s Yunnan Province, and the Gobi Desert in northwest China’s Qinghai Province are also seeing an uptick foreign travelers. China’s strong summer tourism industry is driven in part by its expanded visa-free policies which was recently expanded by the National Immigration Administration to include citizens from 57 countries.
