Storyline AI night school in high demand in east China city A new sold-out event is attracting hundreds of participants every evening in eastern China's Nantong city: free night classes that teach people how to use AI to take their careers to the next level. Delivery workers, frontline employees, stay-at-home mothers, and all sorts of people are taking the classes to learn things like video production and content creation. Chen Si, Official, cadre education section, Organization Department, Chongchuan District Committee, Nantong City: "Currently, we offer courses on video editing, graphic production, AI basics, hands-on skills, and general introduction to AI. We also have both foundational and advanced levels." The city is collaborating with universities to train 300 "AI Promotion Officers," instructors who are not only proficient in AI technology but also skilled in promoting it. Bao Dongbin, Director of Vocational Capacity Building Division, Nantong Human Resources and Social Security Bureau: "We are innovatively conducting training for AI Promotion Officers to address the shortage of instructors in the process of popularizing AI. Our goal is to cultivate a group of professionals who possess AI thinking, can use AI tools, and are capable of promoting AI technology." According to data from China's National Data Administration, the country's average daily token calls surged from 100 billion in early 2024 to 140 trillion as of March this year.
