Storyline Abandoned factory complexes transformed into cultural attractions in China Across China, old factory complexes are being transformed into cafes, shops, art galleries and cultural centers, attracting thousands of visitors. In Jiangsu's Huai'an City, a 60-year-old printing factory is now home to over 80 businesses that have served about 1.9 million visitors to date. Zhang Chenyang, Visitor: "The culture and scenery here are great and very suitable for young people. I have visited this park many times." In Zhejiang's Shaoxing City, a cafe converted from a 35-year-old abandoned waterworks plant has become the most popular destination in the local village. People come to sip coffee, sample snacks and admire the scenery. Xu Hainan, Cafe manager: "We want visitors to see the natural surroundings in an industrial-style setting, enjoying a relaxing and stress-free time."
