According to the BC Wildfire Service, the Brunswick Creek wildfire has burned 3,194 hectares since it was discovered on July 2 and remains classified as "out of control," meaning it is spreading or is expected to spread beyond its current perimeter. Ground crews on the southeastern flank of the fire are working alongside heavy equipment operators, structure protection teams and aviation resources to slow its advance. Fire behavior analyst Cara Froese said hot, dry conditions, steep terrain and up-valley winds in the Fraser Canyon are contributing to increasingly intense fire behavior. She added that dry lightning and erratic winds could further complicate firefighting efforts. The BC Wildfire Service said multiple evacuation orders and alerts remain in effect around the wildfire, while protecting responders, the public, communities, structures and critical infrastructure remains the operation's top priority.
