New report claims Hamas is altering Gaza death toll

An organization dedicated to exposing anti-Israel media bias says the names of victims are slowly vanishing from Hamas' casualty list

Research by Honest Reporting highlights a discrepancy between the lists Hamas released in August and October of 2024 compared with the latest version in March of this year

The nonprofit says it's possible Hamas added names and changed the demographics of victims to inflate the data

The United Nations uses these figures from the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza for international reports

which receives attention in the media and generates political developments. Salo Eisenberg says 3,400 identified deaths, including 1,080 children, are no longer on the list

which he asserts is Hamas falsifying their records and lying about the number of casualties from the ongoing war

Another research group supports these claims. The Henry Jackson Society reported in December 2024

that there an error in the age and gender descriptions of those killed in civilian attacks or in combat Hamas says 70 percent of reported deaths were women and children but according to the current list that percentage is no longer accurate

As for Hamas soldiers, 72 percent of the fatalities are men between the ages of 13 and 55

Andrew Fox with the Henry Jackson Society believes neither the media nor government

organizations should be quoting Hamas' figures as fact due to the wide errors and possible

inflated numbers, saying Hamas isn't distinguishing between civilian and combatant deaths, while also including people who died before the war began in 2023

Fox also notes the method Hamas uses to compile their lists makes it easy to spread false

information. A public Google Doc allows anyone with a link to add names, which he says is not

verified or uploaded with additional evidence. Both organizations point out a computer outage

Gaza could be linked to the number Hamas is reporting, but it's unclear whether the November
