Tehran sets new demands to reopen Hormuz as Trump says US ‘low-keying’ negotiations

This morning, the United States and Iran can't even agree on whether they're negotiating

as Tehran sets out new demands to reopen the Strait of Hormuz

President Trump told Axios on Sunday the U.S. is now low-keying talks with Iran

saying the two sides are only, quote, semi-negotiating. Iran says there are no formal talks, only messages being exchanged through intermediaries

And Tehran is now demanding the U.S. lift its naval blockade, withdraw forces from around Iran, lift sanctions, unfreeze Iranian assets, and pay damages from the war before the strait fully reopens

Iran is also demanding a permanent end to the war against Iran and its allies

Vice President J.D. Vance, though, says talks are happening, and the immediate focus is getting more oil and gas through Hormuz

benchmark topped $78. And now another flashpoint, this one in the Red Sea. Iran-backed Houthi rebels

attacked the Yemeni port city of Mocha Sunday, killing at least seven people and injuring 30

others, according to Yemen's military. The attack used missiles and drones and hit both military
