into orbit. This morning, Starship will attempt its first ever orbital flight

The plan is to circle the planet six times, then splash down in the Pacific off the coast of Chile

about 10 hours after liftoff. And this thing is huge. Starship stands 407 feet tall
0:25
making it the biggest and most powerful rocket ever built. SpaceX designed it to be fully reusable, a key part of the company's plan for future missions to the Moon and Mars

Liftoff is scheduled from SpaceX's Starbase in Texas during a 75-minute window that opens at 8.15 Eastern this morning

And this isn't just a test of the rocket. If all goes as planned, Starship will also deploy 26 of SpaceX's new Starlink V3 satellites during the flight
