This morning, with less than 24 hours to go, a government shutdown is looking more and more likely

The Senate is still deadlocked, with a standoff mostly centered on health care

A White House meeting yesterday between President Trump and congressional leaders did little to break the logjam

Democrats are demanding an extension of health care subsidies, while Republicans want to extend current funding levels for another seven weeks

And though the government is still open, both sides are already pointing fingers

Democrats are fighting to protect the health care of the American people

And we are not going to support a partisan Republican spending bill

that continues to gut the health care of everyday Americans. Period. Full stop

This is purely and simply hostage taking. on behalf of the Democrats

The Republicans are united. House Republicans, Senate Republicans, President Trump. The House has passed a clean funding resolution

to fund the government until November the 21st. Vice President J.D. Vance, who was also at the meeting

said a shutdown now seems inevitable because, in his words, the Democrats won't do the right thing

To avoid a shutdown, Congress must get a bill to President Trump before midnight tonight

If a shutdown occurs, agency heads or managers must determine which personnel are essential

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announcing support for a U.S. brokered deal to end the war

Standing side by side at a White House press conference, the two leaders called it a path

to peace, even as major questions remain. I hope that we're going to have a deal for peace

and if Hamas rejects the deal, which is always possible, they're the only one left

Everyone else has accepted it, but I have a feeling that we're going to have a positive answer

The 20-point proposal includes an immediate ceasefire, hostage releases within 72 hours

and a phased Israeli pullout of Gaza if Hamas disarms and agrees to safe exile for its leaders

Netanyahu praised the plan with some caveats. Your plan provides a practical and realistic path forward for Gaza in the coming years

in which Gaza will be administered neither by Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority

but by those committed to a genuine peace with Israel. I think this can be not only a new beginning for Gaza

I think it can be a new beginning for the entire region. But Israel insists on keeping a long-term security presence in Gaza

and Hamas has not yet signed on to the offer. A senior official with the group told Al Jazeera the proposal, quote

leans toward the Israeli view, but says they'll review it in good faith

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad slammed the proposal as, quote, a recipe to blow up the region

While U.S. officials say it's the best shot yet at ending years of bloodshed

Trump said if Hamas does not accept the terms, Israel would have his full backing to finish the job of destroying Hamas

President Trump is adding more tariffs to the list, this time taking aim at wood, furniture

even movies On Monday President Trump signed a proclamation saying the U will start charging a 10 percent tariff on foreign software lumber and timber which are used in a wide variety of building materials He also announced a 25 percent tariff

on kitchen cabinets, vanities and upholstered wooden furniture. Those tariffs take effect

October 14th and go even higher in the new year, 50 percent on cabinets and 30 percent on furniture

starting January 1st. Industry ysts warn the moves could push up lumber costs and as a result

housing prices. And that's not all. In a truth social post, Trump said he will also impose a

100 percent tariff on any movie made outside the United States, claiming the movie making business

has been stolen from the U.S. A controversial ICE officer captured on video pushing a woman to the

ground outside an immigration court in New York is back on duty this morning, according to CBS News

Two officials familiar with the matter told CBS the officer was reinstated after a preliminary

review, despite an earlier statement from the Department of Homeland Security condemning the

conduct as unacceptable and denouncing the officer had been relieved of his duties pending an

investigation. The incident, which went viral last week, shows a visibly distraught Ecuadorian woman

confronting ICE officers as they detained her husband outside 26 Federal Plaza. In one clip

the officer is seen grabbing the woman's hair and later shoving her to the ground in front of

her children while repeatedly saying adios. YouTube has agreed to pay the Trump administration

$24.5 million to settle a lawsuit stemming from the platform suspension of Trump's account

following the January 6th Capitol riot. President Trump sued YouTube in 2021, claiming the ban

violated his First Amendment rights. The platform restored his account two years later in 2023

YouTube's parent company, Alphabet, called the claims meritless, arguing that being forced to host Trump's content would infringe on the platform's own rights

Under the settlement, $22 million will fund a new 90,000-square-foot ballroom at the White House

a personal priority for Trump along with restoration projects on the National Mall He called the settlement a massive victory Another billion will be distributed to other plaintiffs who claimed their YouTube accounts were unfairly

removed, including the American Conservative Union. Finally this morning, a blast from the

fast food past. McDonald's Monopoly is back, but this time it's gone digital. Oh, this is going to

be complicated, isn't it? After a 10-year hiatus, the beloved Monopoly game is making a comeback

at McDonald's. Just like before, order a menu item with a game piece, peel off the sticker

and see what you've won. But now you can scan your stickers into the McDonald's app to track

properties on a digital board or redeem prizes right from your phone. Some prizes are collect

to win, meaning you'll need a full color set. Others are instant winners. Yeah, yeah, I like

that. You give me a free fry, I'm going right back up to the counter and cashing it in

Anyways, the game officially kicks off Monday, October 6th, but pre-registration is open now in the McDonald's app

I mean, it does kind of rope you in. And I'm one of those type of people that I still think I have those subway cards where you collect eight stamps for a six-inch free sub

At 10, the new Consumer Confidence Report drops, along with the Labor Department's most recent look at job openings and turnover

Then, at 11.59 tonight, two big deadlines. Congress must pass a funding bill to avoid a government shutdown

And it's also the last day to lock in a $7,500 federal tax credit on new electric vehicles before the tax break expires on October 1st
