President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping didn't settle all their differences last week
0:07
but they did come away with a deliverable. Two giant pandas are now in Atlanta
0:12
Pingping and Fu Shuang arrived Sunday morning aboard the FedEx Panda Express
0:18
and they're now settling into their new home at Zoo Atlanta. Zoo officials say they've expanded the panda facilities
0:24
and they're making sure there's plenty of local bamboo on the menu. We collaborated with our colleagues from the panda base to make our facilities bigger
0:34
So we make more space for pandas. We also want to ensure that they have good food, good bamboo
0:41
So we're collecting a lot of bamboo from the Atlanta area to make sure that they have plenty of food to eat
0:49
The two arrivals bring giant pandas back to Atlanta for the first time since the zoo's last four returned to China in 2024
0:56
And yes, this is another round of what's long been called panda diplomacy
1:01
China has used the bears for decades as a gesture of goodwill, and Xi called this pair
1:06
envoys of friendship between the Chinese and American people. You'll have to wait a little while to meet them
1:12
Ping Ping and Fuxuong will spend about a month in quarantine, and the zoo hasn't announced
1:18
their public debut just yet. Once they're out, though, they'll have plenty of time to get comfortable
1:23
They're on loan to Atlanta for the next 10 years. And as an addition, we can't see them just yet, but Zoo Atlanta has already set up a
1:32
panda cam, something you'll want to bookmark for when they make their debut
