FCC chair says MSNBC misled public about Abrego Garcia

FCC Chair Brendan Carr is taking aim at Comcast-owned MSNBC and NBC

accusing them of distorting coverage in a controversial immigration case. Carr says the networks spent days misleading the American public

in their reporting on Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran immigrant who was in the country

illegally and wrongly deported to an El Salvador prison, according to the Trump administration

Carr wrote on X

pose a danger to others. Why does Comcast ignore these facts of obvious public interest

The FCC chair stopped short of announcing a formal investigation while scolding its practices

While President Trump did not mention Abrego Garcia he also condemned Comcast and its leadership on Tuesday a day prior to the FCC chair scolding Trump posted on Truth Social Comcast is trying to stay away from

lawsuits by disassociating NBC from MSNBC, but it won't work. Comcast, the owner of both

and its chairman, Brian Roberts, are a disgrace to the integrity of broadcasting

This is not the first time President Trump has criticized major news networks

Back in 2017, he called for NBC's broadcast license to be challenged over what he called fake news

And just last year, he pushed for CBS to lose its license over an edited interview with Vice President Kamala Harris

Critics say moves to revoke media licenses could threaten freedom of the press

while supporters argue networks should be held accountable for unfair or incomplete reporting

In the case of Abrego Garcia, that story coverage is still ongoing

as Maryland Democrats continue to push for his return to the U.S

even as the Trump administration insists he will not be coming back
