The Department of Homeland Security says they're reviewing a mistake that resulted in deportation warnings being sent to several U.S. citizens

One of them, Pamela Riola Saeed, a lawyer based in Tucson, Arizona, said she received the email on April 11th from an official DHS address

The message told her she had seven days to leave the country. Riola Saeed shared the email with the news outlet The Arizona Republic and says some of her clients received the same notice that day

informing them their parole had been terminated. Similar reports came from other attorneys in states like Ohio and Massachusetts

all who work with immigration and naturalization cases. The attorneys suspect their names or email addresses could have been tied to paperwork

used in the asylum process after their clients were paroled in the U.S

Here's a look at the email from a law firm in Ohio. It begins by saying it is time for you to leave the United States

and ends emphasizing the federal government will fine them if they don't depart the U.S. immediately

The owner of the law firm writes, According to Customs and Border Protection the emails were intended for migrants who no longer have legal status and some unintended recipients may have also received it A spokesperson said CBP used the

known email addresses of the alien to send notifications. If a non-personal email

such as an American citizen contact, was provided by the alien, notices may have been sent to

unintended recipients. CBP is monitoring communications and will address any issues on a case-by-case basis. The CBP One app was a key tool in the immigration process during the

Biden administration. The app allowed undocumented migrants to request entry appointments before

reaching the border. Through those appointments, officials screened individuals to determine if

they may be eligible to seek asylum. The American Immigration Council says in the summer of 2023

CBP-1 had become the primary way for asylum seekers to legally present themselves at U.S

ports of entry. The Trump administration now uses the app as a way for immigrants to self-deport
