Dangerous heat wave hits the US with highs exceeding 100 degrees

Well, we have an intense heat wave expected to hit the central and eastern parts of the U.S. this week

with humidity expected to make what will already be scorching temperatures feel a lot worse

So far, more than 100 million Americans across the South and Great Plains are under moderate to severe heat risk conditions

But the National Weather Service says that'll expand as the heat intensifies throughout the week

Forecasters say several days of high temperatures, topping 100 degrees in some places

will settle in across the lower Great Lakes, the Mid-Atlantic, and the Mississippi and Ohio River Valleys

And those temps climb well into the 90s and low 100s, potentially setting records

High humidity will push the feels-like temperatures as high as 115 degrees in some places

And nighttime is not expected to provide much relief. Well, it might be a holiday week, but experts say it'd be best to spend a lot of that time

inside if you have A.C. and stay hydrated. Several cities across the affected regions are setting up cooling centers for those

who need a break from the heat
