And I decided to finally take the plunge and actually try it out for the first time

in my two-year journey with trying to fix my strabismus. So I'm here to give you an honest

opinion about how it is, if I, what the things that I love about Vivid Vision, the things that

I really could do without with Vivid Vision, the things that I, you know, I could, yeah, aren't my

favorite. And I want to give that review because if you go and search for a review of Vivid Vision

an optometry office that was like saying, hey, come do Vivid Vision at our office or Vivid Vision's

website itself. And not that those opinions are wrong, but I just wanted to hear from someone who

actually tried it. So that's what I'm here to give you today. So I am 34 years old. I did vision

therapy for about a year and ended up having strabismus surgery a few months ago. And now I'm

back to doing vision therapy again. And now this is the first time I've ever done vision therapy

or sorry, Vivid Vision is, I've been doing it for about five weeks now. So, um, give like a quick

brief thing about what Vivid Vision is. It's a virtual reality program. So you are a virtual

reality headset and it's got remotes and there's a bunch of different games inside this program

And essentially someone who had strabismus realized that virtual reality technology could

be used to help treat starbismus. So he developed all these really cool games and settings that could

be used so that only one eye could see like certain parts of the game or one eye is blurred or

there are different games where you have to either cross your eyes, convert your eyes more or

diverge your eyes more. So there are nine different games and each one of them is a little bit

different, you know, works different skills and has different adjustments that can be made

I started So I going to just throw in a quick clip right now of you know what one of the games looks like It called Bubbles So you can hook it up to your tv and cast what you seeing on the headset onto the tv so that what you

trying to pop the bubble that's closest but within that one game you can make it so the bubbles are

far away so you have to really reach to get to them or that they're close you can make it so

they're further apart from one another and i love that you can turn around and have different

backgrounds that really helps me um as i'm trying to use both eyes it helps to have like an

interesting background i guess it helps me figure that out so the things that i love about livid

vision um first there's a huge variety of games there's nine different games that's actually really

good. You know, there's only one other product out there and it only has a couple games and that

works similar things for Strabismus, you know, that are effective for me. So I love that there's

so many games because part of this program is that you're expected to do it every day if you're doing

the home version. And it can get really old when it's the exact same game over and over again. So

I love there's a variety of games. I love all the different settings that there are. It's incredible

Like if you look at the screen that the doctor sees, there's like 10 adjustments for every

single game. Like, okay, I want the left eye to do this and the right eye to do this. And I want the ball to be seen with the right eye and the paddle to be seen with the left

And I want this to be in the background. And I want there to be a whole bunch of distractions in the environment

Okay, no, I don't want any distractions in the environment. I want the rings to be really small

I want the rings to be really big. So there's just like seriously infinite possibilities of how to arrange the settings

And what's cool is when you start, you can actually change it so that each eye is seen

So I guess I should start. Virtual reality has a different screen for each eye

So each eye is looking at a different screen. And so one of the cool settings in Vivid Vision is that you can move it so that if my eye is pointing out here

they can kind of move it so that my eyes are looking at the same thing, I guess. It's like a prism

they add prism into the game and you can start out with a lot of prism so let's say that my eye

was turned out 35 degrees which is what it was before all of this started and

so that was me with my lazy eye before I started vision therapy so my eye is clear out here right

and so the idea is with vivid vision is you start it out so that both eyes are looking at the same

things. So they do a 35 degree adjustment inside the game. And over time, as I'm able to master

using both eyes with that prism, over time, they can move the prism in. And so eventually

I don't need the prism at all. And my eyes can eventually see together when both eyes

sorry, if both images are straight in front of me instead of having that prism. So it's really cool technology. I mean, like, so versatile. Like, I don't know, it's so cool. I

can imagine trying to do vision therapy without this sort of a program or why you would want to do vision therapy and not include this as a part of the package The games are engaging I already said that The environment like it

really good graphics considering what it is. I mean, it's not the same as some of these like

apps on the VR that are like insane, but it's pretty dang good. It's very

it's for me as someone who struggles with using both eyes together, I can, I can put those images

together. I think it does a really good job of that. Another thing I love about vivid vision

is that they've actually done research on it. There's not very much vision therapy that has

is research backed just because it's really hard to do research on this sort of a therapy

But there is research done with vivid vision and it does work. It's science backed. I love that. I'm

math education major in college. I like to see the science. So I love that. And another thing

is that I feel like virtual reality is pretty much not the best tool, but like one of the best

tools for vision therapy. You know, when you go to your in-office visits and they do all these

different things, I feel like virtual reality is huge. And to be able to take that home with you

and do that every single day instead of once a week or every other week, depending on how often

you're going makes such a huge difference and it's made a huge difference for me. Since I've

started, I've gone from not being able to use my eyes together hardly at all. I mean, I just

struggled so much. I was getting really bad headaches the first couple of times that I did

vivid vision. And within five weeks, I am now seen with stereopsis, like often. I can almost

suit on command and it's huge. I can use both my eyes together. So it's a pretty incredible

program and to be able to use it at home is a huge deal. I highly recommend doing like the home

version. It's good to do it in the office too, but vision therapy is expensive. So in my mind

whatever I can do to speed up the process and make my home exercises more effective so that I don't

have to go for as long. I'm going to do anything that I can to get that. So now some of the things

that I'm not a huge fan of with vivid vision, there are things that I don't love about it

One is the cost. So expensive. When you're already paying for like weekly vision therapy appointments

who knows that could be $500 to $1,000 a month depending on where you live and where you go to

vision therapy and vivid vision is going to add on to that. It depends on who you go through. You

have to go through an optometrist or an ophthalmologist and it kind of depends on how much

they choose to charge for it because they have to manage, you know, your subscription and change all

those settings and do all that. So it kind of depends on how much they choose to charge, but

I think you can plan on a minimum of about four to five hundred dollars every three months just

And that's just for the program. That's not paying your optometrist anything

So I don't know, probably more like six or 700. So that's a lot to me, you know, even if it's $200 a month on top of what you're already

paying, it's expensive. Yeah it worth it but I still don like it I it it you know I love it be cool if it was free but then they wouldn make money So I get I get why they charge that much but it still expensive Um you also can use it without

an optometrist. And again, I get why they do this. They have to, they have to, you know

they don't want people suing them and all that, but someone who's like

you know, probably going to be needing to do some sort of vision therapy for the rest of my life

I don't always want to be paying an optometrist a fee every month. Like once I've done my vision

therapy, I would love the option to continue to do vivid vision forever. You know, something that

I do a couple times a week to just keep my eyes working the way that they're supposed to. So

I do wish that they had some sort of an option for that. Um, another thing, this is so silly

These are all so petty. Like it's an amazing program, but, um, I wish that some, like once

you do like what happens is your provider will say okay I want her to play these six games in

this order each for five minutes and so it's completely set you go in there and it just takes

you through those six games for the time that they set and there's no like menu where you can pick a

specific game if you're like oh I really want to work on that game a little bit more you can't do

that so I again I understand why they do it because a lot of times it's kids using this program they

They'd probably not be picking the games that they really needed to be doing. But as an adult, I'm like, I want that option

I want to be able to pick the game that I want to do. And that's pretty much it

I mean, one thing, it's not necessarily a limitation, but just something to know if you're doing Vivid Vision or thinking about trying it

It's not like a one-stop shop. It's a really great tool and a great part of vision therapy

but another really important part is actually learning how to use both your eyes in like the

real world and not in virtual reality. And so you still need to be doing like the in-office vision

therapy and exercises outside of virtual reality to really train your eyes to work together. So it

isn't a one-stop shop and I just thought I would mention that. But despite those things that maybe

bug me a little bit about Vivid Vision, it is honestly like an incredible product. Like I just

love the person who created this. It's so amazing that he realized, you know, he had strabismus and
