Let friends, neighbors know where to go when it's time to tune in. Now it's here
0:30
I said, I am. We're going to talk about this one way or another
0:43
The truth and the reality. Come on with it. Yep. Ain't no party, but a cowboy party
0:58
What about a Law Nation's Groove reality talk, baby? Come on with it
1:15
Come on with it. Mama said there'll be days just like this
1:28
D.I. Love Shout out to you Come on with it
1:37
For glory We're approaching the 11 o'clock Time slot for
1:50
The Presser It'll be on 105.3 The Fan I believe As well as
1:58
the cowboys youtube page come on with it five four three two and i'm telling you one
2:16
all right good morning good afternoon and good evening appreciate everybody for jumping in
2:26
the Cowboys are on their 10th head coach and
2:36
the nation is divided to a point that people want someone to be angry and upset
2:44
and you shouldn't be angry and upset this is the Dallas Cowboys
2:49
this is what they do right now there are people that refute the truth and they say all those are just excuses
3:03
No, these are facts that y'all don't want to hear. When you go into a game, there will be literally people, mostly Eagles fans
3:13
that will run out and yell, oh, look at our quarterback. He's the best quarterback in the NFC
3:20
He's better than Dak. He's better than, see, I told you he's better than Jaden Daniels
3:25
but when you go down, said, and you put the ball in the belly of Saquon Barkley
3:35
and he scores a touchdown, that's not ultra creativity with said playmaker
3:43
play caller. I'm about to say play caller. That's him making plays
3:48
Those are not excuses. He's a damn good football player. he's good those are facts so when y'all go and say yeah you know um cowboys stop making excuses
4:05
and i tell y'all when we go into the postseason and the last i i can i can date back all the way until we had tony romo we don't have that here
4:19
ladies and gentlemen those are not excuses tony romo didn't have that luxury to say down said or
4:25
A wide 80. A wide 80. Hut. Last time he did that, DeMarco Murray was playing football
4:31
He was playing basketball with the football. Those are not excuses. Those skill sets are not the same
4:39
So those are for what it is. So when we say we need more and more weapons, those are not excuses
4:52
Those are not excuses. Jalen Tobert probably wouldn't make the roster over there in Eagles land
5:00
Jalen Brooks probably won't even make the roster in Eagles country. Those are not excuses
5:07
I hate to just talk to you guys left and right about saying the same thing over and over again
5:13
Hey, love, stop making excuses. When the Chiefs went and got D-hopped, they was looking to erase excuses
5:24
D-Hop, look at his numbers. He ain't bringing crazy numbers. If you listen to his presser, D-Hop, DeAndre Hopkins
5:32
he still requires two defenders because they can't one-on-one him. Those are not excuses
5:40
D-Hop is a damn good wide receiver. Xavier Worthy, he wasn't drafted in the fifth or the sixth round expecting to give results
5:50
Can somebody put down what round he was drafted in? let me know
5:57
but there's always a couple stop making excuses we had the same where when
6:04
Daniel Jeremiah one of the reporters for one of these networks
6:15
three ladder four ladder networks literally said that Josh Allen needs more weapons
6:23
cooks average 6.5 yards per toe running the ball don't y'all know with those set of circumstances
6:36
here we undefeated in the postseason are those excuses come on man come on you know so when we start talking about teams making movements
6:53
into free agency. Those are not excuses. When I make a video and I say
7:00
well, we're going to be very dependent on the draft because we don't depend on the free agency
7:07
That is not me making excuses for the Cowboys. Those are me pointing out facts
7:13
that we don't dance around in free agency. We have a philosophy here
7:20
the Cowboys have a rooted philosophy and there two things you can do either you can still support this team or there the door unfortunately Or you can cry about it and moan about it But that equivalent to living in Alaska saying why is it cold
7:38
Why is it cold in Alaska? I want it to be hot
7:44
Don't live in Alaska. Those are not excuses. Those are facts. And that's what it is
7:55
We can cry about it all we want to, but as man, if you're a man and you're crying about everything all the time, then I'm questioning your manhood
8:03
Stop crying all the time. I can't stand it. I can't stand a feeble person, the feeble-minded person that's going to cry about everything
8:14
There's a door. Just go ahead and hit the door. If you're going to cry about every little thing
8:21
we're looking for solutions we're looking for the resolves
8:30
it's okay to explain the situation but just to sit back to complain all day
8:37
that's why your life is looking the way your life is looking have you ever noticed that
8:41
move on don't be waddling around in your own misery we were fans of this team
8:50
before Jerry Jones bought the team. And when he do an idiotic thing
8:54
we bring it up and we talk about it. But neither here nor there
8:59
they got the oppressor live right now. Let's see if I can get to it
9:04
And normally, they don't be on time with their oppressor, you know. Let's see
9:10
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Them brothers ain't on time, you know. It must be CPT
9:15
They're Eagleton, you know what I'm saying. They're Eagleton, what you doing? But neither here nor there
9:22
Let's see if we can pull up the audio and get things going from here
9:30
Let's see what we got. Giving all the options. PlatinumChevyTexas.com is another option
9:34
My family has bought four cars from Platinum Chevrolet in the last five years
9:38
They still on commercial right there. I'm waiting for it, boy. I'm waiting. So as soon as the presser kick off, we'll jump right on into that
9:51
So it takes about 15, 20 minutes. Derrick Eagleton, man, you know, what's the excuse, man
9:59
Yeah, what's the excuse, Derrick Eagleton? You know, he on CPT time
10:05
Yeah. yeah y'all hear the music y'all hear it i'm gonna mute it right quick and then when they come live we we will dive into that
10:21
but before we go into any other further details those are those are my thoughts with this man uh
10:29
Air flu is getting his interview today. Yeah. And. This is not an excuse right here
10:36
These are facts. Everybody else was what was a Rooney. Rooney interview
10:44
They said that Air flu's got the job before he even interviewed
10:51
Let me know. Did they say already bad? You know, he got the job is going to be more than likely
10:58
air flutes. The other guys that they brought in was for the Rooney
11:02
rule. That's a horrible rule. You see what I did there? Those are facts. That's not an excuse
11:11
Those are absolute facts. Depending solely on the draft means developing young
11:16
players for other teams. If they turn out great, you can't afford them all anymore
11:25
Yeah, you're right. dread it run from it destiny arrives all the same victoria's secret you you 1000
11:35
you 1000 right take the money out all of it come on wasting my time now come on
11:45
they still on commercial over there um and let me just check just in case
11:53
Let me check just in case. All pro Patrick Peterson, as we break down every game every week
12:00
New episodes drop on Monday. It's still on commercial break. Appreciate your support right there
12:05
You know, when you depend on your youth, those are things that happen
12:12
I was watching the game and the Bills. Ray Davis was a rookie running back this year for the Bills
12:20
When they put him in the game, the first thing that happened, they hit him, and he fumbled the ball
12:28
He fumbled the ball in a postseason game. Granted, the Bills were able to fall on it
12:37
but that's just for what it is. He's a rookie. What do you think a rookie is going to do
12:44
Oh, Lord, stop with the excuses. No, he's a rookie. You're going to have rookie mistakes
12:49
You can't go into the season expecting to win at all when you have two rookies on your offensive line
12:56
Never been done in the history of the NFL. But all of a sudden, we're supposed to beat up everybody with a rookie center and a rookie left tackle
13:04
By the way, who didn't play the year before coming out of college at left tackle
13:12
You don't do that. Those are not excuses. Those are facts. But the expectations here in Dallas from our fan base and from the front office is still that we have to win every game
13:28
Same as it is when we had Dave Campo here. The expectations for us to win every game still was prevalent then
13:40
They need to add rap instrumentals instead of the lamb rock or roll loop
13:46
This is from Chris214. Take the money out. All of it. Come on
13:52
Appreciate it for your support. My time now. Come on. Come on
13:59
That's the licensed music that they love. You know what I'm saying? They don't like to identify with certain culture there, unfortunately
14:08
But we can't wait for it. It's unrealistic expectations every year, man
14:14
And it is crazy for us to be held to that degree
14:20
And we are the ones being called delusional because of our passion
14:25
Things just don't make sense. But that's just how life is. That's the world
14:32
It's the world we live in. You know, it's the evil one. It's the evil world we live in, right
14:37
So that's just how it goes. and unfortunately it's shoddy time right now
14:45
He'll be our 10th coach here. T says I appreciate you not allowed I tried to tell folks that this offensive line was going to struggle and Dak was going to get compromised that year or this year
15:06
Yeah, shoot. Yeah. And sometimes people don't understand. It's like you get lumped into a category
15:16
whereas they think that, oh, you're only caping for a certain quarterback
15:20
No. This applies to all rules. if Josh Allen need more and more weapons, then what do you think this quarterback needs, right
15:28
If Lamar Jackson been in the league for eight years, right, and only got three playoff wins
15:33
what do you think he needs? You know, he was a first-round draft pick. He needs more weapons, and he got more weapons
15:40
They had a better defense and a better run game, and the same results
15:43
They're sitting at the house. They're sitting at the house watching the damn Super Bowl just with us with the clicks, you know
15:49
So what was the excuse, you know? So, yeah, so just for what it is, you need coaching
15:59
You need coaching. You need staff members. You need to be able to have free agencies
16:05
And it goes to show you that in the last 10 to 15 Super Bowls that was won
16:11
or the teams that made it to the Super Bowl, 15 years of historical data supports the facts that I'm about to bring up
16:19
that they either made acquisitions or free agency to help aid their team to get there
16:27
And that's the last 15 Super Bowls. And you can do your homework a little bit further
16:33
It can go probably back to the last 20 Super Bowls that was played, won or lost teams
16:40
literally danced in free agency or made some type of strong acquisition via trade
16:48
to make it there you don't make it there just by okay with the team that you have you got to make
16:55
moves and the cowboys don't do those things yeah their excuse is mark andrews yeah big saw yeah
17:04
yeah somebody in the bravest land mark andrews had he must have had no brown hands right
17:09
but you know we we live in that in that bubble sheet whereas we know for sure the things that
17:19
are needed and right now there's nothing we can do to change it that's the equivalent for me to
17:27
walk outside and say hey you know I can't stand the sun and the moon I want to get rid of them I
17:33
can't get rid of them you know what I'm saying Jerry Jones and Stevie Jones we can't get rid of
17:38
they ain't on nobody's diddy tape they ain't slip and say an n word
17:45
or r word or none of that stuff they are who they are
17:49
and we're talking about ticket sales when Jerry Jones ran out his
17:57
stadium and studios for people to be entertainer and they ain't paying dog water
18:06
you know He makes more money through the season doing outside gigs there than he do making gigs there
18:17
And then on top of that, have you guys ever been to the stadium? For those who say, hey, let's boycott, let's not go
18:24
Have you been to the stadium? Shoot. Here they go right here
18:35
Well, I ain't got no audio. I see them, but I don't hear nothing. There you go
19:14
Boy, y'all done beat up the Cowboys so bad they done disabled the chat
19:20
Yeah, damn, boy. Take the money out! Rex! First quarterback since John Elway to make it back to the Super Bowl
19:32
after losing in his first appearance. So think about that in terms of, like, Joe Burrow
19:38
Joe Burrow made it to the Super Bowl. He lost in his first appearance. Hasn't gone back yet
19:42
Yeah, those people. They need some B-roll. All righty. I think we're ready to go
19:50
All righty. Welcome, everybody. Thanks for coming out this Monday morning. Comedy Central, baby
19:56
I'm in Frisco. I'd like to introduce our participants here on the stage, who everybody knows
20:04
Of course, Cowboys owner, president, and general manager, Jerry Jones. I'm your puppet
20:13
Our new Dallas Cowboys head coach, Brian Schottenheimer. And chief operating officer, executive vice president of player personnel, and co-owner, Stephen Jones
20:31
Ain't nobody clap. Boy, come on, y'all had to offer the opportunity
20:35
Now, what we'd like to start off with is some remarks from our head coach, Brian Schottenheimer
20:44
and then we'll follow that up with questions. Thank you, Tad. First of all, I'd like to thank Jerry, Miss Jean
20:53
When Jerry speak, I'm going to put the clown music on. Jerry Jr., the entire Jones family
21:01
Over the past three years that I've been here, it's been really incredible to get to know them
21:06
But I would say really over the past four or five days as we've spent a lot of hours together
21:13
that I really realized why this organization, but most importantly, this family is so special
21:20
So thank you guys for the opportunity. From a football family, the Schottenheimers, to the Jones, thank you guys for this incredible, incredible opportunity
21:29
and I look forward to working so closely with the entire family
21:34
in continuing the legacy and tradition of this football team and the special brand that it has
21:45
I'm honored and privileged to be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys
21:51
I'd like to just talk briefly about some of the people that we're looking for
21:56
And there's a lot of those young men in the back of the room here. that, as you guys will learn from me, the Schottenheimers tend to be criers
22:06
And that just means we show our emotions. And so the type of people we're looking for that are modeled by a lot of the young men in the back
22:13
that I will talk directly to them in a minute is just a special group
22:21
We looking for world competitors guys that want to compete every day to be the best versions of themselves we are looking for people with a relentless work ethic I was taught at a young age by my father that you can outwork people in this business
22:40
You don't belong in this organization if you don't value relationships. This business has never been about X's and O's
22:47
It's about people. And when I thought about it, I can't imagine sitting up here with a better group of people
22:53
a better family to do this with. So I thank you guys for that opportunity
22:58
And lastly, the type of people that we want, people that love this game
23:04
The game of football has given me so much, my family so much
23:08
but if you're not passionate about the game of football and the shield and what it represents
23:12
then you're probably in the wrong line of business. To our players
23:19
you are the core of this program, and we will focus on you every day
23:27
To Dak, JT, JB, Demo, Brock, Tesis, Josh Butler, Kalen, Carson, Schoonie, you're back there
23:36
I don't know if anybody else snuck in that I missed. It means the world to me that you guys are here
23:42
And I can't wait to do this alongside you, to get to know you guys at an even deeper level
23:49
I want to get to know your hearts. I want to capture your hearts and let you guys get a great feel for me, but thank you for being here
23:55
It means the world to me. Quickly about culture. What's your point
24:04
Things that I believe in. What you believe in, bro? The family first mantra, which is embodied by the Jones family
24:11
to do and make the sacrifices that we make in order to pursue excellence
24:19
It requires the sacrifice, and you need to make it fun. My conversation with the Joneses has been incredible
24:26
We see football the same way. It's a first-class organization all the way
24:32
I've never been in the big room, Jerry. I've never been in the big room
24:36
But it's a first-class organization. But please understand this. a first-class organization is not just about the structure of the walls
24:44
It's about the way that we treat one another, about the way that we earn each other's trust and respect
24:51
and the way we just treat our fans. We treat the people that matter to us most
24:57
Y'all got to show it then. What I'm going to challenge these guys to do is to let their personalities shine
25:03
We've got some incredible, incredible players. We've got incredible support staff. The strength staff is here
25:07
That means the world to me. you guys took the time to come up here. But to do what we need to do
25:14
it's going to take incredible amounts of hard work, but we're going to do it together
25:19
Our team, the Dallas Cowboys, will be driven by a competitive spirit
25:25
and a love for one another. Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn't thank my family
25:37
Don't cry, dawg It's been an incredible journey Hold it together, man
25:43
I've had some opportunities when I was a much younger man That I didn't feel like I was ready
25:49
I'm ready now I know what I want I know what it looks like
25:56
But for you guys that have been with me the whole time My extended family, I love you
26:01
Thank you for being here To my sister that couldn't be here Kristen
26:07
I know she's watching. She probably has on my dad's Schottenheimer jersey
26:14
To my wife, Jimmy. Come on, man. Hold it together, man. It's been an incredible journey
26:24
Lots of ups. Lots and downs. You've always been by my side
26:29
You're my best friend. And I love you more than you know. Oh, is this sweet
26:34
To my kids, Sutton and Savannah. thank you for the sacrifice that you made to allow me to pursue my dream
26:45
You are my greatest achievement, and I love you. To my mom, one of the first ladies of pro football
26:57
when I saw her last night and I had a chance to embrace her, she said, baby, you did it
27:06
Mama said it. Oh, that mama said it. And in closing my remarks, there's one person that's not here today
27:16
But I'd be remiss if I didn't mention him. My father was a legendary coach, a great man
27:31
But he's an incredible father. and he's impacted me more than anyone in this profession
27:38
I know he's looking down on me. I know he's proud. And I miss him very much
27:47
But I know what he'd say to me. He'd say, Brian, the easy part is over
27:56
It's time to get to work. Yeah. I love you, Dad. Thank you, everybody that's here
28:03
Go Cowboys. He's a family man. He's for damn sure a family man
28:15
I love that. I love that. He's a family man. Thank you
28:21
Calvin Watkins, Dallas Morning News. This is for Jerry and Steven. Why did you pick Brian Schottenheimer
28:27
What was it about him that you guys felt like he was the right fit for you guys
28:31
That's a good one. Damn! In almost 35 years that I've been involved with the Dallas Cowboys
28:47
Don't you start crying, Jerry. I've only missed one senior bowl. 35 years
28:57
And I think I missed one combine in 35 years. at the NFL
29:04
over the last four or five years the NFL we want to come in a day early
29:13
so that we can visit with prospective coaches for the future man he asked you why you picked him man
29:23
I don't give us no story in 35 years I don't think I've ever visited with a coach, but what in my heart and mind I wasn't having an interview
29:38
I don't think I've ever had a coach visit with me that wasn't prospectively thinking maybe someday our paths might cross
29:50
Land the plane, Jerry. Give me a little thought as I'm along the way
29:56
That boy asks you one thing. As a matter of fact, I wanted to be a coach
30:05
Except I wanted to live better than I thought coaches live. I wanted to drive a little bigger car and I wanted to fly in an airplane
30:14
Had I known what I'm paying them now, I'd have been a damn coach. But having said that, coaching is no..
30:24
Land the plane, Jerry! No, and the makeup of coaches are no stranger to me
30:29
On my college team, within almost three years after we won the national championship
30:38
every position coach, the Johnny Majors, the Hayden Fries, the Doug Dickies
30:43
every position coach became a head coach. Barry Switzer at Oklahoma. So I've seen it when I was a pup
30:54
He asked you one question, dawg Come on, man I have a good background
31:03
In the makeup Of what a coach is To think That you could make a decision
31:13
In an interview Look at that plane, put me in that plane
31:16
Out there, yeah And not have talked If you didn't and hadn't ever
31:21
communicated or had a visit, I wouldn't dare have had an interview unless I talked
31:28
to many, many people that knew that person. And had had those kinds of life experiences
31:36
Knew their story, if you will, Shoddy. Knew their story. Pat is here today
31:44
Gene, my wife, is here. Pat has shot his mama. When I served on the competition
31:51
We had many times that we were together. Gene knew. Okay, we knew you
32:04
We know what osmosis is and we know what Shadi grew up around
32:11
Not just from that, but we knew. Frankly, from the standpoint of Shadi, those X hairs crossed
32:21
Shottie might never have been in our mirror or in our view
32:26
Shottie! Had he not joined us. Man, what does this have to do with why you..
32:32
As a consultant three years ago. What does this have to do with the price of tea in China, man
32:36
I've sat in handfuls of meetings with Shottie. I've listened. I've watched him
32:43
I've watched him have deference to his head coach. I've watched him have deference to experience guys like Zimmer
32:51
guy's last guy around I've watched him bite his lip sometime when he didn't necessarily
32:57
agree with that direction but he bit his lip as his daddy
33:02
would have told him to bite your lip have deference to the head coach
33:07
I've watched him exercise those things I've particularly been a part of seeing
33:13
what's brought this players in here today what's the answer man And I know that Shoddy is no stranger to these guys
33:26
Oh, my God. I know he's no stranger to this building. That's the reason why you hired him
33:31
I didn't have to give you a last kick over needing people in my comfort zone
33:39
Without this thing being about me in any way, if you don't think I can't operate out of my comfort zone, you're so wrong
33:47
It's unbelievable. This is as big a risk as you could take
33:54
As big a risk as you could take. No head coaching experience
34:01
Now let me share something with you. Lord! With all of that, you've just heard him reference his osmosis, his family
34:11
Anybody in this room that doesn't believe the apple doesn't go far from the tree has missed it someplace down the road
34:17
especially if there was an effort to make it that way and there was an effort
34:21
but then you go let me see the clown emojis man in the chat that shoddy has served on staff with
34:28
and been around the countless players how often do you have someone that has 25 i'm going to say 25
34:37
it may be 26 of years of working through the human relationship and working aspiring to
34:46
to learn, have his ears and eyes wide open and looking for techniques
34:51
and looking for things that make coaches better. How often do you have a chance to take advantage of all of that at 50 years old
35:01
which is a puppy, yet he's had 25 years being around the kinds of things
35:09
that he's going to have to draw to be a coach. I like his baggage
35:16
They turned his mic on. They turned that man's mic on. When he called his mother
35:31
and I heard the other end, and I was listening to Shoddy
35:36
and one of the things he said to his mama is, Mama, I'm going to get what daddy didn't get a chance to get
35:45
I got a chance but didn't get. And I'm going to get a Super Bowl if it kills me
35:52
And his mother, of course, was emotional. This one will be for Daddy, the first one
35:58
Well, you got to play that Illuminati dudes, man. I don't know what you call instincts
36:05
I don't know where you come. I really wouldn't dare try to tell you how Jimmy Johnson got here
36:11
Bring him back. I don't want to go into all the psychological stuff that caused Barry Switzer to be here
36:20
Or Chan Gailey. Dave Campbell. It wasn't just about X and O's
36:26
And it was about things that were all melded in with some of life's experience
36:32
And using my own osmosis, how I got here. All of that comes to play
36:37
I've read where we didn't have but four or five interviews. It's ridiculous to think that you can make a decision to coach the Cowboys relative to the number of interviews that you might have
36:55
He's a product of a lot of time. Many will say misplaced time or skewed times
37:03
I've read where I don't have a penchant for risk taking. Jerry! You're kidding me, man
37:10
You would see that I've taken more risk in the last five years than the rest of my life put together
37:17
No, you didn't! And sometimes I don't know, when I look in that mirror, why the risk is taken
37:23
With it there let me say this It was a huge risk to get involved with the Dallas Cowboys Huge And a lot of people that quote unquote didn understand or feel like it could be done
37:40
I spent a nice part, Tim Kalashaw, you'll remember it. I spent a nice part of my early four or five years with the Dallas Cowboys defending why
37:50
Next question please! and defending why Jimmy would make a good coach
37:54
I think one time I said he's worth five Heisman trophies to be a good coach
38:01
Did I know? No, but I knew Jimmy. Okay, had I interviewed countless thousands of coaches? No
38:10
No, not at all. So what I'm here to tell you is this was a thorough, thorough process
38:19
Shaded by whatever my experiences have been. shaded by my experiences with Stephen and Charlotte and Jerry
38:29
shaded by many things. We all are involved in this. And what I would say for the fans is that..
38:39
You stepping down. Yes, to some, and it might be couched as a less than glamorous hire
38:49
What I would say to you is I got here taking shots
38:53
and not shotty shots. I got here taking shots. Good things have happened
39:00
Let me tell you something. There's some stuff to be had over there where not many people go
39:06
There is. Don't think for one minute I won't take a shot
39:11
This was risky. This is risky. But by the same token, how often can you take a risk
39:17
when someone has had over 30, almost 30 years, getting my numbers mixed up but almost 30 years of being around coaches of being around players
39:30
that's two-thirds of his life and then the rest of it growing up in a football oriented nfl
39:38
oriented family if you will i think this might make something special
39:45
So I'm all behind what we're to say the very least. Clarence, for your benefit, I'm all in here
39:54
Oh, chicken. Oh, my gosh. Lord
40:04
Clarence Hill, All City DLS. You brought up risk. You also brought up Super Bowl
40:10
What about this move gets you to the Super Bowl? because that's what the fans are talking about
40:14
And Shadi, by the same time, I'm talking about a question for you and for Shadi. What difference can you make from the Mike McCarthy era
40:22
from a cultural standpoint that gets him over the hump? Mike's one of my best friends
40:31
And when you talk about what Mike and this football team has done
40:36
over the last five years, it's been some incredible, incredible success. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to create relationships
40:53
Relationships that are built on trust, respect, connection. I'm really good with X's and O's, but I'm great with people
41:06
and the type of men that we have in this locker room are excited about that
41:18
And so I think as we build this thing out, as the culture comes together of this team
41:25
that's where I feel like my greatest impact will be felt. with the relationships, the ability to communicate
41:37
I've always been someone that was very good at having open dialogue, hard conversations
41:49
and I've always tried to paint very clear, bright lines. And that's what I plan to do as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys
42:00
Excuse me, speak up. They're letting all of the brothers talk. Mike McCroth left some good stuff here
42:10
The Rooney interview room. He did leave. Mike McCroth is a hell of a coach
42:18
He left some good stuff here. It was time for a change
42:23
It made sure that all the brothers asked the first question. I'm going to criticize
42:27
Guys, we spent five days getting to come to that decision. We did come to that decision
42:40
One of the reasons we came to that decision is because there was this decision available to us as well
42:48
One of the reasons. Them brothers ain't going to go against the grain
42:55
Clarence and the old clown, but they ain't going against the grain. among our players, key players, real support
43:05
And they've seen him when he was on top, and they've seen him when it didn't work out so well
43:13
That's an advantage here. That's a real advantage. That was big. That was real big
43:21
This process, I've read where it looked disjointed. It looked untimely. It looked those kinds of things
43:30
The very nature of the process, the time after we played our last game
43:35
and you've all heard me talk about how I felt about Mike McCarthy as being a good coach
43:40
But that time, those days, to reflect with him and go through many things that we should and wanted to talk about
43:51
that caused us to arrive at that. But what we have is an opportunity to take some of the very best things that are here in place, Mike's doing, some of those very best things, change some of that, add to it, and be better for that
44:12
Imagine winning one playoff game in five years and say, oh, he's a great coach
44:17
I've heard Shottie referred to as maybe old school with his offensive philosophy
44:22
Well, I'll tell you one thing. as these philosophies or as these offensive philosophies evolve
44:34
Okay? Shottie has a good feel for not only the offensive philosophies
44:39
where they are today, but where they're going to go, and certainly where it has been
44:44
That's rare to come in here with this kind of energy, this kind of I'm going to show them
44:51
That's rare to combine those two things. Yeah there be change but we use in place some of the many things that we have here now Brian Todd Archer with ESPN You said in the beginning that you weren ready then to take a head coaching job
45:08
Why are you ready now? I think, you know, over the past 19 years
45:17
when that first was afforded to me, when I was first-time coordinator with the New York Jets
45:22
and a bright spotlight. There were things that made me pause
45:33
Now, spending the better part of the last 19 years learning, listening, doing
45:42
I've learned things, almost more things that I don't believe in than things that I believe in
45:49
Todd, I've always tried to be someone that moves around. I want to be around incredible coaches and players and try to learn from them
45:59
And so going to Seattle was, I would say, critical to my development as a coach
46:06
Pete Carroll challenged me in a number of ways. He challenged me to continue to be authentic
46:16
to continue to dive into the relationships that matter, which is your coaches, your players, ownership
46:25
He challenged me offensively, to be honest with you. He challenged me with, hey, what do you think about this scheme
46:32
What do you think about that scheme? And the McVay-Shanahan style was taken off
46:37
And in Seattle, we were competing against Sean and Kyle. And so he was pressing me
46:43
So I just really feel like things changed for me when I went with Pete
46:50
Learned a ton from my dad and all the coaches, Mike and Steve Spurrier, all those guys
46:57
But Pete Carroll had a huge impact on me, and it probably sharpened my edge
47:02
and sharpened my view on what I want this opportunity to look like
47:08
And that was a big change for me. And one that I'm excited about moving forward
47:15
And then for Steven and Jerry, what do you guys need to do differently to support Brian
47:21
and to end the 29-year drought that you guys have between going to a Super Bowl
47:27
Well, I think we, you know, you always have to evaluate, you know, where it didn't go right last year
47:34
And obviously we're also evaluating where it didn't go right, you know, in terms of, you know, this drought
47:40
that people say we're in in terms of a championship game or a Super Bowl
47:45
And, you know, we just have to continue. He's going to do this. Like, it's not this, dog
47:49
It's absolutely a drought. It's going to certainly be something that Jerry, myself, Will and his staff
47:54
and now Coach Shoddy and his staff, you know, will sit down and take a look and see what we have to do better
48:01
I think we've got a lot of great pieces. You ask why Shoddy? I think Shoddy's the perfect combination
48:08
What's this? keeping some continuity but also affecting change and we have to support that as well
48:15
in terms of being behind him and doing the things he wants to do. I've walked in Shadi's shoes
48:22
You know I have a lot of deference in myself as well working with Jerry. Shadi did the same with
48:28
Mike. Would he do things different? Is he going to do things different than Mike? Absolutely. I'm
48:33
And, you know, I think we've got a great plan on defense
48:38
I think we've got a great plan on special teams. Who's on D.C.
48:41
That has to come together as a staff, and certainly Shadi leads that
48:46
And, as he said, some of his best characteristics are communications and working with people
48:56
And I see that. I've taken that in. I've gotten more respect through this process with him
49:02
and also talking to other men about the job. But certainly we'll do a real deep dive on putting some personnel together
49:14
whether it be through the draft, free agency. I know typically that's not been the way we've done this team
49:20
but we'll certainly look at it and put really good not only players
49:27
but good football character people with some of the men we have in this room right now
49:32
And we have a lot of great players on this team. And certainly no one has excuses
49:38
We had a few challenges this year on the injury front. And that's why we think we do need to keep some continuity
49:44
Certainly every team, when they're looking for a coach out there, is looking, you know, what's in the best interest of the quarterback
49:52
Certainly that played a role here. And, you know, Dak's not making any coaching decisions, nor does he want to
49:58
But I can tell you every team who made a coaching decision was looking at how they solved for the quarterback
50:05
And, you know, that's how you win in this league. I think we've got one of the best, if not the best, in terms of our quarterback
50:14
And he's the ultimate leader. And we just have to continue to put the pieces around
50:20
And, you know, we're not naive. I know our fans. they're not going to believe
50:26
and there's going to be pressure until we get the job done
50:30
and certainly we didn't get the job done this year and our ultimate goal is
50:35
to win a Super Bowl I can tell you I've never seen
50:39
a man more driven than Jerry this is huge to him to go get this championship
50:46
and I know Coach Settenheimer believes the same thing and I know our players
50:52
sitting in the back want it. I mean, they want it. They're driven to get it. And we've got to get the right people
50:58
to put around them. You know, we'll have turnover in our roster like we do every year
51:04
And our goal is to put together the best roster in the NFL. Steve Spurrier told me, I called him and asked him about Shoddy as a ball player
51:13
how he got there. He said, well, to start with, he threw the first touchdown pass
51:21
in our national championship season, I got mad at my Heisman Trophy winner on our center
51:28
and sent him out there and damned if he didn't throw the touchdown pass
51:32
But he told me a lot about Shottie. I called Pete Carroll to talk about Shottie
51:37
Why did y'all split up? Why did you fire Shottie if you fired him? How'd that happen
51:43
So we got into that. How'd it happen? because Shottie has been effusive about the impact of not only his father
51:52
but Pete and the people that have shaped him along the way
51:58
But it's kind of interesting. Old Will and his staff, they go to the next-door neighbors of these players
52:05
that we're drafting or look at drafting and get that next-door neighbor to talk about them at that time
52:11
Boy, you need to do that when you're dealing with a head coach. Now, I didn't have to go to the next-door neighbor with Jimmy
52:16
I didn't have to go to the next door neighbor with Barry. But, man, I've been to this guy's next door neighbor
52:25
Personally Personally And I like our shot with Shoddy John Machoda with The Athletic For Steven we know that you met multiple times with Brian several hours
52:41
Can you just kind of go behind the scenes and share some of the stuff that was talked about during that
52:46
and at what point you guys kind of felt comfortable making him the next head coach? You know, as I said, and certainly I probably wouldn't have respect for what Shottie's role was
52:57
I mean, Mike was our play caller. He was our head coach, and then he was our play caller
53:01
And, you know, Shottie was there to support him as the offensive coordinator. But I think, you know, some of the most important things for us
53:10
after you get to know the man better and you see the energy, you see the way he can communicate with Jerry, with myself, with the room
53:18
And, you know, certainly that jumped out at you. But the bigger thing, as I mentioned, you know, we certainly want continuity, but we also want change
53:27
And, you know, just felt like, you know, we need something that's going to freshen it up
53:34
Mike did one hell of a job here. He's the winningest coach, I think, in the history of the franchise
53:40
You know, had an unprecedented, you know, three-year run, winning 12 games
53:44
So, you know, Mike did a lot of great things here. but at the same time, we just felt like, Jerry felt like, I was supportive of it
53:52
that we did need change and we wanted to hear how that was going to happen
53:58
It's not just the X's and O's. We obviously went extensively through the X's and O's
54:04
but we also, you know, you get into the schedules, you get into how you get your players motivated, how you take care of your players
54:12
All those things are, you know, part of being a head coach It's a lot, and that's why a lot of people sometimes scratch their head
54:20
why would you go with a first-time head coach? That's been the way of the league these days
54:26
most hard going with these young offensive wizards. I like what he did
54:30
They're joking me. But I think we've got a better version of that because of Shottie's experience
54:37
I mean, everybody's mentioned it, 25 years of NFL coaching and a whole lifetime of being around him
54:44
He played the game at a high level of competition in college
54:50
Certainly that made an impression on him. But it was real important
54:55
The more we met, the more we wanted to meet. And I think that was helping us come to a conclusion on what that decision should be
55:05
in terms of Coach Schottenheimer being our next head coach. And for Brian, real quick
55:11
Just what was that moment like when it was Jerry or Steven or whoever told you, hey, we're moving forward with you, you're the next head coach
55:20
Humbling. There's so many incredible coaches in this profession at every level
55:29
Again, I think I look back on my journey and, you know, the fact that I'm sitting up here with these two men in front of you guys
55:37
is a great lesson for coaches. It's a great lesson for my kids
55:45
for some of our players about persistence. And you get knocked down, you get back up, and you keep working
55:53
And I'm incredibly, incredibly honored to be sitting in this chair because it's such an incredible profession with so many great coaches
56:08
that when I got the news, I just really couldn't speak. I really couldn't speak, and immediately I went to seeing my father's face
56:22
and knowing how proud he would be of me. And I'll say he turned around and called his mama
56:30
And that was very emotional. And I kind of set him up
56:40
I said, you know, you are a first-time coach. And I believe we're hanging around the rim
56:48
I think we've got in place a team that can get there right now
56:57
I had other coaches tell me that were wanting the job. You're right there
57:05
Right there. This, that, and the other. Who was that other coach
57:09
So I started to explain to him, but tongue-in-cheek, that I just couldn't take the risk of going with someone that was doing it for the first time
57:18
and then proceeded to go over some of the things that we talked about right there
57:24
And that's how he found out. He started, in my mind, finding out I'd be, we'd be at our Monday morning
57:31
We did Dave Campo, Jason Garrett, Wade Phillips. They were all first-time head coaches
57:36
Come on, man. This year more often than not, I'd be sitting here listening
57:42
But most of them were. And all of a sudden, that shotty would pop out the summer and go, hell, that's pretty good
57:51
This is kind of a somber morning. That's pretty damn good. Okay
57:56
Those are the kinds of things that give you an advantage if you have proximity
58:03
And that was an edge to go along with the many boxes over here that were not checked
58:10
But that was kind of the edge. Nobody, no situation checks all the boxes
58:19
Nick Harris, forward start telegram. This first one's for Jerry right here in the front
58:24
Where are they? Right here. You obviously know the man to your right very well
58:30
When you talk to fans, fans are super impatient. They see two NFC East teams playing yesterday
58:36
Obviously the drought that we've spoken to. I know you've spoken to fans' sentiment. But why should fans buy into Brian Schottenheimer
58:42
Well, you have touched on one point. Our fans have been very patient
58:49
Very patient. and through you to them. I want to tell them how appreciative that I am
58:58
of the support and of their interest in the Dallas Cowboys. Now, there's a whole bunch of those fans that look and are interested
59:08
because they want to see me gravel, grovel, whatever it is. But I'm not putting that up there much
59:16
But to those fans who have been with us, this decision to bring shotty in is risky
59:24
It's a, it's not a hail Mary at all, at all in any way
59:30
but it's founded over some very unique, as I started off, you needed sets of circumstances
59:37
I know how much our fans are into the Dallas Cowboys. And for me to end to it
59:45
be into it is no solace at all. We're interested. They're interested. I'm interested in getting to those playoffs and win it. This is the best way that we can
59:59
can go to the playoffs and win. My next one's for Brian, if I could really quick
1:00:07
You've worked with Dak Prescott for three years now. Obviously, he had a lot of support for you
1:00:12
What do you feel like you two can work on together to unlock even more of his game
1:00:16
Well, before I respond to that, I'd like to go back with one thing, Nick
1:00:20
Like, I'm not doing this by myself. I've got the incredible support of Jerry, Steve, and the Jones family
1:00:28
the young men that are sitting behind you we're doing this together so
1:00:34
my message to the Cowboys fans and community is we're going to do this together
1:00:41
and we're going to build this thing the right way we're going to get the culture right
1:00:45
the X's and O's will come, that doesn't matter so a team coach
1:00:49
the support and the work ethic of these guys that sit behind me
1:00:53
incredibly humbling that they know what it takes to win too. So it's not just me
1:01:00
How do they know? Your second question, I apologize. How do they know what it takes to win in the postseason
1:01:07
You've worked with Dak for the last three years. What do you feel like you can get out of him? What do you feel like he can get out of you as well
1:01:13
You know, iron sharpens iron. And Dak and I have an incredible relationship
1:01:19
just like I have an incredible relationship with all these guys. Dak and I know how to push each other's buttons
1:01:26
we know how to have hard conversations I laugh because I think about in training camp
1:01:35
last year a ball got intercepted and we kind of had a thing in place where it was like if you throw an interception you come out
1:01:42
and so I took Dak out and he's like what? he pushed back
1:01:47
I like that the competitor in him is special and so I think he and I working together
1:01:55
along with the rest of the guys putting together there'll be tweaks
1:02:01
there's going to be changes but he's the type of worker that changes
1:02:09
an entire organization and I think he and I see the game
1:02:15
of football offensively very similar and we'll have tons of communication moving forward on some of the thoughts of things we want to do
1:02:25
whether it's tempo or some of the different things we're trying to do with our play-action passing game, the run game, things like that
1:02:32
But he's easy to talk to, and I love and respect him along with all those guys
1:02:40
Hey, guys, Patrick Walker, DallasCowboys.com. Two questions. The first I'll lead to Shadi
1:02:45
Kind of circling back to what Jerry and Steven both said as far as freshening things up, looking for a change
1:02:51
From a head coach perspective that's going to key in on the offense
1:02:56
generally speaking, how do you look to move forward as far as modernizing the offense
1:03:00
You talk about solving for the quarterback. What does that look like under a Schottenheimer error? Yeah, again, I go back to my days with Pete
1:03:06
I think if you go back and you look at some of the things we did in Seattle, obviously the starting point for me would be things that our players do well
1:03:15
You're always going to start with that. If your system's not flexible enough to do what your players do well
1:03:19
then you're probably in the wrong business. But I'm a big believer in cut splits
1:03:24
I'm a big believer in shifts and motions to distort things. We're going to do a great job of marrying our runs and our passes
1:03:32
and make those look the same. I'm proud to say that two different times in my career as a coordinator
1:03:41
we led the league in rushing. And they go hand-in-hand. The run game and the action-passing game go hand-in-hand
1:03:48
action passing game, yay! There's a tempo element that we're excited to mix in
1:03:56
that our players have all shown an affinity for. And let me expand on that a little bit
1:04:06
Why do players like tempo? Well, they like tempo because it allows them to play free
1:04:13
You guys have heard some of the play calls. Dak could rattle off four or five of them right now
1:04:18
they're pretty long. So when you go fast and you're playing on the ball, these guys, it's a little bit more like
1:04:23
pick up basketball, you know, and those would probably be the biggest things that
1:04:28
I would say from an offensive standpoint. From a personnel and roster building standpoint
1:04:35
salary cap management as well for Jerry and Steven, you guys talk about learning some hard
1:04:40
lessons, especially from 2024, depth issues once you guys were ravaged by injury. Just as far as
1:04:45
salary cap management, goals, free agency, and the like, looking in the mirror is one way that you can learn things
1:04:51
Another way is to look at what your opponents and enemies are doing and try to kind of take from their strategies
1:04:55
When you look at a team like the Eagles, for example, do you feel there's anything that you guys can kind of take from their strategies
1:05:00
seeing as they handle free agency a certain way and they're back in the Super Bowl
1:05:04
That kind of could work for the Cowboys going forward. Yeah, I think you certainly look at that
1:05:09
I think you look at your competitors in your conference, you know, what it's going to take to have success
1:05:14
whether that's a 49er team or whether that's an Eagle team. Obviously, the 49ers, you know, had the injury bug situation
1:05:24
And, you know, in this salary cap area, if that injury bug hits you hard enough
1:05:30
it's, you know, it can be difficult to overcome. But at the same time, you know, that's the goal is to, you know
1:05:38
really do a good job with your draft, college free agency. that should be where your strong depth is
1:05:47
Obviously this year we were counting on playing those guys right away
1:05:52
And they had to jump right in. And as the injuries came, more and more had to jump in
1:05:57
But I think the bigger thing here is just where can we, you know
1:06:02
which has been our goal in the past, where can we, you know
1:06:06
in free agency take care of some core needs so that when the draft comes
1:06:11
you are able to take the best player on the board, not unlike we did with C.D
1:06:15
We weren't necessarily in that draft looking for a receiver. But C.D. Williams, C.D. Lamb's sitting there
1:06:21
Oh, you know that man's name. You know, it's obvious what you do there. And I think if you do some things in free agency, you know
1:06:29
like we've done in the past to really take care of your roster before the draft comes around
1:06:34
you have a much better chance. But certainly you look at the blueprints
1:06:39
Everybody does it different. Kansas City's doing a great job bringing young guys along and, you know, those type of things
1:06:45
And a team like Philadelphia, you certainly look at the way they're doing it, where they went out and, you know, did some things with some veteran players
1:06:53
You have to take a look at that. And then you've got to find exactly what fits your core, your DNA with our players and what we have
1:07:01
and what gives us the best chance to compete against. Certainly you start with your division, the Eagles, the Commanders, and the Giants
1:07:10
and then you stretch that out and what does it take to beat the 49ers, to beat the Rams
1:07:16
Certainly those are all things that come in the mix. I'll answer this
1:07:21
It money management cap is financial When I bought the Cowboys your counterparts rode over with me on this little jet airplane
1:07:35
rode over to my home in Little Rock, Arkansas. And we got off the plane and rolled up there to pick us up
1:07:43
It was a five-year-old, dirty Ford Bronco. And they got off and said, this doesn't make a lick of sense
1:07:54
You just bought the Cowboys and you're flying a jet and you drive up here in a five-year-old dirty Bronco
1:08:02
And I said, it makes perfect sense. You can't have it all. You got to sacrifice someplace to get the other
1:08:10
If you try to have it all, you can pay the fiddler when you've used up your credit
1:08:15
That's salary cap. That's a salary cap. No, it's not. It's not one that we won't hear, oh, what about that team
1:08:22
They've got the same salary cap issue. You do, and they've got that hat
1:08:27
Well, it's because all teams are different, and they've made those decisions as they've moved along
1:08:32
We want to improve significantly how we are doing the cap. The cap takes a big hit when you're invested in players that have injuries, significant injuries
1:08:48
So the cap can take a big hit at that time, cap management
1:08:51
But it's still there. it's still there, it's as real as if it was never there, the availability of it
1:08:59
And so if somebody thinks it's daunting, I try to answer you when we're talking
1:09:06
And so you hear me talk about, well, we have to manage the cap
1:09:11
Why not this free agent? Why don't you go do this? Not necessarily why didn't you go do that with that or the timeliness of how you did it
1:09:19
but why didn't you go do that? That's all management, okay? I want our fans to know that I can manage really good
1:09:28
I do real well managing. I do real well managing. Compared to who
1:09:34
That that doesn't mean you got money. It just means you haven't paid your bills due 60 days from now
1:09:42
So you got to look around the corner. My bills do every 30 days. I wish I could do 60
1:09:47
You're looking around the corner. Okay? And so that's what you see here
1:09:52
No apologies. Everybody has to do it. We obviously hadn't done it well enough
1:09:59
I think our first Super Bowls that I was involved in were before the cap
1:10:04
And so we have to do a better job in that area, can we
1:10:09
You bet you can. No, you can't. You bet you can. Now, all in, we just spent some of it for Dak
1:10:15
We spent some of it for Lamp. We spent some of it for several of our players
1:10:19
It was an allocation. anticipation of what we weren't going to spend or not spend in the future
1:10:27
All of that said, all of that said, we, we, we, Stephen, me, spend a lot of time in this area
1:10:39
And I'm not talking about just sitting here in the office on a chalkboard
1:10:43
I'm talking about three o'clock in the morning when you can't sleep and you're sitting there doodling that cat
1:10:52
Brad Sham, 105.3, the fan. Brian, how long have you been thinking about and prioritizing being a head coach
1:11:01
And did this opportunity surprise you? Humbly speaking, Brad, when I was probably 20 years old, 22 years old
1:11:14
I was throwing the first touchdown pass of the 1996 National Championship season
1:11:18
I actually had a card in my wallet that I had written down a goal
1:11:25
and it said I wanted to be the youngest head coach in the history of the National Football League
1:11:32
I think at the time it was David Shula. And that's when I started thinking about it
1:11:43
And that's why when a couple of these opportunities didn't work out
1:11:48
for different reasons. I thought for a while it might not happen
1:11:56
But it's been a lifelong dream. I mean, how do you wake up every day in a household
1:12:02
with your mentor, your best friend, see the sacrifice and the work ethic that he does
1:12:11
Someone told me this cute story. They told my dad, they said
1:12:15
hey, is Brian getting into coaching? And he goes, yeah, yeah, I'm trying to talk him out of it
1:12:20
I don't want him to, and his mom sure doesn't want him to do it
1:12:25
But I did. And I think it was his really good friend Bill Coward that said a year or two later
1:12:31
he said, Marty, you're missing the boat. He said, the fact that Brian got into coaching is a compliment to you
1:12:44
because you made it fun for him. He respects you, and He's following in your footsteps
1:12:51
And so it's been a lifelong dream, a lot of work. But like I said, that note card was in my wallet at an early age
1:13:02
and it's been a long time coming, but it's here. I know a whole change going on
1:13:11
I think as the conversations went and we talked more and more, no
1:13:15
I think there's a ton of reason. Stephen's already touched on it
1:13:21
You know, the continuity through change. I know the players. I know the building
1:13:27
I know our strengths. I know our weaknesses. I know our issues
1:13:32
And the more and more we got into conversations, sitting around and just discussing different things
1:13:39
I wanted even more. and here we are. Let me say this
1:13:49
We wanted Brian to call the plays. We cherish his relationship with our players
1:13:58
We want him to call the plays. As my mind and our mind would drift around to alternatives
1:14:05
Tell me more. Tell me more. I believe he doesn't have to speak for this
1:14:10
But I believe if he doesn't call the plays, he's probably not with the Cowboys
1:14:15
He doesn't have to speak to that, and he might not know himself, really
1:14:19
I'm not in any way talking down. But I know one thing, one of us, I think, Jerry, said
1:14:29
have you ever thought about that if we've kind of gotten over in this area of potential head coaching with Brian
1:14:36
to some degree, the conversation he's referring to. And Jerry said, you know something, if we went that way
1:14:45
as much as we've gone down the path, there'd be some heartbreak here
1:14:52
There'd be some... Knock the slats out from under I just giving you an idea of how the process was going as we were looking at alternatives of the other people that might be coaching the Dallas Cowboys and Brian calling the plays
1:15:11
So having said that, you get two for one, you're cheaper that way. Just to give you a little bit of insight, Brian, I'll tell you this
1:15:19
My lifelong dream was to get involved in sports and pro ball
1:15:24
and my master's thesis was the role of oral communication in modern day football
1:15:31
Had I not had that dream, had I been sitting there, I was 46 when I bought the Cowboys
1:15:37
had I not been sitting there for 25 years every moment thinking about, my God
1:15:44
I'd watch that Lamar Hunt and he'd be up there with the Chiefs. While I was doing that, the same mind would come home from college and go out in the backyard with a stick and a ping pong ball and play a complete World Series by myself
1:16:00
Hitting the ball over the fence. So that dreaming, if you hadn't dreamed about it, if you hadn't gotten ready to go, when that damn train comes by, you'll be grabbing air on that camoose
1:16:12
You have had to have thought and pictured yourself that way a long time
1:16:18
or you'll miss that damn track. You will. All of this was in the mind
1:16:29
All of this was there. And why is the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys
1:16:35
Nobody got the story. Jerry, Tim Kalashaw, Dallas Morning News, back here in row three
1:16:41
Appreciate the shout-out earlier. Having said that, you know since your last NFC Championship game
1:16:48
this is the seventh coaching hire you've made. That's a unique situation among GMs
1:16:53
Others do not get that luxury. How would you tell the fans again how this unique system is working
1:17:00
Well, it makes it unique. There you go, Tim. Because I've been with the Dallas Cowboys
1:17:06
The Dallas Cowboys have had seven coaching hires, and it happens I've been here for those seven coaching hires
1:17:12
I'm not so sure you know average time a head coach coached NFL
1:17:18
is about 3.4 3.5 years that they coach an NFL average time
1:17:24
I'm not for sure what it is with the general managers it could be less
1:17:29
or more than that but it's a big turnover especially the last 10 or 15 years
1:17:33
with your there okay and I if I could ever think the story
1:17:41
I just told Tim Don't give it no more stories. I lived. I got up and I went to work and I lived on that hope and that promise
1:17:48
And I had a lot of gas. And my point of telling the ping pong ball and bad story was I live in those dreams
1:17:56
And I live real good there. But I'm practical enough to know you can't eat those dreams
1:18:03
So you've got to go put some hard, hard action to it
1:18:07
Life is real. But, boy, those dreams are real there, too. I'm dreaming of the Cowboys playing in a game like the one I saw last night when the Eagles were sitting up there with those Chiefs
1:18:22
I'm dreaming of it. I will always dream of it. I've never quit dreaming about it
1:18:30
I want that. We live it in your dreams, Jerry. NFL Network
1:18:38
Jerry, to a lot of us on the outside, it did look like this process took a bit
1:18:42
What was the reason for that? Did you ever, was there a point during your conversations with Mike that you thought that he would stay
1:18:50
Was there something that came up in those conversations that you needed to change? And what did he say or some of the coaches that you reached out to give you confidence
1:18:59
that this was the guy that you needed, particularly given some of the criticism
1:19:03
about some of the decisions and the coaching in recent years. Well, thank you for that
1:19:12
I wasn't aware of any clock. Where's the clock? There are a hell of a lot more important things than a clock
1:19:20
Take a long time to do this. How about the timing to do that
1:19:25
If I'd have screwed around with clocks in my life, I wouldn't get to be sitting up here
1:19:30
And by the way, you say, well, if you'd watched the clock, you wouldn't be sitting up here explaining why you hadn't been to a playoff game in all those years too
1:19:36
I understand. I get it. One of the fun things about this deal is you get to start a new clock every time you line up for the year
1:19:47
And so I really can block out, not block out the practical things
1:19:56
because I don't care if it is the new year. If they're about to take your house away, that'll go from last year into this year
1:20:03
So there's reality that goes with it. So at least I'm sitting here because I know how to deal with reality
1:20:15
Okay? And so to answer that question is simply, it never occurred to me there was a clock
1:20:24
A clock at all. When I was trying to buy the Cowboys, I think I did read someplace
1:20:31
Tim, you might have remembered or what have you. I read someplace where that process and all that was going on was maybe creating some time problems relative to the clock of the NFL or the clock of that
1:20:48
I've really not had the experience of that being the determining factor
1:20:52
I heard this year that we didn't get DAC signed quick enough. Dac, you're sitting right back there
1:20:58
You want to stand up and tell them you had something to do with that? No, thank you
1:21:04
Ha! What you had to do with it, Dac? You get Lamb signed quick enough
1:21:09
Okay. There's a damn many more things to think about that that clock, it's unbelievable
1:21:14
So I hear it, and I understand the point, but I think it is fair to say that that clock doesn't affect me that much
1:21:22
Coach Schottenheimer I love the way that you've reflected you've sort of manifested
1:21:31
how you want to get there we know that Dak's big on that as well how do you want to be remembered
1:21:36
when you leave the Dallas Cowboys one day number one is a champion
1:21:43
and number two is someone that created one of the greatest cultures
1:21:49
professional sports has ever seen that's dope That's dope. Ed Werner, WFAA, back here in row four next to Kalashaw
1:22:02
Back with the Dak Prescott delegation. Brian, my question is, Dak's missed a large portion of two of the last five seasons with injuries
1:22:14
It's going to be, I think, 32 when the next season starts
1:22:18
He's a young 32. What's your vision? You talked about how important the quarterback is, all of you have, in these kinds of decisions
1:22:25
What your vision for him going forward Uh I think when you talk about Dak number one I had the best seat in the house for the past couple of years in terms of the first year year one as a consultant watching
1:22:41
Literally, I remember the first day I was in the building, he came up and introduced himself, said hello, and we were just talking and people that we mutually respected and we talked about that
1:22:51
But being around the last couple years, my vision for him is he's one of the best
1:23:00
And through the coaching that he's going to get, through the hours and hours and hours of time that he and I will spend together
1:23:14
he's going to play elite-level football, and he's going to lead us to championships
1:23:19
and that's because of the way he works, the way he prepares
1:23:25
This guy prepares different. He does. He prepares different. This guy, I'll be coming down late at night and trying to get something to drink
1:23:37
and I just have to move around because my eyes are bugging out from watching video and he's still in the building doing his, I guess it's hot cold therapy
1:23:47
whatever that is, I don't do that. But we got the right guy
1:23:53
And working closely with him and these other players, we're going to win
1:23:59
And we're going to win a championship. Otherwise, why are we doing it
1:24:05
Dak, you're sitting right behind Ed Warder there. Reach up there and squeeze him on his neck and show him what a little problem is with your health
1:24:14
It feels like. Ha, ha, ha, ha. Geez. All righty. Shout out to Ed
1:24:20
I ran out of minutes. Thank you again for coming. Thank you
1:24:24
Jerry, Brian, for being up here for over an hour. We'll continue with some of the other things we're going to do after this
1:24:36
Thank you, everybody. All right. Picture. No picture time. They muted it
1:24:43
Oh, okay. All right. Brother, you buy America's Airlines, baby. Go Cowboys
1:24:54
All right. First and foremost. First and foremost
1:25:08
Put the plane away. Feedback time. Shout out to everybody, man, that tuned in to this, these type of episodes
1:25:19
One of the things that Tim asked a great question. Pat Noce Walker asked a great question
1:25:31
Nick Harris, he did a great job, too. You know, the first two brothers, man, shout out to Clarence and Calvin
1:25:37
on you know whatever they asked it was just washed down because jerry went into a 32 to 34 minute
1:25:45
uh solidically you know i thought it was a monologue not a dialogue you know at that point
1:25:51
but uh and shout out to tim again and and jane i thought jane was going to come in with the heavy
1:25:58
hitters but uh when we look at everything and we say to ourselves what's the direction of the
1:26:05
Dallas Cowboys what are some of the things that we can look back on and say all right these are
1:26:12
pivotal moments where we can improve at these are things that we need to do better at etc and let me
1:26:19
see what we have here and I appreciate everybody for tuning in and rocking with the nation uh
1:26:24
I'm gonna tell y'all man I'm I'm in the middle now man uh it seems like shoddy he's he's he's
1:26:31
more of a i'm not going to call him anything but far as him speaking outside of football
1:26:38
it was kind of hard for me to gravitate to what he was saying it was a lot of gibberish right let
1:26:44
me see if i can pull this up yes my lifelong dream was to get involved in sports and pro ball
1:26:50
uh-huh and my master's thesis was the role of oral communication in modern day football
1:26:56
Ventriloquist law, double law Had I not had that dream, had I been sitting there
1:27:01
I was 46 when I bought the Cowboys Had I not been sitting there for 25 years every moment thinking about my guy
1:27:10
I'd watch that Lamar Hunt and he'd be up there with the Chiefs
1:27:14
While I was doing that, the same man would come home from college
1:27:19

1:27:25

1:27:34
when that damn train comes by, you'll be grabbing air on that camoose
1:27:39
You have had to have thought and pictured yourself that way a long time
1:27:44
Or you'll miss that damn train. You will. Nobody got that. You know, everybody's like, dog, what are you talking about
1:27:58
Yeah, and then here's the other one right here. Appreciate the shout-out earlier
1:28:03
Having said that, you know since your last NFC championship game, this is the seventh coaching hire you've made
1:28:11
That's a unique situation among GMs. Others do not get that luxury

1:28:53
uh with you're there okay and i if i could ever think the story i just told him don't give it no
1:29:03
more stories i lived i got up and i went to work and i lived on that hope and that promise and i
1:29:09
had a lot of gas and my point of telling the ping pong ball and bad story was i live in those dreams
1:29:15

1:29:50
I want that. We living in your dreams, Jerry. Jeez, boy

1:30:27
But let's go over this all together. I want to know how you guys feel of Shadi in the chat from a scale of one to ten
1:30:35
After hearing him speak on all of that today, how do you guys feel about Shadi
1:30:41
And we try to get to these super chats and beyond. Appreciate everybody for tuning in
1:30:46
Basically, he's selling dreams. There's a lot of clownery. Yeah. Yeah. But his nose said, hey, it's a joke
1:30:56
Sad joke. man something else jerry giving us some billy madison you know uh the thing is is that okay five
1:31:05
he didn't really i think that we will have to see shoddy when he talking about x's and o's
1:31:14
because he didn't give us a good bead of confidence in speaking uh he's he's very
1:31:20
personal and interpersonal right uh seven he's a cool okay six no tens a negative 100
1:31:28
10 been the highest sean hood give him a nine dale green give him an eight okay all right
1:31:35
shattered dreams next broken promise yeah yeah yeah so what i do know is that ultimately he
1:31:43
believes in Dak Prescott, one million percent. He believes in Prescott, and he was talking about
1:31:50
the fact that, you know, when, quote unquote, Dak is working at the Star in Frisco, basically he's
1:31:57
the first one there, the last one to leave. He spoke glowingly of the other players that's on
1:32:04
his team. So he's a player's coach. The holidays are over. What's a better New Year's resolution than saving time and money
1:32:20
Get your first New Year's resolution checked off your list with the Experian app. Experian can help get your budget and finances in order by finding and canceling your unwanted subscriptions for you
1:32:28
Experian can also negotiate. He's a player's coach. So how do we combat all of that
1:32:34
And let me see if I can pull that clip of them talking about that
1:32:38
Give me one second here. Give me one second. Here we go. in the coaching in recent years
1:32:44
Well, thank you for that. I wasn't aware of any clock. Where's the clock
1:32:54
There are a hell of a lot more important things than a clock. Take a long time to do this
1:32:59
How about the timing to do that? If I'd have screwed around with clocks in my life, I wouldn't get to be sitting up here

1:33:52
Okay? And so to answer that question is simply, it never occurred to me there was a clock
1:34:01
All right, Hattie, give me some more water. They still are commercial break
1:34:07
The longest commercial break in life. God, no. All right. So I wanted to get some of that recap going
1:34:15
Shoddy, negative 10. Don't give him anything less than that. Oh, my gosh, boy
1:34:23
He's been here. He's been here for the last three seasons. so the the reality of it is that the Dallas Cowboys will have some of that continuity my
1:34:35
thing is how do we win with shoddy and how do we win with the quarterback that's here and how do we
1:34:41
win with the defense if it is 1000% Matt Eep flutes the linebacker is going to shine the most
1:34:48
the defensive front he valued three techs a lot so we're going to see Osa if they can figure out
1:34:54
ways they didn't ask some like questions on free agency like what what would be the strategy and
1:34:59
game plan shoddy on recruiting your free agent guys right uh they should say shoddy you know
1:35:08
if given the situation where do you like to draft that you know what would be some of the things
1:35:13
i think that they kind of drop the ball in that sense right it just it just seems as if though
1:35:18
in the future what they should do is ask less of Jerry and ask more of like the actual coach
1:35:29
they should stop asking Jerry Jones the question is there because Jerry it takes him 5,000 words
1:35:37
just to say one one yes to get one answer right it's just like come on man uh so so it was just
1:35:43
one of those things too much work to do yeah you look at the work that Schottenheimer has to do now
1:35:48
with adding an offensive line. He's got a whole coaching staff he has to configure
1:35:54
and then they've got to figure out what free agents they've got to work through. And that's reliant on a front office that I don't have a lot of faith in right now
1:36:02
That's a great point because there's a lot of things, but there's one specific thing that came up that I was like
1:36:09
I don't know if I agree with how you're using that terminology then
1:36:14
Jerry essentially said, and I realize some of these things we're going to be paraphrasing a little bit as we work on turning some of that audio around
1:36:21
We are good at managing the salary cap. Right. We just haven't really taken advantage where we've had some struggles the last couple of years
1:36:29
Guess what that means? That means you're not good at it. All right. If somebody applied for a job with you that they used to be really good at, but the last
1:36:37
couple of years they weren't good at it anymore, they're not good at it. And that's how you would take it
1:36:42
The other thing that Stephen Jones said, and I'm going to tell you this right now
1:36:46
I understand why it happens. I think the Jones family in this organization does a disservice to the new head coach
1:36:53
Brian Schottenheimer, or whoever you think it will be in the future
1:36:57
or whoever it was in the past. I think they do a disservice by sitting next to that head coach and answering questions as well
1:37:03
I don't disagree. Because the things that Brian Schottenheimer was saying, I thought were relatable
1:37:09
especially when he dared to start to dive into specifics, talking about motion and other things that he would want to do in his offense
1:37:17
which usually you don't get that at the introductory presser. But when Stephen Jones said Super Bowls and conference championship games or the drought that people say we in He air it He air the hell out of it Any of that is a fact
1:37:35
Air-quote Steven. You haven't been in an NFC Championship game in what will now reach 30 seasons
1:37:43
That's not what people say. That's a fact. I believe that's 16 more seasons than anybody else in the NFC
1:37:49
Exactly. I think the Bears are at 14. And by the way, if Washington and Detroit were to play in next year's NFC Championship game
1:37:55
I believe that means every single team would have been in it twice since you were last in it once
1:38:00
Those are the kind of things that bother me. That's not a drought
1:38:04
That's a famine right there. Yes. It's the eighth longest run in the history of the NFL
1:38:09
Just by the way, if you wanted to know that. That's what we're asking you to fix. And so I really don't like the air quotes as if that's not something people should care about
1:38:19
because then they pivoted immediately from that to do you know how historic the three seasons were
1:38:26
before this last season tell me about it because it was all regular season success
1:38:30
that ended in playoff loss and that's great if you want to go and start hanging those banners
1:38:36
those are the only banners you think we can hang then rock on let's just be very clear about that
1:38:42
And then I know people are caught up about the X's and O's don't matter
1:38:49
That will come around. I understand. Can I go back and comment on it? I agree with you
1:38:53
I prefer if Jerry and Steven came out and said what they said and announced
1:39:00
Now, here's what I'm going to say with this, and I'm definitely not putting him in the same room as Jimmy Johnson
1:39:10
But Jimmy Johnson wasn't particularly the X's and O's guy. He was the motivator guy
1:39:16
He was the guy to get people in the right directions. And he was philosophy
1:39:20
He was king off of that. So those are the things that we have to adhere to
1:39:28
But since we are pressed for time, I appreciate everybody, man, for tuning in to these type of episodes
1:39:34
We're going to kick off at least a 15 to a 20-minute call line
1:39:41
so you guys can call in and give me your thoughts. But before we go into those details here, be sure to hit that like button, share this content
1:39:50
And if you submitted any Super Chat, appreciate you guys that's on this list
1:39:54
Appreciate all of you guys for your support. Let's go ahead and get that going
1:40:00
Appreciate you guys so much for tuning in. Uh, and, and, and hopefully man, everything can work his way out
1:40:07
Cowboy nation. But before we go into those details, just be sure to, um, hear me out
1:40:15
If you ever in a car wreck fender bender, you end up hitting, having a head on collision
1:40:19
There's one person that you need to call. And that will be, it starts from the first phone call
1:40:24
Most of the time you're going to talk to Gene Burkett, a 30 year partner
1:40:28
You're not going to talk to some employee that just got put on the phones that day
1:40:34
There are things that are so crucial, especially if it's a cataclysmic event
1:40:39
to have our experts get out and look at the vehicle, witness statements, photos, the whole thing
1:40:44
Call Frankel first. Chosen by the people feared by the insurance companies
1:40:50
Call Frankel first. No doubt, that's 214-817 and all of the threes you can dial. 657-390-7391
1:40:59
and that's the hotline for my line but if you are in need of a lawyer
1:41:05
and if you've been an offender bender be sure to reach out to Franco and Franco
1:41:09
personal injury lawyers or visit FrancoFirm.com and there's someone that can help you out
1:41:15
with those particular deals there I got on the horn I got from the 945
1:41:21
you're live, make it quick what you got for me? Hey, what's good, man
1:41:27
This okay. I was just kind of, man, just because I was like, man, I ain't going to lie
1:41:33
Boy, Jerry sure don't know how to piss me off, man. Hell yeah
1:41:37
Hell yeah. I don't know what it is. It's like, bro, when he's talking and he's talking
1:41:42
and then he be talking down to people so much like he's just better than everybody
1:41:46
What do you mean what clock? The clock, man, what you mean what clock
1:41:50
Like, it's tough for me to say, and I'm going to leave it alone because I know you probably got a million people
1:41:55
But how the heck do damn North Carolina have a better coast than us
1:41:59
If you would have told me, you got to pick out a Bill Belichick
1:42:04
And, Chadi, come on, bro. We ain't even talk to these people. We ain't talk to Bill
1:42:09
Honestly, the defense played better than offense. So how is the offensive coordinator even getting this job instead of them
1:42:14
I don't like either one of them that much. But the defense played way better than the offense last year
1:42:20
Man, Bishop, you're right. They had more injuries too, yeah. So, I mean, when you look at it, it's just been crazy, man
1:42:28
My thing is with Shadi, he's been in the league since 2001
1:42:32
and he had two offers he turned down. I think that what he did, just based off of that intro interview
1:42:42
he went into that meeting, to that interview, and he turned old Waterworks on
1:42:48
He touched on to the parts that they can identify with. They can identify with the father-to-son ratio, that type of stuff
1:42:56
That's why he got the job. Man, I appreciate you, man. I'm looking at this and I can't believe that North Carolina got a better coach
1:43:08
than these Dallas Cowboys. No doubt, man. Appreciate you, Bishop Kane, man
1:43:12
That's my guy from the 945, man. Yeah, I mean, that's exactly what he did
1:43:17
But he went in there. And I'm going to tell you, it's a technique that they call mirroring
1:43:23
You know, you mirror the person that you interview. You go in with your hat in hand
1:43:28
And the first thing you do is start off positive. Oh, you got a blue tie
1:43:32
Hey, I was going to wear that same blue tie, man. And that's mirroring
1:43:37
And that's probably what happened. I'm not saying that Shadi is bad. I'm not saying that Shadi will be great
1:43:42
I'm putting Shadi, based off of this interview, i'm placing shoddy from a scale of one to ten i'm on i'm on i'm on five i'm right in the middle
1:43:52
i'm not six and i'm not four i'm on five with shoddy right now so so we he's gonna have to earn
1:44:00
it he's gonna have to earn it because if and he's gonna have to speak with with more of authority
1:44:07
and assertiveness but normally you know just getting to know i know he was nervous he got his
1:44:11
mama and him in there, and he had his kids there. So, yeah, yeah
1:44:15
So we'll see, though. And we'll see how things can roll out from here
1:44:19
919, you're live on the nation, brought to you by FrankAffirm.com. Talk to me. Law, how you doing, baby
1:44:25
Man, I'm doing great, doing great. All right, look, this is what I got for you
1:44:30
Because I'm about a five on this as well. Yep. But I'm going to tell you what, Jerry, your clock is broke
1:44:37
That's why you don't pay attention to it. Right. The Washington Commanders just turned around an entire franchise in one season long. One
1:44:48
One. One season. And we sitting over here not talking to Deion Sanders a real culture changer a real person that could come in here and change the entire institution of the Cowboys up and down We didn talk to Pete Carroll a Super Bowl winning coach
1:45:07
within the last 10 years. And we didn't talk to Bill Belichick, possibly the greatest of all time
1:45:14
people argue with Tom Brady. But we went with Brian Schottenheimer. We are an unserious franchise
1:45:25
We got to make people start knowing that we mean business. Yeah
1:45:31
If we can go and attack free agency, I know we won't
1:45:34
If we can go and attack the trades, I know we won't
1:45:39
Right. We could be in a position. I'm kind of mid right now, you know
1:45:45
I need something in April, bring me back in. But until then, us as fans collectively have got to come together
1:45:53
Stop spending money on this dang team. The only way to hurt Jerry Jones is to hurt his pocket
1:46:00
It's the only way. I appreciate you calling in for the 919
1:46:05
You're spitting the truth, bro. Appreciate you, bro. Good call. Hey, we're going to try to hurt them pockets as much as possible
1:46:15
Let's see how that works, man. But I do know for sure a few people that got the season tickets
1:46:21
they buy them and they sell them them juggles buy them and sell them they say if you jerry gonna
1:46:27
make money i'm gonna make money uh i got the 214 darius and then i had that boy chris and then walk
1:46:32
away all right so darius you're live on the nation man talk to me hey larky the one thing that kind
1:46:39
of startled me about shoddy was when they asked him about coaching when they asked him about
1:46:45
culture, his answer, he kind of gave a long-witted answer, and I sum it up to him being just a player's coach
1:46:54
So, like, it was kind of like when you hear Jimmy Johnson speak
1:46:58
and when you hear Michael Lurvin speak, when they speak about culture
1:47:02
it's very straightforward, and it's a tone that they use, and it's a sentence that they use, make one man make a promise to the next
1:47:13
Yeah, one man makes a promise to another. But the thing is, you can't pull something from something that you've never been to
1:47:21
So when he said we're going to get to making winning postseason games, I'm going to say how, where
1:47:26
Where are you going to pull that from? So he's never been there before
1:47:30
So how are you going to expect Dak or whoever that's there to get there when they're already seasoned
1:47:37
And that's the only thing that when he started talking like that, I'm sitting here like, all right, cool
1:47:42
at first I was feeling like seven, then it dropped it to the sixth. Then from the sixth, I'm right at a five just based off of his talk track
1:47:50
Now, he did spoke with authority on the fact that, hey, I can see us winning multiple championships
1:47:59
But, dog, you know, you want to win your first game first before you start talking about that
1:48:03
You know what I'm saying? But go ahead, Brent. I was, like, when I heard Shadi speak towards the end
1:48:10
he started talking my language because it's one thing that he said that I come to say all the
1:48:16
time. It's like, where the main goal is to win the Super Bowl. Why the hell is he doing it? Why are we doing it
1:48:22
I say that all the time. And so when I heard him say it, I'm like
1:48:26
damn, Shadi talking my language. So on one end, it seems to me that he's going to be a players
1:48:32
coach. And then on another end, it seems to me that he's going to be very
1:48:36
good when it comes to the X's and O's when it comes to his clock management and the game management
1:48:42
the fourth and ones, the third and ones, like the play selection as it pertains to that
1:48:47
that's TBD, to be determined. To be determined. And before I let you go, bro, we seen that last night, Joe Brady on fourth and one
1:48:58
they got to go for it. To a degree, even Andy Reid on fourth and one or fourth and two
1:49:06
them teams are going for it. They're not sitting around here putting things in chance of the kicker
1:49:11
So when you get to the postseason, all of that safe stuff, you got to go for it
1:49:16
And that's what the new wave of the football is all about, bro. So in closing, that's one of the things I feel like he's going to be
1:49:25
I am kind of lukewarm on shoddy because I just don't know yet
1:49:29
But I think we're going to be a well-coached team in regards to play calling
1:49:35
but everything else is too, you know, it's too be determined as far as the coach goes
1:49:39
No doubt, man. So we're going to see. No doubt. Good call from you, man
1:49:43
I got that boy Chris, that Walker Wade. And let's keep these phone lines rolling, man
1:49:48
We got lines longer than Jay Leno's chin. Come on with it
1:49:52
I ain't trying to stay all day, man. Come on. That boy Chris, you're live on the nation from the 214
1:49:56
Talk to me. Hey, what's going on, man? How are you, man
1:50:01
Great, great, great. Everything's good, man. What you got for me, bro? Good
1:50:05
I think us as a fan base, I feel like we got to be smarter in terms of, because I was reading the chat, I was reading Twitter, Instagram, we shooting our gun at Shadi, you know what I'm saying
1:50:21
I feel like Shadi, he taking Jerry and Steven bullets. So let's keep, let's aim the gun at the right, at the appropriate people
1:50:32
So, yeah, I know we upset. I know we mad. I know we wanted a well-known coach
1:50:40
But, yeah, man, let's stay the course. Don't get fooled. Aim your gun at the appropriate people
1:50:50
Maybe I shouldn't say gun. I'm sorry. No, no, you good, man
1:50:55
That's right. I practiced that amendment real hard over here. Yeah. The right to bear arms
1:51:03
So, yeah. But you're right. You know, Jerry and Stephen, they hold most of the blame
1:51:09
And one thing that gave me a slither of hope, I don't know whether or not it was this right here, tongue in cheek, you know, with the air quotes
1:51:18
But he did say we may have to do things different. We may have to look into free agency
1:51:25
So that made me like, all right, cool, Stephen Jones. So those are the one little area that I can't complain about until after it is done
1:51:37
When the free agency dry up and they didn't do anything, I'm going to go back to that interview and say
1:51:43
hey, this choco will lie to us again. Absolutely. Yeah, so I give him that little degree
1:51:49
But go ahead, bro. Yeah, hey, that's my last point. Hey, it's like he could be the right coach
1:51:58
He cannot be. but either way let him cook if the meal is great oh if the meal is bad well you just a bad coach
1:52:08
but either way let the man cook don't try to put your own ingredients in it let him cook
1:52:13
support him yeah but appreciate you man thank you for calling in that boy Chris yes indeed man good
1:52:20
call from him so um I think we all on the same page and if anything I know he said he a crying coach and he come from a crying family Well I need for him to be crying about some free agencies if that don happen
1:52:35
You know, he need to be in there. Taylor Bridges ain't good, man
1:52:44
I need somebody else, Jerry. Come on, man. Tell me the story again about the train, man
1:52:51
He need to be in there. He need to be putting them tears on for it
1:52:55
Walk away from the 972. You're live on the nation, bro. Yeah, this is Walker
1:53:01
Yeah, Jerry, yeah, tell me the story over again about your dumbass Ford Bronco
1:53:05
Yeah. I'm tired of this. Walker, you say, I can't take this no more, man
1:53:11
I'm tired of that damn Bronco story. How many times are you going to tell me about Arkansas and being broke
1:53:16
and, you know, your credit card bouncing? How many times are you going to tell me about this shit, Jerry
1:53:22
Yeah. Get it off your chest, man
1:53:34
Get it off your chest, man. I heard that that make people feel better, man. Get it off, man
1:53:38
Yeah. Yeah. We've got a owner that just made a shot in the dark higher
1:53:47
The shot in the dark. We want to take a shot in the dark. That's not what we needed, Terry
1:53:51
Yeah. We don't need a shot in the dark. We need a change. Yeah
1:53:56
This shit is ridiculous. Man. For the years we haven't been to a conference title
1:54:03
We are the laughingstock of the NFC. Yeah. It was spinning on the legacy of this franchise, this legendary game
1:54:11
Yes, indeed. Yes, indeed, Walker, man. You know. But appreciate you for calling in, Walker Wade
1:54:22
Man, your connection is very poor. But, man, I'm glad that you got that off your chest, man
1:54:26
We don't want to hear no more damn stories about a Ford Bronco or anything to dealing with catnips or whatever he be talking about
1:54:35
Appreciate you, Walker Wade. Appreciate you, man. Yeah, that's Walker Wade, man, getting it off of his chest
1:54:40
and I'm helping people out, man. Shoot. Shoot. From the 206 MJ
1:54:50
What's good, man? You know, what's good? Yeah, man. I'm happy for Scottie
1:54:54
Scottie going to show you how fool, fool, fake Cowboy fans. I'm with Cowboy for life
1:55:00
And the guy going to do good. He showed you what he going to do. He told you, Long
1:55:05
He said he going to do the play that you've been talking about, Long. Oh, yeah, yeah. You can hear it, Long
1:55:09
I heard it. He said he didn't say nothing. He told you
1:55:15
That's what Dak Prescott needs. He's going to get in there and help this team win
1:55:19
Now, if Steven is going to go against his daddy, because Steven used to be the cheapest
1:55:25
Jerry tried to come with that cheap shit. Steven was like, no, I got to hire, I'm going to help my boy
1:55:32
So that's what y'all got to be happy for. Steven Jones, cap one, is like he's going against his dad
1:55:39
Now I got hit my boy because my mom is on the line because all the fans is pissed off at you
1:55:45
So I'm gonna see what he gonna do That's the key to see if he gonna help the coach
1:55:49
But I ain't worried about the players because all the players in that office alignment
1:55:53
No, it's gonna grind this shit out and piss some more in their mouth
1:55:57
So you guys stop talking about that stupid ass 30 years school is my French
1:56:01
No, you're good We had a we had about 18 goddamn time to go to the Super Bowl and our players choke
1:56:08
So maybe this is going to come with the right play calling at the right time
1:56:13
and we got a chance to go to the Super Bowl. No doubt. I'm going to act like some bonehead Cowboys famous
1:56:20
Appreciate you, man. How about them, MJ? Come on with it. Yes, indeed
1:56:26
He's getting them all out of it. F, shit, F. I get it
1:56:31
For 30 years, it's all fault, y'all. It's the Cowboys' fault, man
1:56:35
Dog it. God, dog it. It's all fault, man. I got Pastor Tim, man, for the 469 and 240, and then I got my guy G. Cuddy
1:56:44
Hang tight for us, man. Pastor Tim, you're live on the nation, man
1:56:48
Talk to me, man. Yes, sir. This goes after Jerry Jones. Okay
1:56:56
The circus clown. Okay. I feel like, you know, I'm buying some peanuts in, and I'm sitting there cheering them on
1:57:06
I'm sitting there watching the clown running around and turning back flips and everything
1:57:12
And I'm like, man, Jerry Jones, get it together, man. We hear you
1:57:19
But we don't believe you. I'll tell you. It's going to be a day one day
1:57:27
It's going to be a time. Come on with it. Jerry Jones, you're going to have to step away
1:57:33
You're going to have to step away for the game. because your time is up
1:57:38
Your time is up, Jerry Jones. Your time is up. Your time is easy
1:57:43
When I say that, it's time to step back and let the young come up and shine
1:57:53
Wake up. Wake up. Appreciate you, Pastor Tim, man. Wake up, you know, and let me hear you say it, dog
1:58:02
How about some cowboys? Oh, my gosh, boy
1:58:15
He's at, oh. All right, for the 2-4-0, man, you're live, man, on the nation, man
1:58:31
Talk to me, bro. What you got? 2-4-0. What's up? What's good with you, G, man
1:58:38
This is the first time I've ever been on your show live. This is what's up
1:58:43
I'm him now. I'm on the show live. I've been a fan since 1976
1:58:48
I remember I was in elementary school and I was talking to being a Dallas Cowboys fan
1:58:53
I said, okay. The dude told me, he said, hey, man, it's the American team. They back then
1:58:58
He said, you got to do this. So I said, yeah, I'll be a Cowboys fan
1:59:02
So I've been following him for a very long time. Okay. You know, I went through the ups and downs of the ups, you know, with Jimmy
1:59:09
You know, I was there with Tom Landry. Go ahead. You know, a little bit. Didn't know a whole lot because I was a youngster then
1:59:14
Didn't know a whole lot about football. And then, you know, got to the point to where Jimmy, then he left
1:59:21
and I was manager for getting rid of Tom. But then I was okay because, okay, well, you know
1:59:26
Jimmy Johnson seems like a good college football coach. He might do something
1:59:30
Sure enough, he did. Now we're on the downs, the downsides. What we say 30 years, which is ridiculous
1:59:40
You know, we've had chances to do something great, could have made moves to make the team better, and chose us in our hands
1:59:48
to do nothing. We didn't choose this, Jerry chose this. So we, boy, that's got to ride with the punches when it comes to dealing with them
1:59:56
We got no say-so in what moves are made, or you know
1:59:59
It happens with the team. We have nothing in that. Right, right, right, right
2:00:03
So what you got for today, man, what you got for today, man, what you took away from this press conference and these sorts of things
2:00:10
Not from this press conference. I'm kind of – I'm at a sixth
2:00:14
I'll give it a sixth. You got a five. I'm at a sixth. You're at a sixth, okay. And I'm at a sixth because I want to give him a chance, you know
2:00:22
he seems like he'd be a good coach, you know, because he challenges. He's going to challenge players
2:00:26
Yeah. You know, challenges, you know, challenge Dak, you know, And that's heading in the right direction
2:00:32
You need a coach who's going to challenge players, you know, make them accountable for, you know, their play on the field
2:00:38
Okay. You know, maybe they'd like to turn some things around. Yep, yep
2:00:42
And they're going to challenge them a little bit, man. I appreciate you for calling in, man
2:00:46
Thank you so much, and I thank you for being part of this show, man. You made things happen for me, man
2:00:51
I appreciate you, bro. That's right. I'll lay home with you. Yes, indeed, man
2:00:56
All right, ladies and gentlemen. Let's do this. Look, we all love the Cowboys
2:01:02
We've all been fans since 1960 and 65 and 70 and 75 and 80 and 85
2:01:09
So the topic is going to be on Shottie, press conference, and how you feel about Shottie going forward for the 2025 season
2:01:23
And we're going to try to stick to that subject line. and we know all of y'all die-hard Cowboy fans here, you know
2:01:31
and we don't need the backstories of it and the origins. All right, so my guy, G. Cuddy, man, what's good, man
2:01:37
What you got for the topic today, bro? What you got? Well, I'm going to be very succinct, man
2:01:45
So remember this name, you know, Eric B. He couldn't get a job because he didn't call the plays
2:01:52
No, no, no, no. We can't hire a coach like that, right? But we saw Matt Nagy never called a play to get a job, flame out, and then come back
2:02:01
Now we got shoddy. Hey, never called a play. He mentioned in the press conference, he said, you know, and then I got fired in Seattle
2:02:10
But no follow-up call, what happened, or, you know, what did you learn from that
2:02:15
How did you get better from that? We didn't get none of that. So then my thing is, I have no confidence that this guy is ready
2:02:22
I know your dad was a legend, even though, you know, let's call it like he is
2:02:26
Right. He won the big games in the playoffs. I mean, let's just be, you know, rest of the soul, right
2:02:31
Right. So I'm just saying, other than that being your dad and he bounced around
2:02:35
why do I feel confident? And, again, you never call plays. So that's all I got, man
2:02:40
No doubt, man. That's from G. Cuddy, man. Now, when we look at Shadi's overall resume, he coached for a lot of teams, man
2:02:51
And Jerry Jones talked about risk and taking risk, and he said he's taking a risk with Shadi now
2:03:00
So, man, we'll see, man. But we raise the blade thin with our patients here, and we're looking for results
2:03:07
Everyone have a reason, but results are what matter. And we wasted about 32 minutes when either it was Clarence or Calvin
2:03:16
one of the brothers, because they had the first shots at it. When it took him 32 minutes, just when they asked him, why did you consider hiring Schottenheimer
2:03:29
He went into a 32 minute solidically. And I wish the brothers would have said, out of all of the candidates, why is Schottenheimer the best candidate
2:03:40
You shouldn't ask, why did you? Because then he would have to narrow it down to the reason why Schottie is the best ultimate candidate
2:03:49
Right, but that's a whole other conversation, and that's probably why I'm not in media, you know, journalism school of journalists
2:03:57
I didn't go there, you know, but you don't have to be a journalist to ask that particular question
2:04:03
because when you start to break down the reasons why, you know, no clones, how wrong from the 202, you lot
2:04:10
What's going on, man? What's good with you, bro? What you got? I'm going to keep it brief
2:04:16
Your man, Jerry, to be real, it kind of sounds like the same thing he said last year
2:04:24
With that all-in, with that BS. But, I mean, Shadi, from what I see with him, from Shadi, Brian, one of the hammers
2:04:36
I feel like if Prescott, if he can make Prescott the same type of quarterback he was
2:04:44
When he first came in the league, a more mobile quarterback, getting him more mobile and getting the running game going
2:04:51
that I'm all for. But right now I feel like big game James
2:04:56
I feel like Michael Irvin at this point. There ain't no discipline in that locker room
2:05:02
Ain't nobody held accountable. You got to have somebody to rule with an iron fist, right
2:05:09
But one of the things that I can't take away for what Shottie did say
2:05:14
that he had a rule when you throw an INT, you get out of the rotation, right
2:05:19
And Dak Prescott got hot at him, and that's what we need more of
2:05:23
We don't need more of like, hey, he threw an interception, and he go over there to that tablet or that pad and look down at it
2:05:29
I think that what would benefit this team is a guy just like Shottie
2:05:35
to hold these guys, continue to hold these guys accountable and don't play the favorites, you know
2:05:40
So that's one of the things that kind of stood out in this interview that I liked, but I wanted to know more of it
2:05:49
And maybe we will get it when he is up there on the stage by himself opposed to having both of the parents there
2:05:56
You know what I'm saying? Like the daddy and the stepdaddy was right there, right there
2:06:00
So he couldn't really go into details. And it was a lot of wasteful talking with Jerry and Steven
2:06:08
Yeah, it was a whole bunch of that. And 10-close, this fan base is too fickle
2:06:16
Like, you got 50% of it. Just like I said, you got 50% of this fan base that really, really want Jerry
2:06:22
to take accountability for his dumbass action. Right. But then you got the other 50% of this fan base that's with him on the stupid
2:06:32
decisions that he's making. Right. And blaming Prescott and blaming the coaches
2:06:36
and it's just like we can't win if we got that mindset in the fan base
2:06:41
Now, if this fan base hit Jerry where it hurts, stop showing up to these games
2:06:46
Stop showing up to these players. Stop coming to these OTAs. Like really hold that man feet to the fire
2:06:52
He's going to feel that shit. He's going to have to change. That's just all I got for the day
2:06:56
No doubt, man. DC for life. There's no clone Tyrone. So it's hard, man, when you have a large fan base because it's going to always be that
2:07:07
Shout out to you, Chip Game Sports TV. He says, facts tells the story
2:07:11
Facts tells, story sells. Good old storytelling Jerry going to sell us up on for sure
2:07:18
I'm at a 5.5 today, law. This is Chip. Okay, appreciate you, man
2:07:23
Thank you so much man for your support and your love and adulation for the nation man And it one of those Take the money out All of it Come on So my thing is y
2:07:37
when you think of the Cowboys, you look at all what they were able to do
2:07:42
from the past to the present. Jerry Jones, you can still see
2:07:49
that he's going to do all of the damn talking. and they are so blind to it that this is the way they operate
2:07:58
and they are comfortable operating that way. They are not going to go out there and get someone to go against the grain
2:08:05
No. But for the 725, you're live, and then the 817, you're next
2:08:10
and I see a few of you guys like for the 915. Hold tight. But 725, you're on the nation
2:08:15
Talk to me. Hey, what's up, Law? How you doing, bro? Great, man
2:08:19
I'm doing great, man. Talk to me, man. What you got? All right. on an interview that I watched on the coach with the new coach
2:08:29
I got some, you know how when we went and hired Jim
2:08:40
we hired Jimmy? Jimmy, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. When we first hired him, he didn't have any experience
2:08:49
when he first came in at the coaching. But he had a lot of momentum coming from winning two championships at Miami Hurricanes
2:08:59
and he had his toy out of Troy Aikman as well as the Playmaker, you know
2:09:06
because he was drafted by Tom Landry. But, yeah, go ahead. Yeah, and so this is the reason why I'm going to give Shadi a chance to coach this team
2:09:19
is because he's got 30 years of experience with other teams, especially with Seattle
2:09:29
Did he go to a Super Bowl with Seattle? No, he wasn't on that train, I believe
2:09:37
I try to make correlations of do he have a ring and things like that
2:09:42
but he don't. Okay. He was on the latter end. Yeah, 2000 and I want to say 17, 18, something like that
2:09:52
18, 19, something like that. But go ahead. Okay. Because I think it's really the coaching issue
2:10:01
I really think that it's the players. And it seems like that Jerry and Stephen Jones is going to look into the agency
2:10:15
and get free agents this time because they didn't do it last year
2:10:20
So I think there is a good chance that we might get some good agents
2:10:25
free agencies to bring to this team to help this team win
2:10:30
No doubt, man. Appreciate your thoughts on that, man, from the 7-2-5. So he believes that the free agency will be the way
2:10:37
I would say this, though. We're going to have to do roster gymnastics with the salary cap
2:10:43
and I just don't think that a person that's bad with money
2:10:47
that don't know how to manage money, who think they do know how to manage money
2:10:52
going to continue to not manage money well. So I truly believe that when we see and hear people come up with creative ideas
2:11:02
on how they can get $100 million to the Cowboys, for one, my only drawback on that
2:11:10
is that even when people come up with creative ideals to put curtains up in the stadium
2:11:18
do they do it, right? So if that's just a simple putting the damn curtains up
2:11:23
Now, when we start talking about money, I'm not going to believe those boys until I see it
2:11:30
I'm like Dowden Thomas. Let me see the holes in the hands. You see what I'm saying
2:11:35
And if I can't feel that hole, I'm not going to be able to trust these Joneses
2:11:40
on being able to, out of thin air, create $100 million. And if they do, if they do, if they have the ability to do it
2:11:51
then I'll sit back and say, I'll make a whole video on it and say, yeah, I was wrong
2:11:56
But I don't believe that they will be willing to do it because they are not eligible
2:12:03
They don't know how to do it. They don't know how to do it. We can go over live for live precept upon precept and talk about how the Philly is able to free up money and talk about how other teams are able to do X, Y and Z things
2:12:17
And they don't do it, you know. So it just calls for pause right there
2:12:23
But eight one seven, you're live on a nation brought to you by Frank affirm dot com
2:12:27
Talk to me. How are we doing, brother? We're doing great, man
2:12:31
What you got? This is my first time on here, man. And I definitely want to give an eight for the hire of Schottenheimer
2:12:40
Number one, we finally have a head coach that is not only the head coach
2:12:46
but now he's the offensive coordinator. You know? What I noticed last year, Mike McCarthy was calling the play
2:12:55
but there was some times I was like, why is Turpin not on the field
2:13:00
And there's Shottie coming Turpin down because he's not on the field. You know
2:13:04
Okay, boy, you've been doing some research. Keep going. Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, little stuff like that
2:13:09
And now you don't have McCarthy in your ear, Dak Prescott. You got Shoddy in your ear, the one who makes the plays
2:13:17
the one who invented the plays. So not only does that makes me feel positive, like when Sean McVay
2:13:24
Sean McVay called the plays, Kyle Shanahan, Kyle Shanahan called the plays
2:13:27
Now we got a head coach that's going to call legitimately all the plays that he made
2:13:35
And number two, I definitely see this being more than 12-5, Law
2:13:43
I definitely see it. I see it, man. It's good to be optimistic about that, man
2:13:48
So you give him an eight, you think that he's going to call the plays better. You and MJ are on the same page
2:13:54
I truly believe third and one, you don't see a Hail Mary out of shoddy system
2:13:59
You see, hey, traditional. And I love the game last night where Joe Brady was calling, even with Josh Allen
2:14:05
You know, he was able to run the ball a little bit
2:14:09
and even though they didn't run it enough, we saw a careful Josh Allen
2:14:16
and that's dealing with coaches, right? So down the stretch, down the line
2:14:22
i'm hearing news out of bills that sean mcdermott is on the hot seat and they may look into joe
2:14:28
brady elevating him as being because that's the wave of the future right like you said
2:14:33
there's more and more head coaches that call plays now and to pick up that trend if you listen to the
2:14:40
last week's episode of troy aikman he lamented the same thing if if given a situation what kind
2:14:47
a head coach you would like. Troy Aikman said, I want a head coach that
2:14:51
calls plays Offensively speaking I leave with this Law A coach is only as good as the players that he can put on the field You know right now we see the Eagles
2:15:06
We see the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Kellen Moore has Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Smitty, Staquan, Goddard
2:15:14
Outside of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, guys, that's all we have right now
2:15:18
But we definitely need to attack that free agency and trade and that NFL draft
2:15:25
We've got to get some players. No doubt. Got to get some players, man
2:15:29
Appreciate you, man. Good call from you. Yeah, Dak Onesfield, he said, I'll take Sean McDermott
2:15:34
Yeah, yeah. Sean McDermott, he's a defensive-minded guy, right? And this year the Bills finished out 26th in defense
2:15:42
They finished out, I believe, 7th or 12th in offense. So, and they got Russo
2:15:50
They got some guys, Milano or Malini, whatever that man's name. They got some pieces on defense, but they didn't do well all year long
2:15:59
And I'm not trying to wager the two. You know, that's Bills. They said they are the new America's team
2:16:04
So, they all got nothing to do with that. From the 9-1-5, you're live
2:16:08
And then we had Josh from the 9-2-something. But 9-1-5, you're live
2:16:12
Talk to me. What's up, what's up, Bloss? What's good with it, huh
2:16:16
Man, all is great, man. What you got for me? Well, as far as the previous caller talking about these other teams
2:16:24
he's got to take to account that those organizations are well run
2:16:31
You know what I mean? They actually got adequate front office people running that show
2:16:35
They don't got billionaires that go on a cruise or however. When free agency starts, they're not doing anything
2:16:43
Yeah, they go to Belize over here. They go to Belize and all Cowboys and stuff
2:16:49
That's the big difference. That's difference number one, you know. As far as Shadi and his interview, don't really got much to say about it
2:16:58
I think it went as expected. Jerry took a lot of the time
2:17:04
He spoke. He spoke in like these soliloquies, man. And I'm with you a lot
2:17:08
I'm like over here like, dude, somebody interrupt this guy for real, dude
2:17:12
Like, they ask a question, takes 30 minutes of the press conference, and then it's just like, okay, then everybody has to rush through it, you know
2:17:19
Right, right. And these, man, these people, like, I get it. Media is different, you know
2:17:24
It's not like how, you know, us ordinary folks, we could just, like, go back and forth and talk about it and stuff like that
2:17:31
you know, and I get it that they want to continue. But, man, dude, other than James Slater, I feel like this media, they're soft, man
2:17:38
They just like to throw these softball questions to these Jones boys
2:17:44
They could just deflect, and they could just like, I mean, out of all of them
2:17:48
I think Jane is the only one that she actually asked. I give Tim a little love on that interview, and Patrick Noce Walker, I give them too
2:18:00
Yeah, Clarence too. Clarence is good. Yeah, I like Clarence as well. I watch him too on the DLLS
2:18:06
So, yeah, but I just like, I just noticed that maybe it's just a personal thing
2:18:12
with the front office and Jane Slade, but I noticed that every time she asks questions, man, that's when they get, like, upset
2:18:18
You know, like, there's a certain tone when it comes to her, you know? No doubt
2:18:23
Maybe. But appreciate you for calling in, man. Great observation, too, by the way
2:18:26
Good call. Yeah, Slater, you know, he's trying to slide. I know you try to do that
2:18:34
I wasn't going to say why you're on the phone, but I get it. But, uh, can shoddy, can shoddy up his play call postseason in the, is the, come on
2:18:47
Sidney said, let me just try to read that again. Hold on, Sidney. I want to, I want to make sure I read your super chat correctly
2:18:54
can shoddy up his play call postseason
2:19:05
is the question okay okay is the question can shoddy upgrade his play calling in the postseason
2:19:13
my thing is and we still need playmakers man we need somebody else i don't want to put the game
2:19:21
all on for and i get it he's getting paid 60 million that's first thing people gonna say hey
2:19:26
you know this guy getting paid 60 million and and and that's what he's trying to do
2:19:33
uh is get it all on his back no i i need at least give me two-dimensional you know what i'm saying
2:19:40
on offense let me get a running back that can run and give us some some play action going and he said
2:19:48
that in the in this presser he said hey it brings play action to the table and i want to be
2:19:54
multi-dimensional so that's what i want to see but before we can start talking about postseason
2:20:01
the number one goal for right now in the cowboys is to assemble this this is the order of operation
2:20:08
get your staff together right your philosophy together and then you got the staff and your
2:20:15
philosophy together now you got that and then you what you got to do is look through all of the
2:20:22
players you got you got 26 free agent players on this team not all of them gonna be welcome back
2:20:28
go through that find the ones that you want to be in in-house who believe in your principle
2:20:35
and your philosophy and your staff right hold those boys accountable and then after you do
2:20:40
your own inventory you go looking for other teams and you pull them and say hey i'm gonna get this
2:20:49
player i'm gonna get that player and then you go into the draft then there's a many free agency
2:20:54
after the draft because people going to cut some players that they drafted
2:20:58
they'll cut some of the players that's already on their team because they drafted the player
2:21:03
and now you're supposed to go in there well and deal and then by the time the season kick off
2:21:09
in the preseason. What I ultimately want is for us to not play no political football
2:21:18
for us to get the most value out of the guys that's going to play
2:21:23
in the regular season. I don't want to use week one and week two
2:21:27
as a preseason game. We are not on that level. We need to be out here
2:21:33
letting these guys get ready so we can do a full true evaluation
2:21:38
So with a 53-man that's going to play week one, we are there in week one already in shape
2:21:47
And I know it's going to be a far stretch for us to do that. But we got to at least attempt to head in those directions, right
2:21:56
I got from the 719, and then I got the 100 grand with the plan, and I see Sway 956
2:22:05
So 719 You're live on the nation Brought to you by FranklFirm.com
2:22:11
What you got for me? What up Law? This is Nico from 719
2:22:15
Like you said It's my first time calling you But I've been a long time listener So I want to say thank you for that first
2:22:20
Thank you bro Absolutely brother You bring great straight information And you allow us real fans To use words that we can When we call Nick Eatman to call him a sad pansy ass All I going to say is you got Nick Eatman kissing Jerry Jones ass all the damn time on his storyline show
2:22:39
that don't even let us tell the story, so let me tell you a story. Here it is
2:22:43
Brian Schottenheimer, here's how I see it. You're another kiss ass. You're another man that comes up that list just like Jim Carrey
2:22:52
You're saying yes So let me hear you say yes To the Dallas Cowboys fans
2:22:58
Stand the up Put your foot down Stop Jerry Jones and his damn broken Ford Bronco
2:23:04
And give us a damn ring Because I ain't seen one since I was 12
2:23:08
I am 40 And let me tell you something man I'm a freaking first responder
2:23:12
And every day I go out and put my life on the damn line And I may not come home
2:23:16
But when I come home I want to hear the Dallas Cowboys Are the champions
2:23:20
It's not Dallas Cowboys with a sad-ass crowd. We are a joke right now
2:23:24
And Jerry Jones and Steven Jones, this is your fault, not the fans' fault
2:23:30
That's all I got, Law. Love you, man. I'm out. Much love to you, man. Oh, my
2:23:34
Boy, oh, boy, he deserves some horns with that. Get it off his chest, man
2:23:39
Oh, my gosh, man. Boy. I would be petty and name drop him
2:23:49
you know put him on Twitter and tag Nick even in Mickey's bags
2:23:54
and all of them but I ain't gonna do it but man y'all can do it y'all can cut it up
2:23:57
and say hey man I come over to the nation man to be able to spit my mind
2:24:02
for this I got a brother from another mother no other don't look like Danny Glover
2:24:11
but keep it cool with a 100 grand Man, with the plan, man
2:24:15
What's good with you, bro? Man, everything is great, man. Another 365 on the globe
2:24:22
Oh, yeah, man. Happy birthday to you, man. I know you got your hand, dog
2:24:28
You know what I'm saying? Later, you know, man. Yeah. I'm going to get that tomahawk later on
2:24:35
Tomahawk with the lobster mac and cheese. Oh, my goodness, man. Yeah, get the asparagus tips, though, man
2:24:42
Get the tips, man, asparagus. The tips, man. Hell yeah, man. Shoot, eat big, dog, because my birthday on the 2nd, so February
2:24:56
Okay, okay. So it's coming up weekend. Hell yeah. So get the asparagus tips, man, and the lobster mac and cheese
2:25:04
You got to celebrate your B-Day all weekend, man. We'll do one day, man
2:25:08
I know. We'll do all weekend, man. It's going to be celebrated all week, man
2:25:13
So, yeah. Yes, indeed. You know what I'm saying? But this press conference, man, it just sounded like a carving copy, dog
2:25:23
That's exactly what it sounded like, law. I was not impressed at all
2:25:27
I was just pissed off, man. It just sounded like a carving copy, man
2:25:31
I don't want to, sorry, shoddy, but I don't want to hear the crying and the tears and all this
2:25:38
And it was my dream. I don't want to hear that. They panned around
2:25:42
They got some sympathies off of us because we wanted to say something, but I'm like, man, look, you got moms in there
2:25:50
You got the kids. You put the kids in there, man. You know, you kind of like, I wanted to say something so bad, but I'm like, yeah
2:25:59
My mom was sitting there whispering to me from heaven. Boy, you better hush. I get it
2:26:05
I get it. But, you know, he's talking about Super Bowls. He didn't say I'm going to win one
2:26:11
He talking about Super Bowls. Now, I kind of perk my ears up because I'm okay
2:26:18
He's speaking boldly. He says Super Bowls. He ain't talking one. And Jerry and Steven won't even mention the word Super Bowls
2:26:25
And he over here talking about Super Bowls. But you need Jerry and Steven in order to get those Super Bowls
2:26:31
And y'all talking about that press got this. That press got that
2:26:36
I've watched in those games. Jalen Hurts didn't have to do nothing but hand the ball off to Saquon Barkley
2:26:42
and he did all the work. Josh Allen had plenty of drives where all he did was hand the ball off
2:26:48
and he threw one pass for seven yards. But these are the quarterbacks y'all love
2:26:53
They love them, man. These are quarterbacks that y'all love, and they don't do nothing
2:26:57
But you know what? You know what I love, though? You know what I love, though, about that
2:27:03
You know, when Nicholas Sariani, when he got up there and they were going to the Super Bowl, he spoke boldly about his quarterback
2:27:12
You know what I'm saying? He said, that's my guy. That's my naysayer right there
2:27:17
That naysayer right there, that's mine. You know what I'm saying? I'm like, yeah, yeah
2:27:21
So maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, Shadi is going to be like, that naysayer, Dak, that's mine right there, man
2:27:31
I believe in him. I heard that already in the press conference
2:27:35
Yeah. He said, look, Dak, that's my guy. That's my guy. You can't tell me nothing bad about Dak Prescott
2:27:41
You heard him in a press conference, and that's what I want to hear
2:27:45
But I'm talking about when you sit there and say, oh, this quarterback is great
2:27:49
That quarterback is great. In these playoff games, I did not see Jalen Hurts go out there and put up 55 by himself
2:27:58
I don't want Dak to do. I did not see Josh Allen go out there and throw the ball like a magician all over the football field yesterday
2:28:08
I did not see that. The Eagles ran the ball 36 times yesterday
2:28:13
They did in the mighty name of Saquon. Was that Jalen Hurts throwing the football 36 times
2:28:21
No. But y'all sit there and say Jalen Hurts is awesome. The Eagles is great and Jalen Hurts is great
2:28:27
We need a quarterback like Jalen Hurts. Oh, shit. I've seen Dallas got to step up and make catches
2:28:38
I've seen Smitty make catches. I've seen A.J. Brown make catches. It ain't just Jalen Hurts out there
2:28:45
Right. If it was Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown and they had that boy
2:28:51
whatever that other running back name is out there, and they won the football game with Jalen Hurts throwing the ball 36 times
2:29:00
I sit right up here and I say Jalen Hurts is the goddamn man
2:29:05
But that ain't the case. That ain't the case, man. But that's the scenario in Dallas because you got Dak and you got CeeDee and that's it
2:29:14
Yeah, and do you know what they do? You know what they do all in my comments
2:29:18
Law, you just Dak Prescott Apologies Dak had Zeke I'm sitting there like
2:29:26
He had Zeke Yeah, year one Year one When you got
2:29:36
God damn Saquon Barkley 60 yard run 70 yard run 80 yard run
2:29:43
And not just one time In the football game Three and four times
2:29:47
This boy running It was 60 and 70 yards in the game
2:29:52
When have you seen Zeke do that? I saw Zeke do that
2:29:58
Zeke is the... No. Come on, no. Oh, my God. No, no, man
2:30:06
When you've seen Zeke run 360-yard runs in one game. Never, man
2:30:11
His whole career, one game. Whenever you've seen him do it, three times like Saquon
2:30:16
Man, that's Saquon Chico, bro. You've never seen it. Yeah. him the only time the only time i can say is that if you go back to that 2018 that's how far we got
2:30:30
to go back zeke had 125 yards rushing in that game and i i said man that's that's what we need
2:30:36
to do we need to run the ball man uh we undefeated man when we got zeke like that uh if you look at
2:30:43
like what james cook did the other night he averaged people for the real life 6.5 yards
2:30:49
on the ground. Cooks were cooking. Y'all great quarterback. Mahomes, don't do shit
2:30:57
Okay, okay. Let me run out to the right. Throw the ball. It's a catch
2:31:03
Oh, Mahomes made a great throw. It's the running back out there
2:31:07
putting in work. The running back. And he got guys too. He got Kelsey. He got that other
2:31:13
receiver. And ain't just Mahomes by itself putting the team on his back
2:31:18
They got players out there. Man, you preaching, bro. Give Dak Prescott these same players and watch Dak Prescott do the same thing
2:31:29
But we don't have it. We don't have it. But you know what I'm going to do, though
2:31:34
I just need my homes to do it one more time. Oh, yes, sir
2:31:38
Oh, yes, sir. Yes, sir. I need my homes to do it
2:31:43
Look, look, come on. Can he do it one more time for your boy
2:31:48
But Chris Jones and all of those boys on the defense, I just need for y'all to stop the run and for it hurts to throw the ball
2:31:57
Just one more time, Spagnola, all of those boys, you know what I'm saying
2:32:02
I agree. So that's all I – so the great Pat Mahomes
2:32:06
I know he got Sylvan Blue on somewhere up under that jersey somewhere, man
2:32:11
I agree. Yeah. I agree. And we ain't even going to talk about the culture, man
2:32:15
The culture is terrible. And y'all sit there and say, well, the players, man, they got no accountability
2:32:21
They do whatever they want. What about these other teams, Law? Yeah
2:32:25
I'm pretty sure the Cowboys ain't the only team that don't sit in a hotel and do all this
2:32:31
The Eagles got goddamn gilly in the locker room. He's running on the field like he's playing on the team
2:32:38
All types of shit. And y'all, I don't hear nothing about culture over there and how they running a nice, a crazy ship over there
2:32:48
He's killing like he's playing. He's getting searched. He's getting NFC searched like he done played
2:32:54
He's running on the field doing ah-ah-ah like he played on the goddamn team
2:32:59
And I don't hear nobody talking about that shit over there in Philly
2:33:03
But because it's the Cowboys, y'all want to talk about how the players mean more accountability
2:33:08
about accountability Give us players And we will win the game
2:33:13
I want these players to be comfortable Well yeah you're right man
2:33:17
You know I would say When the 49ers came out there When it got that
2:33:26
Boo box radio Bopping the Kodak black I didn't hear nothing about accountability then
2:33:31
Man I appreciate you Wanting to grab man Hey hey Happy birthday to you, man
2:33:38
I really appreciate you for calling in, man. Yeah, on your birthday, bro
2:33:43
Appreciate you, man. You know, happy birthday to my guy, 100 grand with the playhead
2:33:49
Boy, we can talk about culture all day, man, but talent is talent, you know
2:33:56
And, of course, you need a little bit of a mixture of both. but philly they in they embody the i'm i'm i'm gonna be an asshole to you you know what i'm saying
2:34:08
that's just what it is shoot if philly i will watch it you know after they don't want a man
2:34:15
to pull out a gun and start shooting in the air and they were still like oh wow you know it's still
2:34:20
philly if somebody pull out a gun in dallas boy you'll see everybody turn to the usain boat you
2:34:26
You know, we ain't finna be hanging around talking about, yeah. Boy, I finna just put on that persona, man
2:34:33
And let's be real, man. They got athletes. They got players, you know
2:34:40
As far as East is from West is the same equivalency is from Jalen Brooks from Smitty
2:34:49
You know, we can't get a Smitty out of Jalen Brooks. We can't get a Smitty out of Jalen Tobert or any of the Jalens we got
2:34:58
But the levels of expectations are that, A, with A.J. Brown and Smitty
2:35:05
that we have the equivalency. No, it doesn't equate. Now, we do have C.D. Lamb, you know
2:35:13
And to me, C.D. Lamb, I would take C.D. Lamb over the other two wide receivers there
2:35:18
but it's easier to game plan against one opposed to two and as soon as i'll be watching the defense
2:35:27
they'll be like as soon as they get a lock in on aj because you still got to roll coverage either
2:35:35
you're gonna press them or you're gonna play too high but then as soon as you do that you got saquon
2:35:41
in the backfield their offensive line they are not playing around with experimentation Jordan Maulata yes he may have been a seventh draft pick but the brother is humongous out there and he moving stuff around
2:35:58
It's not like a Tyler Guyton, you know, and a Terrence Steele
2:36:02
Come on, baby. So they have an offensive line. They coached well
2:36:06
They know who they are. They know what their identity is. If it's fourth and one, they're going to push it, right
2:36:12
If it's fourth and two, they're going to try to push it and push it, you know. So this is what it is
2:36:17
The Cowboys, fourth and one, spread empty. Let's go shotgun. You know, two different philosophies, two different coaching strategies and things like that
2:36:27
So I'm not saying that they are light years ahead of us, but they crafted their team in a way to protect their quarterback
2:36:36
They say, okay, this is our quarterback. We don't like our quarterback
2:36:40
We love him. So let's figure out ways to put things around him so that he can win
2:36:46
but I can say the exact same thing. And there is going to be somebody saying, yelling, stop with the excuses
2:36:54
Like, no, there's a reason why Smitty is Smitty, right? And there's a reason why Jalen Brooks is Jalen Brooks
2:37:01
But somebody is still yelling, hey, stop the excuses. But this is how it goes
2:37:07
I got where you went for the nine, five, six. You're live in the mix
2:37:13
Talk to me, Sway. Hey, what's going on, Law? Not much, man
2:37:18
Man, I'm going to be quick with it. Kind of just almost talking about the same thing I mentioned on Friday
2:37:26
I'm hoping we won't see much difference next year. I'm trusting that there was some backroom deal with Shadi for a 2025 tanking season plan
2:37:36
You heard it here first, Law, on Friday. Man, yeah, we know Dak needs a Saquon, you know, just like Javen does
2:37:44
to be the same rookie season Dak that we've seen before. But he was never a mobile running quarterback
2:37:50
Like, he was never that. We've seen Dak stealing and now stack the injuries
2:37:55
the leg injuries on top of that. I mean, we've seen the best of Dak already
2:38:00
That's in the rearview mirror. But we need to build one future
2:38:05
We need to build our future one loss at a time. Arch Manning 20-26
2:38:09
That's what we need to shoot for. I mean, who would you say he's going to come out in 2026
2:38:16
He's still got two years of eligibility. He might come out to 2027
2:38:22
I think he's going to go two years. Because he pretty much didn't really play that much this year
2:38:30
And he's how Arch Manning is. And you will have to lose every game, and we don't suck that much
2:38:38
We won't be able to lose every game. So here's my mentality right here, Ilan
2:38:43
You know, we need to throw all these diva deadweights out the window, man, and stack up number one draft picks
2:38:49
I would say CD out, Diggs out, Micah out. I mean, we can get number ones for them and maybe get them on 2026
2:38:58
If Manning backs out, goes 2027, then maybe we trade those for 2027 picks
2:39:04
I mean, we need dogs on defense like Jalen Carter, man. Did you see a dude punch the center on that encroaching penalty and then, like, smile about it
2:39:13
Like, that dude is a dog, man. Like, Micah, he stacks up meaningless sacks
2:39:18
He's good at a mediocre podcast. That's about it, man. Like, let's get a number one draft pick for him
2:39:24
Someone will give him a – maybe throw him to Washington. The coach that dude, I forget his name, he'll give us a number one draft pick for him
2:39:31
I mean, you heard it here first. On Friday, I think we need a tank for Arch Manning 2026, Law
2:39:38
That's all I got for you. All right. Sway for the 956. And every time Sway called in, I'd be like, how Sway, how Sway
2:39:47
Because, you know, Elijah Robinson says Arch is not coming out on 2026
2:39:54
I think Arch is going to come out in 2027, you know. And for every Josh Rosen, there's a Josh Frozen, right
2:40:01
You know what I'm saying? I mean, for every Josh Allen, there's a Josh Rosen, right
2:40:05
Josh Rosen. I heard people say, let's tank for Jack Rosen, you know
2:40:10
Let's tank for Zach, whatever that guy's name. Zach something. I can't even remember his name
2:40:16
He played for Jack Wilson. Let's tank for Zach Wilson. But those people that bang on the table for those guys
2:40:25
you get the softer, softer bang on the table, you know. So it's not as easy as possible as people think
2:40:34
I got from the 774, then I got the 267. But it's from the 774, you're live
2:40:39
J. May, talk to me. Man, I don't know what story is talking about, bro
2:40:44
I respect everyone's opinion, man, but why would you want to just trade all your number one players for unproven players
2:40:53
I don't get that anyway. But as far as that press conference, I swear to God
2:41:00
I think it was a complete copy of Dave Campos' press conference, Jason Garrett's press conference, and Mike McCoppy's press conference
2:41:09
It was literally the same questions with the same answers, and I feel bad for the reporters because they're handcuffed
2:41:16
They're handcuffed. They can't really throw these hotball questions because they know Jerry will get on them
2:41:22
and do whatever he has to do to get rid of him. So it's just terrible, man
2:41:27
I think Jerry Jones is doing whatever he can. He's accepting the role of the villain
2:41:33
He's just accepting it. He loves seeing these videos where the Redskins, I'm sorry, the commanders
2:41:39
and the Eagles fans and Dallas sucks Jerry loves that stuff and he taking on the role of the villain bro And it sad because now the people who got to pay for it are us
2:41:50
the Cowboys nation, the Cowboys family. You know, it's terrible, bro. And, man, I'm just heartbroken
2:41:58
This is a bad day. I just don't like this coaching staff, man
2:42:02
So I know you got some calls, man. I'll let you get to it, brother, and thank you once again
2:42:06
Man, appreciate you, man. You know, appreciate you, man. Good call from you. Yeah, so there's how it goes, man
2:42:16
Wait a minute. You know, my guy, Action Powers, he says, law, law, law, law, you know
2:42:25
Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold will change the franchise. Tebow 2.0 is coming, and it's already starting today
2:42:35
It's Lamar Jackson. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I got some, look, look, Colin Coward, Josh Rosen, look what he said about it
2:42:45
Yeah, yeah. Colin Coward's worst take. You want to know who won the draft
2:42:50
The teams that got franchise quarterbacks. Arizona got a kid as good as Josh Rosen at number 10
2:42:57
The New York Jets got the best quarterback, in my opinion, at number three
2:43:02
They won the draft. Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold will change the franchise
2:43:10
Hey, man, I remember, man. I remember that. Now, come on, man
2:43:14
Y'all know I got these receipts, man. Come on, man. And when he said that
2:43:21
go look at his comments on the original post of that and you will hear people say
2:43:27
yeah, Dak is whack, man. Let's go get Josh Rosen. Yeah, let's go get Sam Darnold
2:43:33
You know what I'm saying? But Sam Donald, he had a good year this year. So, hey, he earned some more stripes off of that video
2:43:43
So now, do y'all believe me? I keep receipts now. Come on now
2:43:49
Yo, I keep the receipts, man, just in case I have to repurchase something, man
2:43:55
from the 267, man. You're live. Jay, where are they? What's good? Yo, what's up with you, man
2:44:01
How you feel, bro? Man, I'm doing good, man. That's good. Speaking about Philly, you know I live here
2:44:08
Oh, Lord, man. Oh, my God. They was wilding out last night, Lord
2:44:12
When I tell you, I couldn't tell the difference between fireworks and gunshots last night
2:44:17
The only thing I can decipher was beeping horns. So, you know, that's just the Philly mentality in general
2:44:27
Philly, we just don't give a you-know-what. Yeah. And so that's how the players adopted that type of attitude
2:44:34
You got Gilly up in the locker room running on the field and stuff like that. That's Philly
2:44:40
They don't care. So they let them be themselves. And that's why we're talking about comfortability with the players
2:44:47
You got to let those dogs out. You got to let them be themselves
2:44:52
But as far as with Shottie, did you see the press conference
2:44:56
jerry uh throw dac under the bus about that contract dispute yeah yeah he said what took
2:45:02
me so long ask dac you know so ask dac what took him so long so that that's that's layers upon
2:45:11
layers because aren't you the general manager aren't you the g aren't you the guy that that
2:45:17
hold the gun right and if he's the moving target you're supposed to be able to hit because you're
2:45:23
one with the gun. But neither here nor there, he said, ask that
2:45:29
There could be so many gray areas in that comment there, though
2:45:34
Yeah, it is. That's why we're a mix of the clown show. Come on
2:45:38
Don't throw your quarterback under the bus. We don't do that. That's why we have this problem and this mentality now
2:45:44
We are laughing stock. Because they're going to run with that, especially in the media
2:45:49
They're going to run with that. But anyway, if you listen to Shadi, you know, Shadi, he leaks some of his play calling
2:46:00
and how he's going to move with his offense, speaking about the motion and things like that
2:46:05
and trying to make Dak feel really comfortable, you know, which is going to be good
2:46:10
We love that. I can't wait to see it. I've got to see it to believe it. Right
2:46:15
Power Boys Nation, you might not want to hear this, but this is the positive and the upside
2:46:20
because we're angry. The Philadelphia Eagles have been in the Super Bowl in the last 10 years three times
2:46:27
And if you think about it, we are a top-five team in the NFL when healthy, are we not
2:46:37
Yep. When healthy, when we got all our players and when we're all healthy, we top-five team
2:46:43
Shadi is going to look like a genius next year. Why? Because we are going to play a third-place schedule
2:46:51
No doubt, man. We're going to play a third-place schedule. But we are a top-five team
2:46:57
So when we're coming back, when we're fully healthy, when we're playing that third-place mediocre schedule
2:47:03
we're going to blow through that. No doubt, man. Let's hope all that happens for you, Jake, man
2:47:08
I hope we can do all of that, bro, for real, for real, man
2:47:12
and just blow the doors off of that third-place schedule and hope everybody can stay healthy and be on the same accord
2:47:19
That's the key. Yes, indeed. That's the key, Law. Appreciate you calling in. And that's the key, but no problem, my bro
2:47:25
How about them Cowboys? How about them, man? From the 215, you're live on the nation
2:47:30
Talk to me. What good OG Law How you doing today bro Not much man How you feeling I fine Now because fine Now because it was on mute I don know This is Chris from Philly
2:47:42
The Eagles fan. Okay. Oh, the Eagles fan, man. Hey, congratulations, man, to going to the Super Bowl
2:47:48
I can't wait to see what y'all do when it's all said and done
2:47:52
Hey, OG Law, I know you want to tenderize that meat. I know you want to say, hey, I understand you want us to take a loss
2:48:01
So, only reason why I'm calling in today, because I was going to let it go
2:48:05
but your man 100 grand called in. And he said last time, I'm not going to make it long, we was one and done
2:48:16
We not going nowhere in our defense with ass. Now we're going to the Super Bowl, all of a sudden he's saying we got all this stuff
2:48:26
We was a good team then, we a good team now. And hopefully, you know, I want y'all to be good because I like competition
2:48:33
No doubt. And, of course, if you're good, that means we got to step ourselves up as well
2:48:39
So hopefully Jerry is not as delusional as he's sounding talking about a stick
2:48:44
and a ping pong ball out in the backyard. Man, ain't no way in the world, bro
2:48:49
You a closet cowboy fan, Chris. You got to be, man. I don't even know what y'all on a side like
2:48:56
I don't even know how he sounds like. I don't know how he sounds like, you know
2:49:01
Jeffrey Lurie, I don't know. But you sat through a two, three-hour interview listening to our Cowboys, man
2:49:09
When your team finna go to the doggone Super Bowl, bro. Huh? He's talking about a stick in the ping pong
