1:14
As always, I have Sean Slatt, who's in Saskatoon today in his world travels

Now, in this day and age, why is this so important to be with a Canadian company? Well, two reasons. One, if you're in Canada, you might as well get 100 cents on your dollar
3:54
and not have to worry about conversions and what the US dollar is doing in any of that
3:59
If you're in the US, why not take advantage of a strong US dollar and get a discount even more

4:29
Well, guys, we've got a few things to take a look at before we head into NLL and the ALL
4:36
We talked about their finalists. Well, they have their award winners now. And, well, let's put that up
4:43
And, of course, the most valuable player is Parker Pfeiffer of the Toronto Monarchs
4:50
The coach of the year is from the champion Brampton Express, says Jeff Dowley
4:54
Rookie of the Year is Caden Merritt from the Paris Riverwolves. We have the AL East first and second team All-Stars
5:09
First team is Lucas Cooch, Jonah Boehm, Nick Ellers and Nate Woods
5:13
Parker Beifer, and John St. John. The second team is Devlin Shanahan, Jameson Dilks, Matt Poe Snow
5:20
Mitch Zulian, Cam Milligan, and Curtis Ward. Number of names you guys would recognize, eh
5:28
Tell me how much ALL helps. Yes. The All-East rookie first team is Ethan Robertson, Joey Zabo, Stone Jacobs
5:37
Nate Woods, Jacob Janke, and Caden Merritt. And the All-East rookie second team, Sam Forbes, Aaron Poirier, Jordan McKenna
5:47
Joss Sanchez, Cayman Diablo, and Zach Thompson. Congratulations to everybody
5:59
And thus ends another ALL season. You know what that means, don't you guys
6:05
That's right. Summer Bowl. Summer Bowl is right around the corner. The bread and cheese game is set for Victoria Day weekend
6:13
which is the third Monday in May, just about a month away now
6:18
And, of course, I believe it's Brampton this year with Six Nations
6:22
If you are in the Ontario region, that is a free game over at the ILA
6:28
and they will give away the Six Nations T-shirts. It's worth the drive right there
6:33
And, of course, you've got to get your chicken wrap. Guts to get you
6:40
We're going to put up a counter for you, Gary. I go up there
6:43
It's going to be a running counter the whole season. It's going to be right in the corner. Even when there's no game
6:48
there's enough for three days worth of food in that thing so you know i'm good until wednesday
6:55
if i go sunday but that's saturday twice a week gets me through the week you know
7:02
you can't make this stuff up because it's pretty pretty awesome you know we're gonna we're gonna bring somebody on right away because i see the smile in his eyes
7:13
and uh well he's got the same bleary look as the rest of us hi caden were you on the road
7:20
like me yesterday your eyes are the same you muted crying pain suffering harm every just you know every every everything
7:35
God, it hurts. You know, sometimes you have to look at the glass half full as opposed to half empty
7:45
I look at it this way with the Rock injury-prone season. And, well, they actually had a win last night
7:50
But you look at some of the positives of you have Dyson Williams now in the mix and representing well
8:00
You have Alex Simmons, and he's got another year under his belt and accredited himself very well as well
8:09
You worked your way through in what I call character building, which was a very, very disheartening middle of the season
8:17
And with the exception of this weekend's game, really played a big role in who was getting in and who was getting out of the playoffs
8:28
So I would, if I were a firewolf, I would hold my head up very high and say that we achieved a lot of things
8:37
even though the second season isn't part of it. And I hold on to that with The Rock, too, because, you know, we don't have a second season either
8:46
unless you're looking at MSL. Yeah. I guess the first point to look at it is
8:54
after the really rough start that they had going 2-8, losing all those close games
8:59
that being a win away, and obviously a bit of extra scenarios
9:04
but realistically being a win away from the playoffs was, in my opinion, after, again, like that rough start
9:12
and I know Clark is thinking it, I know the whole team is thinking it, that it's a huge it's a huge accomplishment because the the whole the whole league had their
9:22
eyes on them on us after going to the finals last year and um playing buffalo and it's oh keep an
9:29
eye on these guys like they're you know they're young and exciting and still one of the youngest
9:36
teams in the league and we're just adding obviously right before the deadline ended you
9:40
grab pesco you grab jackson which are two big ones they obviously made their names
9:45
known going in to the end of the season. So that's going to be two huge additions for us going into next season
9:53
Hopefully they can actually reestablish the Ethan O'Connor. I don't know, since he was signed to a one-year deal
9:59
he should be set into through next season. But that's another good one
10:06
Like, you know, with the injuries that plague this team, having a guy like Ethan O'Connor, not only as a veteran
10:12
to calm the minds of the younger players, but also as a very solid defender who can help us win games
10:22
And, I mean, even in the short time he was there, he proved that. Absolutely
10:26
Now, let me ask you this. When you guys were sitting at 2-8, did you think it was going to come down to the last game of the season
10:32
of whether you're coming into the playoffs or whether that had been a dream scenario
10:36
you know they they never looked at are we still in are we still out it was always just taking it
10:47
one game at a time so I felt like that was the I kind of try to follow the mindset that you know
10:54
Clark you talked about in the press conferences and before the games is that like you know we're
10:59
never truly out of it until that x or that e comes up on the on the board we're never truly out of it
11:07
and i mean that this proved it i mean now you can never look at it and say uh two and eight we're
11:14
not gonna make it now you can say hey we may start weak but never give up and you can still
11:22
you can still make a run for it and then it's may and i mean like the same thing as with any
11:28
playoffs is that literally anything can happen so you just inch your way in there and you're in
11:34
like i know uh there's a lot of um scenarios and examples one of my favorite scenarios is uh 2012
11:43
with the la kings and when they just sneaked in to the stanley cup final into stanley cup playoffs
11:49
as the second wild card and went all the way to win it so literally anything is possible
11:57
Yeah, all you got to do is get in. And then the fun begins
12:01
But like I say, I think, because none of us would have bet a nickel that Albany was going to be even anywhere close to playing for a playoff spot at 2-8
12:13
They were sitting there. I had as much faith with them as I did with the Toronto Rock making the playoffs starting the season 0-5
12:20
And that was none. So, you know, and even if they did, what was I expecting
12:27
if a team is showing that. So there's a lot to build from
12:31
And, of course, there's a lot of off-season tinkering to do. But I think that the core in Albany is pretty set
12:40
And it's maturing. I actually, to put it straight, is I think they played over their heads the year previous
12:49
Yeah. And this is a little bit come-to-earth thing and character building
12:53
and this is what builds you know team work team togetherness and through adversity you know if
13:00
everything is handed to you you never really know what it's like and when adversity happens the team
13:04
crumbles once you have to play through adversity that's when the character building happens and i
13:10
think this team has a lot of savvy because they never ever look like they were completely out and
13:15
there were some games that were just demoralizing yeah you know i bring the dolby game up not to not
13:20
Not to really get in your craw, but just that, if there's a game that's demoralizing
13:23
is one guy scoring eight times in the fourth in overtime. That would be enough to make anybody go, but they didn't
13:32
Yeah. They didn't. They picked themselves up, dusted themselves off. You know, had a couple of games like that, picked themselves up
13:38
dusted themselves off, came back for the next one. You lose your captain for a bunch of games, who is heart and soul
13:45
who is your transition guy, and you find ways around that. he comes back and makes an immediate impact
13:53
Well, now we definitely know why Colt is wearing the seat. Yeah
13:59
And, you know, at the start, you mentioned Dyson, and I don't want to take away from the season he had
14:06
I mean, 64 points in his first year is huge, especially putting up 26 goals in a year where everyone expected him to produce
14:14
a lot more. And that's a fair point that everyone put far higher expectations than he produced, and yet he still produced up to standard as to where we thought with still all the offensive threats on this roster
14:29
But with not even looking at Dyson, you still have Will Johansson, who had that rough injury last year, finally being able to play this year, and he really solidified himself as a solid, solid transition guy that Albany can rely on going into next season
14:45
Like, you're going to look at him and say, you're going to go out there in big minutes, because he proved in big minutes
14:52
On top of that, Zach Mason. I mean getting his first year under his his first full year under his belt he really locked in on defense I thought and the time that he was out there playing I thought he really produced well
15:05
I thought he was very, he was an anchor when we needed it
15:11
I thought I really liked how Zach played this whole year. And then Carson Moyer, Pesco and Raposo
15:20
the other rookies Raposo didn't get a whole lot of playing time, But let's look at Paschko and let's look at Moyer
15:26
I mean, Moyer only got four games with Albany, but he still produced in each of those games
15:33
So maybe it's a thing for next season where he's going to make an argument for the lineup each night like John Piateli did for this entire season
15:43
Yeah, I'll add to that. Alex Simmons, almost the same exact stat line as last year
15:50
So no sophomore slump there. Yeah. Ty Kurtz nearly matched his rookie numbers as well
15:58
So you had two guys who were in the rookie of the year conversation last year who did not have the sophomore slump
16:07
So that's that's promising for the team. And, you know, you look at like obviously these big guys, you're going to look at Ethan, you're going to look at Ty, you're going to look at Dyson, you're going to look at Alex
16:18
but someone who I thought really held his own this entire season
16:23
and someone who kind of went under the radar was Sam Firth
16:29
I mean, he produced with 15 goals and 33 points in the games that he played
16:37
but his role was that high-energy guy, and he got those goals in moments that Auburn needed them
16:44
that gave him that energy to win games. so he's another one
16:51
He's kind of like that, that, um, that Nathan Grennan and Carson Moyer to, um
16:59
Clarkie's exact words. They view Carson Moyer like a Samford. Absolutely. Absolutely
17:09
Now my question also now is what did Clarkie have to say season's end once the game was done
17:13
I haven't had the chance to You know speak to the guys
17:21
After the loss But I feel like the first thing is Heads high you know
17:29
After the start that we had And the way they battled back I feel like the first word
17:33
Is heads high keep your heads High keep your spirits High because a lot of teams
17:39
Wouldn't be in the same scenario that we were because a lot of teams would have just given up at that halfway mark
17:46
At the moment that they're 2-8, a lot of these teams would have said, okay, we're done, let's rebuild, let's post everything to next season
17:53
and let's get ready for next season. But Albany said, no, we're still going to fight
17:59
We're still going to keep going. And they did. They went, like you said, Gary, to the very last game
18:08
Absolutely. And like I say, I would call that a victory, especially for what was going through most of the season
18:15
So I don't see anything but upside. I don't think there's a post-mortem in there
18:20
I think there's things to build on, of course. Another thing that I'm really excited to build on is a full year of Kyle Jackson in Albany
18:31
because he came in halfway through the season and he was scoring every night
18:39
He was on the board every night and he made himself known every night
18:43
Now, finally getting a full year in Albany, getting a full year under his belt, coming into next season as, again, one of those veterans
18:50
That's going to be very exciting to see, especially with what they do in the offseason to bring in pieces
18:56
or what they do to what moves they make. Because I feel like after the short sample size that Kyle Jackson had, how can you not have him on your plans for next season
19:07
Right. Right. Let's talk a bit about this game, because there's a lot of good stuff going on
19:13
But I think they just ran out of gas. Honestly, I just look like they ran out of gas by the fourth
19:18
They were they were having a tough time. And, you know, veteran teams find ways to win when it comes down to it
19:26
And, you know, we've come down on San Diego most of the year for being this aged group that is injury prone and that
19:35
But most of their guys are healthy now and they got healthy at the right time
19:41
And veterans find ways and don't get shocked or shimmied by anything that goes on
19:47
And this was a perfect example as the game went along that they just stayed the course
19:52
And, of course, who's going to get that game winning goal? West Burke. Yeah
19:56
Mr. Clutch for them. You know, and you mentioned that fourth quarter is when San Diego came to life
20:04
but, I mean, I focused off shift that third quarter where Albany was held scoreless
20:11
And, like, that's tough because losing a one-goal game like that, which is another one-goal game loss for them, that's terrible
20:19
And that's something that I think they're going to really look to focus on in the offseason
20:23
is getting past these one-goal losses. But, I mean, that's all luck coming down to it
20:28
But someone that you can't put blame on is Doug Jamison. I mean, he made 50 saves on 61 shots
20:36
He was getting peppered in there in what felt like – I mean, it was
20:40
It was San Diego's huge last push, so they had to put everything into it
20:44
They peppered Dougie. 61 shots, he made 50 saves. He had an 82-save percentage on the dot, flat
20:54
Huge. That's amazing. And he's another reason why Albany found such success back on that latter half of the season that he finally found his game
21:05
Right. See, where I think that Albany would have had the advantage, but for a veteran coming back, face-offs
21:14
You know, we would be talking about Joe Nardella, you know, just mopping the floor with the San Diego squad
21:20
which probably would get him another 10 possessions. and probably even if they didn't score, would probably keep it away from San Diego
21:26
So they didn't score. But having Baptiste back in the lineup and him winning 14 of 24 plays a big role
21:37
You know, that is something that I actually looked at last week in their game at home against San Diego
21:46
Trevor Baptiste outplayed him on the faceoff doc completely. He went 15 for 25
21:51
in the face-offs. Well, Joe Nardella went nine for 23 while they gave Mike Byrne two opportunities
21:58
and he went one for two. So two weeks in a row, Joe is kind of significantly handled
22:05
in the face-off dot, which is something that you do not see normally
22:10
Because normally it's him winning 20 face-offs a game, like you said, giving Albany those extra couple possessions
22:15
that they need that would potentially push them over the hump. Right
22:19
now another thing to look at is how valuable has a healthy Will Johansson been as a vacuum cleaner I cleaner I mean like I said at the start talking about the rookies
22:36
how could you not mention Will and look at him as a future of this transition
22:41
and this defense? You mentioned he's a vacuum cleaner. 146 loose balls, putting him second on the team to Joe Nardella
22:50
And that's only by 10. Eight, sorry, eight. That's only by eight loose balls
22:56
So, I mean, he's just going to get better and better and better as time goes on
23:03
Absolutely. Absolutely. Again, just to show what we see in this game is what we've seen down the stretch of the season with Albany
23:12
is that they're coming alive and just slightly missing, and that's just growth
23:20
No, 100%. And, you know, at the start of the season and when we were in that 2-8 spell, I mean, I coined the phrase second half of Horrors
23:32
Albany was having the worst times finding goals in the second half
23:37
They were producing everything in the first half, in the first two quarters, and then were just scoring two or three goals to end the game, which is something they could not do
23:44
And they picked it up. I mean, they got a lot of goals. They found a lot more offense
23:48
Obviously, Kyle Jackson being a huge part of that offense in those later half of the games
23:56
But they kind of found their way out of that second half of Horrors in a way
24:03
But they still found struggling on scoring. I mean, scoring 10 goals, you're not going to win scoring 10 goals
24:12
No. No, not against a team like San Diego especially. No. I was just going to say, just give a little bit of credit on the other side too
24:19
I mean, Chris Origliari, he had a bad start to that game
24:23
but he did lock it down too in that second half. I mean, Albany did give him some good looks
24:30
and he made some good saves in that second half. Yeah. I mean, you mentioned Origliari
24:37
I had his stats up right here. He made 37 for 47
24:45
So, I mean, 10 on a low night for Albany because, you know, they're usually finding 50 to 60 shots a night
24:53
So for not only him to make those huge, only letting in 10 goals against a high offensive, high threat team
25:02
but for San Diego's defense to completely shut Albany down offensively almost, it felt like, you know
25:09
again 47 shots i feel like it's a very good omen for them going into the playoffs especially after
25:17
the rough start they had for the season with all the injuries and and the no consistency
25:24
they really found themselves uh in that latter half of the season
25:28
yeah yeah well we're gonna see because uh i say i think the future is bright
25:35
for what's there in Albany. We talked about it last year about the youth
25:40
and we were curious to see what would happen. And now we're not going to be talking about youth
25:44
We're going to be talking about seasoned, not grizzled veterans, but seasoned players
25:50
And now they've experienced both sides of the coin. Now it's up to them for how they react out of it
25:56
And with leadership like Clarkie and a few others there, I think that they're in good hands to keep everybody pretty level-headed
26:05
Yeah, no, I agree. And like you mentioned, it's not going to be any more rookies because the team is now kind of in that win now, win now mode that let's try to win that cup
26:18
So it's going to be a lot less looking at the rookies and now looking at, all right, Alex is going into his third year
26:24
Now we got to start relying on him as more of a leader. This is Dyson going into his sophomore year
26:29
Same with a lot of these other rookies. And it's just how can we continue to build on the NLL finals appearance
26:37
And while, yes, coming short of the coming one game short of the playoffs isn't like the best season after
26:44
But like you said, Gary, you said it multiple times after the start they had. This is only a win
26:50
yeah you know i'm i'm you know i'm tired of listening to people and everybody doom and gloom
26:58
talk about every every team that didn't make it there's got to be an upside and i think it's about
27:03
time we start focusing on the positives the teams had we talked last week with elijah gash about the
27:10
positives in toronto that we had a chance to watch nathan grenin with this team we had a chance to
27:16
watch holichuk in net we had a chance to watch um yeah jake darlison and how he's taken to it
27:24
zach kearney as a regular role elijah gash as he's developing into a uh into a transition and
27:30
strong defender with the team as well as a number of others josh dalwick coming to uh you know 40
27:35
42 goal season you know who would have picked that out a year ago but uh you know there's a lot of
27:42
things, you know, of development that we got to see, even though the cup isn't being hoisted in your particular city
27:48
Yeah. So that you can see it maybe in a couple of years from now, because when I was talking with Jamie Dalek last night before the game and
27:57
you know, there's a lot of players that are going to be available as there will
28:02
be every year, especially with one less team. Until the league puts in a couple more expansion teams where it starts to dry
28:08
up all the excess, there are a lot of really talented players
28:12
all over the place and when season's up free agency kaboom um all of a sudden you take a look
28:21
at a team that may uh need two or three pieces well they're going to be available easily
28:26
so a team that's sitting here may be here that quick yeah um and gary i want to look at
28:36
chobrano specifically because you know you look at a team that started 0-5 and you're like what
28:41
of the upsides. I mean, the huge upside is you guys have the first three picks. So, I mean
28:47
if there's any upside for you guys, it's one, two, three. Now you don't
28:51
have to worry about, oh, what are we going to do at one? Oh, no, what are we going to do at two? Now we only have one
28:55
Oh, wait, now we have the top three. All right, we're good. We can actually say the top four
29:01
because everybody forgets that Sam English was picked last year first round
29:05
and because of NCAA eligibility, he didn't play this year. So you have a first round
29:11
pick that you didn't use this year, plus three. So four first-round picks, plus Mark Matthews is healthy now
29:20
and something that he should have had shoulder surgery before the season
29:24
let alone game four. Plus Tom Schreiber will be healthy. TD Erland just came back last night
29:34
So all the injury bug problems looked at, hopefully that's somebody else's headache next year
29:41
Because we had ours enough the last four seasons. And on top of that, you know, I mean, I spoke a lot about him at the start of the season
29:49
I mean, now you're going to have a full year of Nathan Grennan. So that's going to be even huge
29:54
I mean, I'm a huge Nathan Grennan fan. So just having fun. You did as much last night if you weren't a fan
30:00
This guy's a spark plug, and every one of these things is a David and Goliath scenario
30:05
Because who's he taking on? He's not taking on the small guys. He's taking on the Tyler Biles. He's taking on the Mac Gill race
30:10
He's taking on the guys who are 6'3", 6'4". He's 5'8". Yeah. 5'8", $1.60
30:17
And, yeah, I guess he doesn't realize he's 5'8", $1.60. But, you know, he's got just as much fight in him or more than a lot of them
30:26
Yeah. And he's a spark plug as a scorer, too. Because what Dalek's doing on the one side, he's doing on the other side
30:33
So you've got the same energy on both sides. How about throw a Sam English and a CJ Kirst into the mix there
30:41
and see what happens. Throw a Mark Matthews in there as a quarterback. Throw a Tom Schreiber in there to be able to do just about anything
30:49
That's not even talking about Dan Craig. That's not talking about Corey Small
30:56
That's not talking about a few of the others. Cameron. We watched him last time, Brian Cameron, back after his injuries
31:05
And with an absolute howitzer from the outside, probably just about through the net
31:12
But there's so many different pieces that you're almost sitting there going
31:17
gosh, I wish Gary's idea of the ALL farm team would come to fruition
31:22
so we can keep a bunch of these guys and not have to set them free
31:26
Yeah. but uh yeah there's there's plenty of upside all over the place and um you know the the best is yet
31:35
to come so yeah yeah it's painful at the moment but uh that shall pass now you get to have the
31:43
fun of trying to make you know be your own gm and move your pieces around see what fits for you and
31:50
see how close you are to what they're thinking uh i think my favorite part about it is also not
31:56
having a dog in the fight, so I get to sit back and watch all the madness unfold without having
32:00
to worry. Oh, uh-oh, is Auburn going to be facing Buffalo? Oh, no, is Auburn going to be facing a tough
32:06
team in a three-round matchup? So it's going to come down to, I'm just
32:10
going to sit back, relax, and watch the chaos unfold. Absolutely. Absolutely
32:17
Caden, appreciate it, man. Thank you very much. As always, I know you've got to run, and
32:22
happy Easter. Happy Easter, fellas. Last thing I will say, as you can see
32:26
the bottom of my tag. Let's go Nighthawks. They're my dark horse
32:30
I am picking Rochester to win it all this season. I'm hoping for that too because when I get
32:36
back from Prague, that gives me somewhere to go. They got a tall order to start
32:44
They do, but if anybody's going to knock Del Vion go off his perch, that's
32:50
probably going to be the game. Oh yeah. Absolutely. And you know, I might even be able to watch
32:56
that because with the time change, I might be right in the wheelhouse, having breakfast and washing again
33:04
All right. I will be seeing you in two weeks, but I will have something to do with next
33:10
week's show. Don't forget, everybody, next week's show will still be on as normal
33:14
even though I'm in Prague, at 8 p.m. Eastern. You're on all the StreamFunk Entertainment networks
33:20
Gaten, as always, happy Easter. Thank you very much. Great season. and we will be talking with you next week
33:27
Happy Easter, fellas, and have a good rest of the night and good rest of your day. You too
33:32
Happy Easter, Caden. That was Caden with the final Wolves' Den for the season
33:40
But, you know, I like what that team is in the process of becoming
33:45
Yeah. And I think this was just a really character-building kind of season
33:50
You can't just have everything handed. The first year, things, though they had a little bit of adversity
33:55
everything kind of just fell into place. And then the only adversity they saw was the Buffalo games in Banditland
34:02
in the second game. The first game was pretty tight. But, you know, you've got to have some of these to, you know
34:08
build and character build together so that it means not much more when you do
34:13
finally achieve. And Eduardo is with us, of course, in the Easter egg hunt over in St
34:20
Augustine, Florida. We're catching you. Our temperatures are coming up. I don't need mittens anymore
34:30
Tell me, I'll go, we trust. Yes. Yeah. Well, that's definitely true, but you've got to get by Rochester now
34:41
So I agree with you, Sean. I think that is the game of the week next week
34:46
But why don't we get back to a couple of these other ditties of games
34:52
And, well, you know, we can start with Friday. We could. You know, and, of course, Halifax and Toronto, they battled it out in what was
35:03
actually a little bit more interesting game than I thought it might be. Because originally I thought that this was going to be just ugly
35:12
But I always have reservations because whenever these two teams meet, something happens
35:19
And, you know, it's kind of like the Leafs in Montreal. It doesn't seem to matter where their understandings, they play each other dirty, tough, and all the other things
35:28
And we got all of that, right? But the Thunderbirds took advantage of all the opportunities that they were getting early
35:36
And they got out to a 4-0 first quarter lead. In fact, Toronto didn't get their first goal until one half of a second left in the first quarter when Corey Small put the rock on the board
35:48
so when you're down for one in a game that is a well you know nothing game for
35:54
you other than playing spoiler to a home game for for Halifax motivation you
36:02
know but Chris Bushy all of a sudden put it under there you get three goals into
36:07
the in the second quarter and Josh Doek you got a couple of goals in that
36:13
quarter to Josh Dalek you know who would have thought that we're going to talk about his 40
36:19
goal season that kid's gonna be a star he is and you know the the maturity way above the years that
36:28
he is watching him on the floor now if you if you if you look at the NLL broadcast from last night
36:36
you'll see that I am in the corner which is uh just to the left of the goalie uh just to the
36:41
right of the goalie, sorry, and so I'm able to be on Dalwick's side, and just to watch what he does
36:47
off ball, as much as on ball, and getting himself in position, and always keeping his feet moving
36:54
and always having other things, all the things that are preached from the time you are little
36:58
all the way up, and he does it, and the best part is he does it with a smile
37:06
you know one of the most personable kids I've ever known men I've known him since
37:12
he was I think 10 you know and however we've we've had a good good friendship
37:18
over the years and I love it I love watching this that I told him yesterday
37:22
I was so proud of him for the year that he had but just for the career that he etching out for himself you one thing to have the Dalek name But now when we talking about him first and Jamie second that interesting
37:41
And I credit the World Championships for this. And everybody thought, well, why would he go play for Austria
37:47
Well, for one, there isn't a spot on Canada to play. You know, the lineup forms to the right
37:52
which goes about 19 blocks for guys who want to play there. But playing there, he actually led the Worlds in scoring
38:02
Well, he was the go-to guy for the team, right? What a great way to practice
38:07
And take that confidence and roll with it into the season. And sure enough, right away, you saw that him and Schreiber
38:15
had a chemistry in preseason. from that point on, Shriver was hurt, didn't stop Dalek
38:24
He was still able to pick his corners. His shot got a lot more confident
38:31
which meant it became a much harder shot as well. And it was a much more cerebral shot, I guess
38:41
but it was a hidden shot too. A lot of screens behind the back things, a lot more
38:46
word I'm looking for Mike there was more tools in the toolbox
38:55
more variants to his shots it wasn't just off to the side shoot from outside you know the things I love so much
39:02
but he would dive across the crease he would come from behind the net
39:06
he would do all these other things to keep defenses guessing it's only a second year in the league
39:13
I'd say that's pretty good yeah I didn't want to mix that word up with your other favorite word of the season inconclusive
39:21
I love inconclusive the dreaded I word inconclusive you can swear at me and go you're inconclusive
39:29
I just but you know Toronto even fought their way back in this game
39:38
and they tied it 8-8 near the end of the third quarter
39:46
And Cody Jameson got one with 25 seconds after it tied. So just at the end of the third quarter, make it 9-8
39:54
And it looked like, holy smokes, this actually could be the upset of the week
40:00
I give you the fourth quarter. When a team wants to win and is good in the playoffs
40:07
they should be doing things like this. Well, they put it into fifth, maybe even sixth gear
40:12
And they outscored Toronto 7-1 in that quarter. Now, Dawson Thede had a great game
40:21
He was banging. He was scoring. But he had just a fantastic game
40:29
Randy Stotts had another monster game. Mike Robinson also making a name for himself now
40:37
Big-time games from big-time players. And that's what Halifax needs is everybody
40:42
Even Bull Hunter I noticed on the floor. He wasn't just there taking the one shot he has
40:50
So somehow occurs he has gotten through to everybody that this is what needs to happen
40:55
And it didn't matter if Toronto wanted to play rough. They were able to play it rough. Difference was that they didn't take penalties
41:00
Toronto was a parade in the penalty box. Some of it very questionable in my eyes
41:07
I am really, really tired of the call a five-minute penalty. We'll review it, and then we'll reduce
41:14
This is getting very old. Either call a penalty you see or don't call a penalty you don't see
41:20
But stop calling these five-minute things, putting four minutes of review, so then you can reduce it or say it's not a penalty
41:27
Because there was enough diving out on that floor that Halifax was doing
41:32
especially, to draw Academy Award nominations. I think it's got to go further than that because it has to do with the rule book, right
41:41
And the fact that you get so many major penalties and you have suspension or a game misconduct or whatever it is
41:45
I can't recall off the top of my head. Maybe that's got to go away because that's why they're reviewing this is because there's implications if a player has a major penalty
41:56
Maybe that's just got to go away. I don't know any other league that does that
42:00
I'm watching Chex that are shoulder to the chest. and Buddy's throwing his head up and falling down like he was shot
42:07
you're calling a five, you're reviewing it for four minutes, stopping the momentum of the game, and then you're saying
42:14
oh, there wasn't a penalty. Well, duh. If you're watching, you would have seen that
42:19
That's why I said I take it a step further is because they have to do that because there's implications if you give a five-minute penalty
42:24
which is ridiculous. But I'm going a little bit further than that, Sean
42:28
I'm saying that the guy who dove, never mind make it even with the other guy
42:33
he penalizes his own team now for delay a game. Yeah. Never mind equalizing
42:39
You go. You dove. You go. Because we always seem to go
42:43
well, we're going to give you the illegal body check, and we're going to give you the embellishment chart
42:49
No. Let's stop this altogether and just embellishment. Never mind. Okay, you're off
42:54
You go. Want to see how quickly diving comes out of this game
42:59
I give it three weeks. Gone. make it one major game that costs them a game that maybe they don't go to the
43:07
playoffs because of it gone enough's enough. You know, I put up those retro games on YouTube so you can see what it looks like
43:16
before we started getting effeminate or whatever you want to call it
43:20
Before they had rules. Well, you know, it was wild west, but, you know
43:24
things that will be changed in possessions of five game suspension now. Yeah. I was going to say that's sarcastic a bit, right
43:30
But, you know, I, but they played. There was, there was flow
43:37
There's no flow when you're calling a penalty every three minutes. Or calling a five minute one and then spending four minutes after that
43:44
reviewing it to make it a two minute. Or saying there wasn't a penalty
43:50
Occasionally calling it a five. I, I, I, and then I found it even funnier that the, the
43:57
I was sitting behind the penalty box in Toronto. And the screen wasn't working
44:01
So they're actually looking up at the scoreboard, watching what we're watching. If you didn't see it before, you think you're going to see it on that
44:09
Non-HD? Yeah. Okay. Yeah, no, I'm right with you, Gary, because I remember I think it was last year at Rush Game
44:15
and I think there was 24 penalties. It's almost like every second there's penalty, penalty, penalty
44:22
Like you said, even teams and players, how can you get any rhythm
44:27
or any momentum. When all of a sudden you score a goal
44:31
okay, you think you got the momentum, oh, bite, whistle, penalty. Now, there was a Goa Abrams sighting in this game at the end
44:39
But, you know, I can't blame Holichuk. And here's why. He was hung out to dry
44:46
He faced 68 shots in this game. 68. Of those 68, he made 52 saves
44:54
Not a bad evening work and they weren easy saves Well things happen Face battle Erland wasn playing in this one
45:06
And, of course, Withers went to town. And he won 25 of 28 face-offs
45:12
Or should I say Halifax because Withers spends a good bunch of time in the box
45:16
because he seemed to want to scrap it out with anybody and everybody
45:20
And the ones who did want to scrap it out with him, for some reason, they never got together
45:24
Ostrouser, cash. Loose ball battle. This one is mind-blowing. Has Halifax had 100 loose balls in this game to Toronto's 52
45:40
Are you winning games without getting loose balls? No. Without base-offs, giving up 1,000 shots
45:47
No. These are the categories. is that the only thing that I can say is that Halifax went three for eight on
45:54
the power play. So the penalty kill wasn't too bad, but Toronto went over two on their two measly chances
46:01
Yeah. They did get a shorthand to go, but all in all a
46:06
a forgettable game for the, for the fan appreciation game. It just was kind of the cherry on the Sunday for the season that was
46:14
was going on. Yeah. You had a lot of younger guys in there and there were mistakes made
46:20
And there was assignments missed. And there was emotion in there and all kinds of little things in there
46:26
But I really, you know, I like Chris Williams and his crew. I really don't think this was their best game of the year that they had as a
46:34
ruffering crew. Just putting that out there. But they weren't the reason why this game got lopsided
46:42
But even though it was 8-8 coming down to the end of the third, if you're going to give up seven in the fourth, you're not winning many games
46:53
I don't think you're winning any games, to tell you the truth. So that was the game that went
47:00
And then less than 24 hours later, off to go to Rochester
47:04
And I don't know where the teams shifted and changed buses, but they did
47:10
because the team that came out in Rochester, and again, there's no love lost between these teams
47:19
And they had a chance to really put a fork into the Nighthawks' home game plan
47:26
And it was funny because, you know, you could feel it right from the, even from the warm-ups, that something was different about the team
47:31
while Erland was playing. That's the only change, though. But, you know, this thing was back and forth
47:39
Now what's the best way to stop all that? Well, the Road the Nighthawks scored 17 seconds in Connor fields got a goal 17 seconds into the game
47:47
That's uh stops, uh, you know all the energy, right? Isn't that Mike Tyson says that everybody's got a plan until I get a punch in the face
47:54
Yeah, there was your punch in the face But Elijah Gass comes right back and well we thought he had a had a goal upon a coach's challenge
48:06
It deemed he had a toenail in the crease, and it came back
48:11
However, on this coast-to-coast that he was doing, he was yanked down
48:17
And this was not a penalty. This became a penalty shot. Chalon Rogers took this penalty shot
48:23
and he deked Rylan Hartley out of his shorts and got the goal
48:29
And we were tied. Chris Boushey. He was after Friday night's game
48:36
He was three away from 40 himself. He got the first one of his goals of the night to give the Rock the lead just after that
48:46
Graydon Hogg, who had a great game for Rochester. And what a rookie season he's had
48:52
And I have his press conference up also on our page. he quick-sticked a Ryan Smith pass from the side of the net and it was just you
49:03
know poetry just just perfect and you know a holo check was quick to the side
49:10
too so it had to be perfect to go in and it did but Toronto came right back in
49:15
Bushi the patented dive from behind the net Dawak to Bushi dive score and there
49:24
it was. On the power play, Boushey converted Latrell Harris pass from in front with 26 seconds
49:32
left in the quarter, making it 4-2 Toronto. That was Boushey's 40th of the season
49:39
We head into the second, and the Rock got things going quickly in a second. Jalen Rogers blasted
49:44
absolutely blasted a high to low shot from Josh Dalwick. 41 seconds in, 5-2. Nighthawks answer
49:53
Ryan Smith on a power play from beside the net. Then Thomas McComfy finishes a Ryan Smith pass from in front
50:01
and we're down just to a 5-4 game. Latrell Harris answers in transition from the top of the crease
50:08
midway through the quarter. Tutton, Chad Tutton, there's a name we don't say very often anymore
50:16
He answers for the Nighthawks in transition off a Taylor Jensen pass
50:20
but Josh Dalwik comes back with a two goal lead again for Toronto near the end of the quarter so
50:29
it ends 7-5 at the half for Toronto. The Rock make it 8-5 early when Josh Dalwik scores yet again
50:36
converting a Zach Kearney pass in transition just 50 seconds into the quarter
50:43
Nighthawks come back though. Thomas McConvey scores with just an absolute outside laser
50:47
off of Ryan Lansbury pass. Ryan Smith then gets one, converting a Kyle Waters pass at the top of the crease
50:56
followed by Matt Gilray going coast to coast. Now, we talked about 19 loose balls in this game
51:01
but he was on fire and just a gorgeous goal. And this tied the game up
51:10
Kind of gives you similar to the night before, right? Near the end of the third quarter, and it's 8-8
51:17
and trying to regain the lead with just a minute 55 left in the quarter
51:24
with Alan Rogers finding another high to low shot from not quite outside
51:29
It was just between the circle and the restraining line. And just a beautiful shot of a Chris Boushey pass, and it's 9-8
51:39
So it's looking a lot like the night before only the teams have changed. Expecting the seven goal fourth
51:47
Alan Rogers does exactly the same. I almost thought I was watching a replay, except it was live
51:56
Another high to low shot from the same spot, a minute 29 in. And, you know, Toronto gives up 10-8
52:04
However, as younger players will do, Troy Holuchuk with a terrible clearing pass
52:12
so much so that Connor Fields knocks it down, picks it up, intercepts it
52:16
scores, boom. whoops and you can almost feel the air go right but over a night hog land only a goal difference 10 and you still have 13 minutes left in the game So you thinking this is where
52:36
Brian Cameron. There's a name we haven't talked about much this year since he got hurt
52:42
after the opening part of the season. Well, he's better. And, wow, what an absolute howitzer he fired into the top corner
52:52
from the outside off a Chris Bouchie pass. But, you know, this went on for most of the Barry
53:02
We're at 11-9. Goalie pulled. Ryan Lashbury gets in eight Hawks within one
53:11
Still two and a half minutes left in the game. Rochester threw everything at Toronto, at Holochuck
53:19
and if anybody doubts that Holochuk is a bona fide NLL goalie
53:25
well, don't know more. He single-handedly made four or five saves in that thing
53:33
some difficult, some not as difficult, but it was a frantic couple of minutes nonetheless
53:39
But Toronto comes away with an 11-10 victory. Shots on goal. Once again, a peppering evening
53:47
Rochester outshoots Toronto 65-52. Erland's back. Toronto wins a face-off battle against Slosser
53:55
Erland, 16-24. The loose ball battle, a little bit better tonight from last night
54:05
went to Rochester 77-76. It was a tough game. Toronto went 4-5 on the power play in this game
54:16
They made Rochester pay every time they did something stupid. Rochester went one for two
54:25
You take your pick. Tale of two games, though. I thought Rochester passed a lot better in the first half
54:29
but they played more of a in-your-face tough game in the second half
54:35
They went back to what was winning them games the last six or nine of 12
54:41
And, well, just by a goal. So, as they kept saying in the post-game press conferences
54:48
well, if we're going to have that kind of a stinker of a game, let's have it in the last game of the season just to get that taste back in our
54:54
mouth of why we don't want to do that next week when we're playing in the playoffs
54:59
One and done. Right? So, right. Upsides. I think Rochester is one of the most well-rounded teams in the league
55:12
They can play physical with you. They can play it transitionally with you
55:17
They can play it with heavy goal scoring with Connor Fields, Kyle Waters
55:22
Ryan Smith, Thomas McConvey. You're looking at this. Now that Tutton's back in the transition, make sure you have Medeiros with him
55:31
Gilray, you have quite a bit of that. And you have Ryland Hartley, who is doing the acrobatics at the other end
55:40
and can just as easily fire a transition pass up the floor as Del Bianco can the other way
55:48
It's going to be a very interesting matchup. And I think it's going to come down to discipline
55:54
Whoever stays out of the box more and doesn't do stupid things
56:00
Remember, play stupid games, win stupid prizes, right? Stupid prizes is watching next week on your TV
56:07
yep so uh as for toronto we've talked about it already a lot of upside we didn't even talk about
56:15
brian cameron when we're talking about all the other pieces so um there's almost too many pieces
56:20
already so it's gonna be interesting off season i wonder if dan craig goes back because he's been
56:24
a non-factor most of this year it's been a pretty uh pretty big factor uh the last number of years
56:31
the Iceman has become the iceberg. So does he come back? And do they really go outlandish
56:41
And this is just a thought, so I don't need cards, letters, or comments
56:45
of trading Tom Schreiber and getting as many first-round picks for that 2026 draft
56:53
which is supposed to be the bukuun of drafts from years and for years
56:58
is a time because people are already starting to talk and the injuries are piling up and now he's
57:06
got a young family does he want to do year-round with pll and nll so maybe it's time to uh get
57:16
the maximum you can for him let him go do his thing somewhere if he comes back great if not
57:23
you know they were able to do that with karen mccardell and got away with it because as soon as he went there a couple of years, he was only doing field, job and family
57:32
Funny how that works. I don't think it's all that crazy. We heard the rumors even at this trade deadline of possibly moving Tom
57:38
So I don't think it's all that crazy. And he's not one of those unrestricted free agents
57:44
You can actually keep him under contract for a couple of years. So it's a lot of upside there
57:49
And if we can scoop a couple of first-round picks for him, and maybe somebody that will fill a void in one of the other spots
57:57
because I don't think offense is an issue. So just a thought out there because, remember
58:05
there's going to be a pile of players again, even more, because you have all the draft cards in there to go with it
58:12
So it's going to be pretty wild. It's going to be a free-for-all. Again, we're going to be sitting there in September going, what the hell
58:20
So we're going to be sitting there in August going, what the heck, because of all the free agent movement once again
58:27
But we'll see. But that's it in a nutshell for them guys
58:35
Why don't we move ourselves on over to one of the games that was the
58:41
head scratchers. Let's go to the Buffalo-Georgia game, shall we? Interesting game there
58:47
I can't figure out Georgia can anybody else if I came to the playoff picture this screwed up everything
58:57
as far as I was concerned it turned everything on its head yeah I just can't
59:02
figure it out anymore I figure that this is one that even with resting players
59:08
that Buffalo is not going to rest that many and you know
59:12
it looked like Buffalo was going to come away with this victory. And all of a sudden, they didn't
59:23
Any answers, guys? Lyle Thompson effect. Need a big game? He's your guy
59:34
My NLL page isn't working very well right now. But, again, do we worry about Buffalo
59:47
Mike? Hearing. Do we worry about Buffalo? Because this is another one of those games where I could have
59:53
should have, didn't. And it's been the MO of their second half of the season
1:00:00
I mean, I think so. I mean, they started 7-0, and then they went 6-5 the rest of the way
1:00:05
Okay. With three home losses, one of them to San Diego
1:00:15
who they will be playing in the quarterfinals. Mm-hmm. And it's a healthier San Diego now than it was when they had their home-and-home
1:00:27
Mm-hmm. and the other I mean one of them right so
1:00:36
yeah and I mean they nearly pulled it off twice so and the one they won
1:00:45
was in bandit land and that was without these guys yep so yeah there's definitely
1:00:53
some concern there you know, I think they would need to be concerned
1:01:02
I mean, I think they need to be concerned that they're coming in with momentum, too, off this win overall
1:01:12
I'm wondering, is Matt Finns tired now, do you think? Phase 49 shots again
1:01:17
um like i i you know that's i know he likes to work and i know he likes to keep busy
1:01:25
but if by some fluke some shot catches him the wrong way i don't think buffalo fares that well
1:01:33
but things this is becoming a bit of a grind for you know his age just in general
1:01:40
I'm looking at it also that your scorers are doing a lot of assisting. They're not doing a lot of scoring
1:01:55
Byrne got seven assists in this game. One goal. Smith, four assists in this game. Two goals
1:02:02
When Dane Smith doesn't have ten assists, Buffalo doesn't seem to win. Interesting
1:02:10
transitionally, Steve Priolo. That's all. I'm not convinced
1:02:23
I had the feeling before they got onto this 12 games in 10 weeks
1:02:29
But since then, I've found them to be, yes, they're dangerous. Of course, they're two-time champs
1:02:34
but I'm not as petrified about them in a game as I am, say, a Vancouver or a Rochester
1:02:43
more Rochester than Vancouver, honestly. Yeah, I mean, I – but do they – if you're Buffalo
1:02:57
how much do you really need to worry about transition with San Diego
1:03:04
and let's take into consideration what they did to Halifax two weekends ago
1:03:11
where Halifax had I mean yeah okay the game was 12-12 and they pulled away at the end but
1:03:20
Halifax had next to zero transition of any kind in that game and you know we spent the middle
1:03:31
third of the season pretty much saying Ryan Tarifenko was a lot for transition player of the year
1:03:39
Right. When he went on that run. Sure. So, um, yeah, you know, they, they, they, they limited a
1:03:48
a good transition team to nothing in transition and they're going to be going up against the San
1:03:55
Diego team that, let's face it, out of all the teams in the playoffs
1:04:02
probably have the least threatening transition game. But they have a number of other things that make them dangerous
1:04:15
Oh, no, I don't doubt that. And I was just thinking San Diego doesn't want to get into a track meet
1:04:21
I like the area when he's hot can shut down a team like Buffalo
1:04:27
So it's going to be very interesting. I actually reckon this to last year's Georgia event
1:04:33
only if Georgia would have had Seth Oaks in the lineup because San Diego is going to be able to put their whole lineup in
1:04:41
So this is going to be another one that says, this could be the upset of the upsets, right
1:04:48
Then we would have a new champion. Wouldn't that be interesting? It could be
1:04:55
Not for nothing, that side of the bracket, you've got Buffalo and San Diego
1:05:01
and then you've got Vancouver and Rochester. Right, yeah. Whoever's winning is beating for a three-game series in the semifinals
1:05:12
Yeah, one of those teams, whoever makes it to the finals, is going to have to have gone through hell to get there
1:05:18
Pretty much. Yeah. They'll be beaten and battered. But that brings us to the other side
1:05:25
And Calgary had to pull off quite the coup to get where they were going to finish sixth overall
1:05:31
and wind up with Halifax in the playoffs. And, well, they found a way to do it
1:05:38
Well, of course, we expected them to beat Las Vegas. And I don't think that this game was ever really in doubt, was it
1:05:49
It might have gotten questionable near the end. They did pull within – Las Vegas did pull within 10-9 in the fourth quarter
1:06:02
But – Were you ever at that point where, man, this could happen
1:06:11
I guess I'd say no. Just, you know. That's my point. Yeah, you have a heavy veteran presence in Las Vegas
1:06:22
Las Vegas, they're still trying to figure things out. So, you know, at the very least, for Vegas in this game
1:06:34
at least you could see they were spreading the wealth, at least on their offense
1:06:42
Yeah, they're coming out of this thing. Yeah, you know, I mean, Adam Pachua had two goals, two assists
1:06:48
Casey Jackson, two goals and assists. Kyle Killen had a pair of goals
1:06:53
Jonathan Donville, a goal and three assists. You know, obviously he didn't have the year
1:06:59
Everyone kind of hoped or expected he would have, kind of being more of an assist guy
1:07:05
You know, he did finish in the top 20 in scoring, despite all that
1:07:09
So, you know, registered over 80 points on the year, I believe
1:07:15
Right. You know, holding to Tony go on three assists, Jack Hannah, three assists
1:07:20
That probably the one that that the stat that stands out to me is that he was held without a goal You know if he gets his usual maybe we are talking upset If he gets his usual hat trick or four goals that we know he capable of doing
1:07:41
Right. Also didn't help that Calgary went four for five on the power play
1:07:47
So, you know, in addition to Justin Inasio, big game, 18-24 on faceoffs, nine loose balls, cost turnover
1:08:03
Sure. And Nick Rose, you know, set on him. What they got him for
1:08:08
43 saves. He moves into second place all time in goalie saves
1:08:17
and maybe this is the difference you know on Calgary side we were just talking about
1:08:26
you know how Hannah and Donville didn't really produce for Vegas you didn't get much out of
1:08:33
Curtis Dixon and Dane Dobie didn't play but you still had Jesse King three goals seven assists
1:08:39
Hannah Cook had Hattrick and three assists Hayden Dixon two and two Braden Maia a goal and two assists
1:08:53
You're still getting production out of who is in the lineup. Were they saving themselves
1:08:59
for the next game? Were they saving themselves for the next game, do you think
1:09:09
Gave them just enough. I mean, it's entirely possible. Because, I mean
1:09:13
Doby played against Colorado. They activated Reese Cowles. They activated Tyler Pace for the Colorado game
1:09:21
I think so because that was. And even though they didn't start out particularly well, boy, oh, boy, come the second quarter in that game
1:09:30
Wow. Yeah. And that was the game because the game, you know, a win against Vegas didn't automatically get Calgary in
1:09:38
But a win against Colorado would have. so you know turning to that game
1:09:48
you know Curtis Dixon did did come to play you know against
1:09:55
Colorado four goals three assists again Hayden Dixon two and one Tanner Cook two and one
1:10:03
Dobie had had three assists you had Pace and Callies who had just been activated. Each had a goal
1:10:17
And Rose, again, standing tall, 48 saves in this one, and three for seven
1:10:24
on the power play. They're playing pretty efficiently when they have the man up, which, hey
1:10:35
there are some teams in the playoffs that are struggling on the power play right now. Yeah
1:10:40
So, and then Colorado, I mean, I mean, with all due respect to Colorado, you know, they've had kind of an up and down season
1:10:52
But Calgary shouldn't have had any business losing that game to Colorado, especially since, you know, again, no Elisabeth Williams, no Eli McLaughlin
1:11:04
Yeah, so there was no like pieces. Yeah. Yeah, you know, and all you can muster is three goals and an assist from Ryan Lee, a pair of goals from Thomas Vela
1:11:15
You have Will Malcolm, Tyson Gibson, Connor Robinson combined for three assists on the night
1:11:23
Right. See, that brings us to the other game, too, is the Philadelphia-Vancouver game
1:11:32
Did Vancouver pull the shoots at the half? Everything's going their way
1:11:36
They're up 10-3. They held Philadelphia without a goal in the second
1:11:42
And you almost – one goal in the second half. Granted, you only gave up two, but one goal in the second half
1:11:51
I would figure if you scored ten in the first, you could easily put another six or seven if you're feeling it
1:11:58
I don't see – it wouldn't make any sense to stop it
1:12:02
But what happened? Yeah, I mean... Philadelphia not known for defense either
1:12:09
After a while, they're just playing not to get injured. I think so
1:12:14
Which is frightening, too. They almost kind of go through the motions, but I mean, I don't get the sense that we're going to see that same kind of play next weekend
1:12:27
Because, like I said, this is... They're watching the weekend. This is the game, and I think you can tell with Vancouver
1:12:40
with what Kurt Miloski's done, getting everyone to buy into his philosophy
1:12:46
This is not just, hey, we made the playoffs. Let's celebrate. It's, hey, we made the playoffs
1:12:59
Hey, we haven't lost since we acquired Del Bianco. Hey, let me just ask you guys, who had the best home record this year in the NLL
1:13:11
Who do you think? Vancouver. So, anyone tuning in, you probably didn't know
1:13:21
Vancouver went 7-2 at home this year. Better than Buffalo. Better than Sask
1:13:27
Better than... better than San Diego. So even better. Attendance is going up
1:13:36
And the last thing I would add is how would you like to
1:13:44
break one of your own curses on a potential championship run? Vancouver has never won
1:13:51
a home playoff game. Not as the Ravens, not as a stealth
1:13:56
and this is going to be their first one as the Warriors. Interesting
1:14:04
So you want incentive. Yeah. I mean, I get that you have a hot Rochester team coming in
1:14:14
Well, not so hot because their winning streak got snapped. So who has the longest winning streak in the league right now
1:14:21
It's Vancouver. Yeah. So, to say there's a lot on the line for the Warriors next weekend with the home playoff game is beyond an understatement
1:14:42
Yeah, definitely. And watch out because if they win regardless of who wins that other the Buffalo Diego game first of all if San Diego pulls off the upset somehow some way that going to be a heck of a three series
1:15:05
Vancouver and San Diego. And again, Vancouver would have the home field advantage. And even if not, if Buffalo wins
1:15:14
yeah, you got to potentially go into Bandit Land twice, but you already went in there with Del Bianco
1:15:21
and don't want to harken back to 2019, but Christian DelBianco could be living rent-free to some extent
1:15:34
in the minds of Banditland with the way he's played over the last few years against them
1:15:48
Interesting. at least just one game, Sean. And this game really mattered nothing to anything, really
1:15:56
In the end of it, yeah. By the time it actually went to fruition, just a stay healthy game and keep reps
1:16:05
Yeah. We talked about teams in the playoffs that put the foot off the gas
1:16:11
Rush did the exact opposite. They kept the foot on the gas
1:16:16
and it was really Ottawa showed up for one quarter and that was pretty much it
1:16:23
and I mean the difference in that one quarter was I just kind of forgot
1:16:27
that Jeff Teet was on the floor for a bit Yeah fastest hat trick since 2002
1:16:34
Actually Grand Perra corrected that because actually Mike Triolo had one that was one second quicker Interesting
1:16:43
This year even funnier but yeah I mean Jeff Teat yeah with a natural hat trick
1:16:52
Stephens with a transition goal Jake Stephens with a transition goal is 4-0 Ottawa
1:16:58
Saskatchewan came back with Shanks, Manzan, Church make it 4-3 Connor Kiernan
1:17:06
with the goal in the second quarter this game went scoreless until 4 minutes and 39 seconds left
1:17:14
in the second quarter. Then we got that ensuing face-off. Jake Naso, who
1:17:21
he went, I'll just double check my numbers here, 17 for 27 on the face-off
1:17:27
by the way. One ensuing draw. Picked it up and sniped one home
1:17:34
And it was 5-4 Ottawa at the half. Then, yeah, someone must have told Ottawa
1:17:41
that Georgia won at half. Because Jake Boudreau and that's the thing with the
1:17:46
Saskatchewan team. In the end, Boudreau had two goals in transition. He also had, like I said
1:17:52
Neso scored. Holden Garland shot a howitzer on transition as part of an 11-goal
1:18:01
run by the rush between the third and fourth quarters. Robert Church
1:18:08
with the sock trick. Kind of what you expect from him. and
1:18:13
yeah and I mean we talk about Jeff Teaton how Ottawa goes and he goes he had that hat
1:18:20
trick and after that he had one assist the rest of the game like he was just completely
1:18:26
shut down as for this I mean we talk about Rochester and we talk
1:18:32
about Vancouver but I say what about Saskatchewan I mean I don't think they've lost two
1:18:38
in a row all season And technically they're tied for first. It's just that Buffalo had that tiebreaker on them
1:18:46
Sure. They're just as dangerous as any other team, I think. It's going to be interesting because I think so
1:18:54
And another thing, too, I mean, if anyone wants to question if Frank Ciliano is an elite goalie
1:19:00
he held another team to single digits. Yep. Yeah, and I mean, you know, I guess you could look at it as their reward is they get an inconsistent Georgia team that sure you don't know who's going to show up a week from now, but you know what's going to show up on your side
1:19:27
And you get them on home floor. And, you know, we were talking about the bracket, the fresh have the easy side of the bracket, so to speak
1:19:35
Yeah. So I made the bold prediction, I'll stick to it, that I think if they can get by Georgia
1:19:42
they have a very good chance of going to that final. I don't see a team beating them in a three-game series up to the final
1:19:53
Yeah, I agree with you. I think that they're a dangerous little squad there
1:19:58
But it's weird because there's just so many little factors. that's what one thing I hate about the one and done
1:20:10
Yeah. Is that it doesn't matter what you did all year. One and done
1:20:17
That's why I leave that caveat, right? As long as they can get round up by that first round
1:20:22
because anything can happen at a one and done. Yeah. Yeah. And Calgary is going to have a tough climb with having to go to Halifax
1:20:33
I think for that, that home game, that first ever home game. I think that's going to be, you know what I mean
1:20:40
Maybe for the vets, it's going to be nothing new. It's just another road game
1:20:43
But I mean, the atmosphere there, if you don't think the Thunderbirds are going to be charged up for that
1:20:52
And that's why I go back with the Georgia Saskatchewan. I mean, that was one probably the largest crowd I've seen in a while
1:20:57
Sasketel Center last night. And it's only going to grow, and that's going to be a hostile environment for Georgia to walk into
1:21:06
Yep. And if Halifax can pull that, you know, then you're avoiding Battle of the Prairies three-game series
1:21:15
Yeah. That'll get ugly quick. Yep. Well, let's have a look at what the playoffs look like this coming weekend
1:21:25
All right. Quarterfinals are Friday, Buffalo and San Diego. Everybody up in arms in Buffalo
1:21:34
Friday, 7.30, Buffalo. Saturday, in Halifax, over at the Scotiabank, Calgary visits Halifax in an all-Canadian matchup
1:21:49
Over in Saskatoon, later that same evening. They swarm lock up with the rush
1:21:59
And Rochester visits Vancouver at 10 o'clock Eastern on Saturday night as well
1:22:07
Boy, oh, boy, there's some great games there. There's not a dog amongst them
1:22:12
No. No. And even looking at potentially who's playing who after this thing, it's like, wow
1:22:25
Can you imagine Yeah some serious yeah yeah wouldn that be something for Nick Rose to get even
1:22:36
just a storyline he already broke the curse right right
1:22:46
wouldn't that be something to tell all his rock buddies they're all rooming in the same house still
1:22:53
I'm in the playoffs in year nine. I've got to go to the playoffs now
1:23:01
Bye, guys. The couch comfortable? Yeah. Don't forget to watch. Yeah, oh, yeah
1:23:14
Going to be interesting. Going to be a great week. I know that I will have the local pub turning on my NLL plus
1:23:22
which is international. We'll get a chance to see how good that works
1:23:29
I was the only one in the Rochester bar that was able to get my NLL plus to work
1:23:34
Because of course, if ESPN in the U S that doesn't go with them
1:23:38
right. I was able to really show off that thing and putting three games on at once
1:23:45
That thing does everything. Nice. So, yeah, I really liking that NLL plus thing
1:23:51
I think it's a great idea. It would be nicer as an app, but I've kind of made it that way anyways
1:23:57
I've got my screen page thing there I just have to click on anyway. So it works out very nice
1:24:02
So I think that's – of the ideas that the NLL has come up with over the last few years
1:24:06
I think this has been the golden one so far. But that's another thing, watching everything expand as we've been moving along with Brett Fruitt there
1:24:17
in the commissioner's office that, you know, I wouldn't say earth-shattering things
1:24:24
but significant movement subtly moving forward. Yeah, sorry, Gary, I was going to say, I guess, because I admit I was skeptical
1:24:35
and I'll help us go on because we did this before, right? And it was terrible
1:24:41
It was. They did it right. it's got to get your honor
1:24:45
and everything you need if you want highlights you got highlights if you want I like the condensed
1:24:50
game too because I'm getting the game in 20 minutes I think it's fantastic
1:24:56
especially when schedules don't allow me to sit for two and a half hours to watch a game right
1:25:03
where you get the gist of it and if you really need more you can watch
1:25:08
the game and it's there too so to me that's that's great let alone all the other things that come with it too so
1:25:16
um if you haven't gotten it and done with it do it it's free you can get it off nll.com
1:25:24
there's just no reason why you shouldn't have it you know to sit there and try and refresh your your nll scoring page which uh by the way can make
1:25:34
you go mental waiting for that score. I know there's another goal
1:25:42
I know there's another goal. Change. It's been on 354 for eight minutes now
1:25:49
Change. So to have this, it's great. Well, guys, it's a time to go catch a plane
1:26:01
It's time to go to Prague. It's time to watch the Rubezki tournament. time to see. I heard last night that Marshall King is playing in there. Excellent. Nice
1:26:11
Interesting. Interesting. I know Eric Turner's playing with the Alberta team also. So there's
1:26:16
a number of NLL guys. I know Brady Kiernan's with us. So there's a number of NLL guys going
1:26:24
to be there now that the season's over. If they were on the bubble, they're coming on
1:26:28
a plane now pretty cool so this should be great you can get on and the alish
1:26:36
rabesky a hm.com I believe or you can google the alish rabesky tournament and
1:26:42
you can catch the YouTube games live I believe stamper is the one doing them
1:26:47
again so you can catch all these games as they're happening in there all day
1:26:53
long you know last game is nine o'clock check time and they're like laxley you
1:27:01
know much shorter games so these games they go quickly and nine o'clock in the
1:27:09
morning so you get 12 hours of games in the day if it's if that's what you want
1:27:13
to do all day long where they're supposed to be really nice out there
1:27:16
also looking forward to that so as well as well as who's who of lacrosse out
1:27:23
But they're also going to be nice to meet up with the NBL commissioner
1:27:27
as well as the good stick company, Brian Whitmer, and talking to him
1:27:34
So it's going to be an interesting eight or nine days. So looking forward to having a bunch of stories for you guys next Sunday
1:27:42
Remember, next Sunday we are back here at 8 p.m. Eastern time
1:27:49
That's what, like noon Saskatchewan time shot? Yeah, something like that, you know
1:27:53
he doesn't have to wake up to roosters this time around. He woke up to roosters
1:27:57
Yeah. Roosters look at him, but wait, I got 15 more minutes. So we appreciate
1:28:04
I appreciate you getting up early. So yeah, it's going to be an interesting thing
1:28:11
The guys here will, we'll take the bulk of the show. I will be around on the other side of the earth
1:28:17
but I won't be around. It should be interesting. I hope their internet's better than my thing
1:28:25
Oh, there you go. There you go, Purple Rain. There you go
1:28:29
We got a bit of rubescue. You know, the Purple Rain share the same pub as us for sponsorship
1:28:38
So it's pretty cool. Excellent. In fact, last year we played each other
1:28:42
We beat them. But, yeah, it was a battle for the remaining pints
1:28:51
Sean, you'll be covering the PGLL? I'll try to keep up to it
1:28:55
I mean, there's a lot of leagues in the PGLL with all the other leagues I cover
1:29:00
but I do keep my eye definitely out on the PGLL. Obviously, being in Moose Jaw
1:29:07
I got the Junior B team with the Moose Jaw Mustangs in there. I try to keep up with the senior teams as well
1:29:12
especially with the President's Cup. So I'll try my best. I'll put it that way
1:29:17
And President's Cup, I am part of the committee, So I will definitely be there for that week over in August into the beginning of September
1:29:26
So it's going to be a busy week over in Brooklyn. They're getting turf, guys
1:29:31
No more cement. They had that big campaign last year to finally put some turf down, and they're getting turf
1:29:39
And the pictures I've seen, they're getting pretty good-looking turf. Excellent. So it'll be a nice, pristine look for TV
1:29:47
we're all about the showmanship but anyways I want to thank you all as always for following along with us week in and week out
1:30:00
in and day out with all the things that are going on in the lacrosse world
1:30:04
And now, of course, once this is getting full swing playoffs, we also have PLL starting up soon
1:30:11
We also have MSL and OSL starting up soon as well as WLA. So it's all going to be going full tilt boogie throughout the summer
1:30:19
If you thought we were busy in the winter, that's nothing. That's just getting warmed up for the 200 and something games that we're going to be covering through the summer
1:30:27
So we all have our cars warmed up. And away we go just a little jaunt over here and over there
1:30:34
It looked like one of those cartoons if you watch the map of what I do in the
1:30:41
summer. But hey, it's not work when you love it, right guys? Exactly
1:30:48
Keep saying that to ourselves. Anyways, we appreciate it. Thank you so much, as always, for being with us
1:30:58
Last words, guys. Sean, let's start with you. Oh, man, in playoff mode
1:31:04
I know you guys are kind of licking your wounds in Toronto and Albany, but, man, we're out here
1:31:10
We're gearing up for a big playoff run, and I'm really excited and looking forward to it
1:31:15
Absolutely. Mike, final words? Yeah, I think we have four great games, you know
1:31:22
two in particular on that one side of the bracket that's just going to be
1:31:27
brutal. But, but yeah, just, I looking forward to all four games and and seeing what happens See see where we get to who we get for the semifinals Right Me I in Burbesky mode
1:31:44
That tournament starts on Wednesday. We'll be there. We leave tonight. We'll be there tomorrow early afternoon
1:31:51
And first practice is Tuesday morning. And the tournament starts the very next day
1:31:57
So it should be exciting. and it is a full slate of teams and schedules
1:32:03
So if you can get on there and take a look at some of it, it's amazing. There's some great lacrosse, some names you've heard
1:32:09
some names you've never heard of before, just great lacrosse. And to watch it in the outdoor box there at Raddleton Stadium is amazing as well
1:32:18
And if you have an opportunity, I really do suggest you tune in for a little bit
1:32:22
just to get a feel for it because it's pretty awesome. and maybe you'll see a few of us familiar faces hanging around but anyways until next week
