Eagles win
0:25
The Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Green Bay Packers 22-10. They move on to the divisional round
0:35
Now we wait and see who we play next. Is it going to be the Minnesota Vikings
0:42
Is it going to be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Or it's not going to be the Commanders
0:49
Well, we can worry about that another time. The Eagles win 22-20
0:55
Jalen Hurts did not have the best of games. Let's be honest with ourselves. He did not have the best of games
1:03
Hey, whenever you're ready, just pop one in. Ah, man. Man, what a game
1:10
What a game from the defensive side of the ball, guys. Three interceptions right off the kickoff of fumble recovery
1:20
What a game for the Philadelphia Eagles, guys. What a game. Needed this
1:25
The Green Bay Packers down the line, we're starting to get a little banged up
1:29
a little injury prone, which sucks. Prayer's up to everybody. Hopefully, everyone's okay over there
1:35
But what I'm saying is, they got out here with the dub, and I am happy for that
1:43
Let's just go down the stats right here, and then we can go on with the game
1:49
So, with the Philadelphia Eagles. Hold it. I don't need that. Yo, how's it going, man
2:03
Hey, can you hear me? Yep, I can hear you, man. Sorry, it was popping back on
2:07
Hey. Awesome. Man, what a game. What a game, man. How you doing? Matt, right
2:12
Yep, Matt. Yep. It's nice to meet you, bro. Nice to officially meet you. That's it, man
2:16
Yeah, for sure. But yeah, man, I mean, absolutely incredible game. Absolutely incredible from start to finish, literally from the start, right
2:23
You know, I mean, as far as the energy goes, Warren Burks with the absolute tone setter there on special teams, you know, big play for him
2:31
You know, he stepped in, had to fill in for N'Kobe Shoes during the game as well
2:35
And I thought did admirably. I mean, there was definitely some missed tackles and some things that you want to see cleaned up on his part there from the linebacker side
2:42
But overall, I mean, the defense, this is just the best defensive unit that I can remember and recent memory from a Philadelphia Eagles standpoint from top to bottom
2:52
I mean, the defensive line feels like it doesn't matter who it is on the line. Obviously, Nolan Smith comes up big with a couple of stops
2:58
Jalen Carter with a humongous stop on third down in the run game there to kind of force the fourth down play
3:03
You have it all the way around on the line. The linebacker play, it's sad to see what happened with N'Kobe, but he goes down making an incredible play
3:11
Something that he's done all year long. Zach Bond gets a big interception, you know, all pro linebacker
3:16
It was just a collective effort from the defensive side of things. And I don't know what more you want from there
3:22
The offense obviously still has some kinks to work out, but it's nice to walk away from a playoff win or a win in general
3:29
and still have areas where you say, hey, we can clean this up. We can still get better
3:34
We haven't hit our complete 100% stride, and you still beat a team by two scores
3:38
I don't know how much better you can feel about it walking away this way. For me, it's the defense, man
3:45
because they changed completely from last year to this year. I've always said this
3:49
If there was a defensive coordinator of the year award, give that to Vic Fangio
3:55
Because he deserves it by getting Jack Bond in here, making him into an inside linebacker
4:01
He got all these players to buy into the system. It works out
4:05
So, shout out to Vic Fangio there. But how happy are you with Jalen Hurts' play
4:10
For me, I was just like, eh. I wasn't that happy with it
4:14
Yeah, I don't see how you can really walk away from it being that happy about it, right
4:18
I mean, there was a lot of plays that were left out there. You see some of the struggles, which has kind of been since 2022 of him in the run game
4:26
It just doesn't seem like it's working as well. There were some times there where he picked up a few with his legs, which, you know, you like to see because that's something that he should be able to give you
4:36
But there's times where, you know, in the quarterback keepers and some of these moves where it's like, you just gave it to Saquon
4:41
You feel like you could have got more out of it. And you also didn't have to put your quarterback in a harm's way, you know, to kind of go ahead and do it
4:47
And so, you know, there's some stuff there that he has to clean up. I mean, you walk away from a game where, again, 13 to 21, 131 yards, as we see here from the box score
4:57
He takes two sacks. One of the sacks, I mean, he had a wide open Dallas Goddard for a hot second
5:02
He could have picked up four or five yards on, holds onto the ball, kind of trying to force some stuff downfield and ends up taking the sack there
5:09
So you don't want to see that. But you still come away with it where when it, you know, when it was clicking, things looked good, right
5:16
You know, the Jahan Dotson touchdown, I mean, that's more so credit, I would say, to an offensive line that gives them six seconds to throw a football
5:23
I mean, anybody gets six seconds to throw a football, typically somebody's going to come open
5:28
But that was a dart that he threw to Jahan Dotson. It was right on the money in the back of the end zone
5:32
He still had to lace it in there, and he did so. The play to Dallas Goddard, you know, incredible effort, obviously, after the catch on Goddard's standpoint, you know, putting Carrington Valentine, you know
5:42
So, you know, you kind of pull in the Gronkowski, you know, kind of bouncing them out the club, you know, kind of a thing
5:47
Hitting them a couple of times with the stiff arm. So that was good to see. But it was still a throw that was on time and needed to be where it was on that little kind of kind of play to pick up the first down
5:56
And so there's some plays you look at and you say, hey, you can take that. But with Jalen Hurts, this is something we kind of alluded to on football stories going into this week
6:05
And I know when a major, you know, commercial radio, they said it the whole week, too
6:09
which was just Hurts against zone coverage has just been a struggle all year long
6:14
And teams have been able to kind of give him fits that way because he's not really just willing to take what's in front of him
6:20
And that's something I think Jalen Hurts just has to get better at, which is understand that you don't have to strike a touchdown every play
6:27
You know, take the five yards, take the four yards, put yourself in third and manageable
6:31
Keep moving the chains because when you have a great running back like Saquon Barkley
6:35
a great offensive line and a collective group of weapons you can lean on that long term it's just
6:41
you can't always get it with the one shot play and sometimes it feels like hurts is just kind of
6:46
big game hunting a little too much that way and not just taking the four or five six yards that
6:50
are in front of them and working the you know to an eight play nine play drive to score a touchdown
6:55
yeah yeah it's just uh with jaylor hurts he was in the medical tent during the it was like in the
7:03
beginning of the game, what was it, the first quarter that he was in the medical tent? I knew something was up
7:08
He was not back 100%. Maybe he got dinged up. They wanted to check on him
7:12
For me, it's just like after that checkup in the medical tent, it went downhill
7:19
I'm like, we got weapons here. We got weapons. So we're good. The offensive line can hold up
7:24
You saw only letting up two sacks for 10 yards. So the offensive line did the best that they could
7:29
I am not mad at offensive line. I'm not mad at any of that. it's just like the chemistry felt off something was off with me and i'm still trying to figure out
7:39
like why yeah i mean uh they look at the stats i mean for the the first three drives i mean if you
7:43
call the first drive you know even a drive right just a couple plays and they scored the touchdown
7:48
but on the first three drives they had 103 yards they're averaging about 35 yards a drive and then
7:53
their next collective four drives they took nine yards total they were averaging 2.3 yards a drive
7:59
on those next four. And the stagnation, and it kind of continued, right
8:04
I mean, they got a first down on that first drive coming out of half, but then right after that, it was another set of three downs
8:10
and back there's a Brandon Mann punt the ball away again. And so at the end of the day, this is something that I think a lot of people expected
8:19
which was Jalen Hurts missing time, dealing with the concussion. He kind of even alluded to it a little bit when they talked to him about
8:26
were you able to kind of pick up on certain things or do certain things throughout the week And he just like not really Like I just kind of worried about being able to see and think and sleep and and kind of deal with the concussion protocol so he wasn able to kind of you know get in on the x and o as much as he probably would have liked and it showed you know
8:43
a player that that looked you know like he missed a couple weeks and so I think it was a humongous
8:48
benefit uh they were able to sit everybody you know last week against the Giants and kind of go
8:53
into this week but I think you saw a little bit of the attrition of rust that kind of builds up
8:58
sometimes you look at the college football playoffs, right? Like all four teams that got by weeks and are losing their first game
9:04
Sometimes when you have to, you know, a time off, it can help heal injuries
9:08
but it also can kind of ruin a little bit of the momentum. And that's what I kind of felt like a little bit with this Eagles offense
9:13
Kudos to the defense though. They did not look deterred at all. And they came out looking just as good as they had all season
9:19
I agree with your statement about Vic Fangio. If there was a defensive player of the year nomination
9:23
I don't see how he doesn't get it. I think they were 28th in DVOA last year
9:28
and they finished first this year at the end of the regular season. I mean, going from being a literal bottom three unit
9:35
or bottom four unit in the NFL to the best defensive unit overall
9:38
and not even just doing it from a perspective of, hey, they're getting lucky here or there
9:44
It's turnovers. It's stifling defensive on the run part of it. It's just keeping teams honest and bending, not breaking when you need to
9:52
They kind of just had it all. You saw it all against Jordan Love tonight
9:56
frustrating him into some throws that I know he would have liked back
9:59
And I know he was dealing with some injury stuff going into the week. And, you know, they were dropping like flies out there all over the place on the offensive line
10:07
And he lost another two wide receivers tonight with Jaden Reed and Romeo Dobbs in the end zone play
10:15
So that didn't help at all. But, you know, at the end of the day
10:18
the defense was playing exactly how they had all season. And I really don't think if Christian Watson was out there, if they had their full complement of players
10:26
It would have looked much different because this defensive unit came ready to roll and play from the moment the whistle blew
10:32
and up until the finish with, again, the Smith sack and obviously Quinan Mitchell getting his first ever interception
10:38
let alone his first playoff interception, along with Darius Slay, who was a longtime vet
10:43
getting his first playoff interception for his career as well. So big marks all around
10:47
Yeah, and especially for Zach Bond. He had his own pick. He had his own interception
10:52
The play before that, it hit the ground. So I'm just like, he got his get back
10:57
And then he was in the back helping Quinion Mitchell get his first pick. He was holding the wide receiver back
11:04
So Zach Bond, the best mover of this offseason, all pro. Zach Bond deserves to get extended now
11:11
Like right now, he's got to get extended, bro. I mean, obviously, probably the reason why he hasn't to this point is because
11:18
Zach Bond and Zach Bond's agent are looking at the dollar signs, keeping it rolling and trying to make sure, hey
11:23
We can't let Howie Roseman get away with this two years in a row, right? He's going to have to pony up and pay some money here
11:29
So we'll have to see what decisions they make. I mean, I agree with you
11:34
Between him and N'Kobe Dean, full stop, best linebacker core that I can remember in Philadelphia
11:39
Obviously, the 2017 year, Nigel Bradham was playing incredible football. But that was one linebacker
11:45
We saw TJ Edwards have some really good, solid seasons at linebacker
11:49
But nothing like we're seeing out of Zach Bond right now. I mean, he's kind of transcendent on that linebacker core
11:55
And like I said, the Eagles just haven't invested in that position in a long time
11:59
They haven't spent draft capital at that position in a long time. And here they are paying dividends
12:04
I thought in 2017, when they signed Patrick Robinson for the chunk change signing, they
12:09
signed him for it ended up being tremendous, you know, big interceptions there. The return against the Vikings in the NFC championship game, which really is a tone
12:19
setter for them. And he was a steal of the signing that they made
12:22
And Zach Vaughn has made that signing look like chump change at this point because he's making plays every week
12:28
and obviously still making plays in the playoffs when the time gets the hottest
12:33
I would not be mad if he goes for the bag because he deserves it
12:38
Whoever gives him the bag, he needs it. He's got to protect his family, his loved ones
12:44
He's got to figure out what's best for him. And if you're getting the best offer, let's say from like the Saints, you have him go right back to the Saints
12:51
It'll be like, yeah, I'll take that. He probably won't go back to the Saints, but I'm just saying
12:55
Yeah, I mean, you would think with Zach Bond right now, there's probably a happy medium that he's probably willing to settle for
13:00
Because, I mean, Vic Fangio solved something in a guy who had never been put in a position to play
13:07
True off-ball linebacker like Zach Bond has been, right? Like when he was with the Saints, he was just a parentally misused player
13:14
You know, they, they were, they were throwing him up on the line, using him as like a, a
13:18
D end in three, four sets, uh, you know, asking him only to rush the passer, you know, not
13:23
dropping in coverage at all his coverage numbers. I mean, I know PFF isn't, you know, uh, everything, right
13:28
They get a lot of stuff wrong too, but when you look at his coverage numbers, like they
13:31
look really bad. And so going even into the season, you're thinking, wow, I mean, they're really counting
13:36
on a Kobe Dean to take a step forward again. Like they're counting on, um, uh, the signing that they made in the off season, uh, bringing
13:43
in from Tampa Bay, his name's escaping me right now. Not Levante David, but the other one they
13:49
brought in, Devin White, when they brought Devin White in. And so they're like, all right, well
13:54
who's going to actually play off ball linebacker in this room? And all of a sudden here's Zach
13:57
Bond, right? Like Vic Fangio picked this guy out of the hat and said, I think I can make him my
14:02
linebacker. And he was right. And so with Bond playing the way he's playing, he's obviously
14:07
earned himself a payday, but he's got to be thinking, Hey, why would I walk away from a
14:11
system that has showcased me and my talents as well as this if i can kind of reach a happy medium
14:17
where i don't have to set the market as the highest paid linebacker but i can still get a
14:22
good chunk of change i think he might settle for that because it really is best of both worlds to
14:26
get all the accolades still get paid and obviously eagles are moving on and their run's not over you
14:32
could be looking at some a team that can be competing for multiple championships in a window
14:36
and that is something tough really to walk away from. Yeah, yeah, and not just him
14:42
Nolan Smith had himself a day too, dude. Nolan Smith was just going off
14:46
He finished with eight tackles, four solo, two sacks, two tackles for a loss
14:52
He's been having an incredible year this year, and he stepped up in one of the biggest games of this
14:58
Of course, it's the playoffs, but he stepped up. Give me your thoughts on Nolan Smith
15:06
uh can you hear me yeah i can hear you now sorry you went away for a hot second there
15:13
it kind of blipped out it's all good oh okay uh nolan smith yeah give me a thought on him
15:17
yeah i mean with nolan smith i mean at the beginning of the year uh in the preseason he
15:20
had a couple of sacks kind of in junk time playing with like the third stringers and everybody's like
15:24
that's not a good look right he's a first you know first round pick here he is taking snaps
15:29
with the third teamers vic vanjio kind of boohooed everything in perfect kind of curmudgeon uh vic
15:34
Fangio ways where he's just like yeah I mean he's supposed to make those plays blah blah blah
15:38
and uh you know the expectation level for for Nolan Smith coming into the season was was pretty
15:43
low uh especially after signing Bryce Huff in the offseason and uh you know I'm spending another
15:48
draft pick on a Jalex Hunt and looking at you know Brandon Graham and and Josh Sweat and the
15:53
way it was like where does Nolan Smith actually fit into this thing and as Bryce Huff kind of
15:58
disappointed this year Nolan Smith was the complete opposite of that where he showcased
16:02
uh just a guy who has uh tenacity to be able to get better week in and week out i thought he's been
16:09
uh better against the run than i expected you know he was supposed to be you know when they
16:14
drafted him uh hasan reddick's kind of like natural replacement as a guy who fits that mold
16:19
kind of rushes the passer in the same kind of speed way uh that hasan reddick did and i thought
16:24
i saw nolan smith get a little bulkier and a little bigger uh to be able to stand a little
16:29
stouter against the run and then also has improved his pass rush completely uh in doing so because he
16:35
was kind of getting whitewashed it looked like in years past just being a little too light not being
16:40
able to move some of those tackles and now he's strong enough to kind of you know move around them
16:44
uh kind of you know fit a gap when he needs to and make a play in the run game and then also
16:48
is still explosive enough to go out there and make plays rushing the passer with his two sacks
16:53
you know the last one there just kind of wrapping up jordan love there uh as the refs uh you know
16:57
blew the whistle. And yeah, I mean, here we are looking at, you know, picks that they've spent
17:03
And Nolan Smith was a guy who was like maybe they missed on this And no they didn You know here a guy who they may be able to count on for a couple more years here while he still on his rookie contract I thought you know Jordan Davis he got a couple key calls when he was in there
17:18
some holding calls when Elton Jenkins went out. It felt like they were really kind of bullying
17:22
them in the middle. And so even when he wasn't necessarily showing up on the stat sheet, he was doing good things for them to keep pushing the Packers back and making it harder for them to
17:31
move the chains so I think overall you're seeing the youth movement of this team between the two
17:36
corners that they drafted this year and obviously guys like Smith Carter you know he should have
17:41
been an all-pro right I mean he was that good they're in good hands going forward and that is
17:47
what makes you know re-signing Zach Bond and some of the other pieces a little harder because you are
17:52
hitting on so many of these picks sometimes it's easier to kind of let one of those guys walk and
17:57
knowing that you have guys to fit those shoes. But I think letting Bond walk would be a mistake
18:02
They have to definitely make a good effort to get him back in an Eagles uniform
18:07
And again, Nolan Smith looking like house money at this point. Yeah, same with Orion Burks too
18:13
He had that forced fumble in the very first kickoff. He got the ball for us in the beginning and J
18:18
Mike Carter Jr. picked it up. I'm just saying this defense on another level
18:22
I said this on my show, Fly Like an Eagle, that the teams are afraid to play this defense
18:28
Like, how can you watch this game and just go up and be like, oh, we're not afraid
18:32
You're good. I get your confidence. But this defense is a whole other animal with Vic Fangio and company at the helm
18:39
I'm telling you, I'm getting those, like, 2000s vibes, you know, Dawkins, Trotter
18:46
Zona Brown, Javon Kurtz. I'm getting those kinds of vibes. And the youth movement, you knocked it right out of the park
18:52
I totally agree with you on the youth movement. I mean, the Eagles are doing the right thing
18:57
It took Howie Roseman so many years to not draft it like Georgia
19:02
those big schools. And once he did that, you started seeing the rebuild going and commence
19:08
and it worked out perfect. So you've got to give Howie Roseman all the credit in the world here
19:13
You do. Yeah, 100%. But it's between Howie Roseman and the rest of the scouting department
19:17
just kind of being able to make this change on the fly, right? I mean, we talked, you talk about your blue in the face, right
19:23
Jalen Rager over Justin Jefferson and JJ Ortega-Whiteside, you know, from Stanford
19:29
instead of taking AJ Brown, you know, in that draft or anything else like that, right? So like, there's been plenty of times where they've, you know
19:35
how he has kind of thought of himself as the smartest guy in the room. And now he's, you know, looking at SEC schools and guys who have performed in big spots
19:43
but still willing to take a Jalex hunt, right? Like an absolute small school guy who he thinks he can kind of build around
19:50
Um, and, and so I think there's a best of both worlds mentality with that because there
19:55
are some really good players that come out of small schools. You don't want to ignore them completely. Um, you know, it, that doesn't really do you any favors there, uh, in doing so
20:03
I mean, even Isaiah Rogers who stepped in, in a couple of snaps here, I mean, he went
20:06
to Tampa, uh, I think Tampa university is where, uh, or he went to UMass, sorry, with
20:10
the U.S. So he went to UMass. So again, small school guy who, you know, they recruited after the Colts had their fiasco
20:16
with him doing the betting, uh, shenanigans. And so, you know, looking at small school guys, there's no problem with that
20:22
But when you're drafting, you know, in the first round and the second round, just take some bread and butter, you know, big school talent that looks good on film
20:29
and also looks like they can get better at the NFL. And, you know, they've been able to do that, right
20:34
I mean, but again, if you didn't take a small school guy, you might not have taken a Quinone Mitchell out of Toledo
20:39
if you didn't understand, you know, how good he was in looking at his film against Ohio State, some of the big schools he played
20:45
So again, best of both worlds mentality about it. And I think Howie and the whole scouting department deserves all the roses here because they're
20:55
learning and that's all you can ask, right? I mean, you're going to make mistakes
20:59
It is what it is. NFL draft is a crapshoot. It really is. But if you don't learn from your mistakes and you keep bashing your head against the wall
21:06
that's how you dig yourself two years, three years too deep to not be able to make it back
21:10
with young talent. And this team was able to pivot when it mattered most. And we're seeing reaping the benefits of that
21:16
Yeah. I mean, Jalen Carter did not have his best of days, but he's been getting compared to like a Warren Sapp kind of guy
21:23
That is a guy you've got to dribble team at all costs. You've got Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis
21:29
who's not having the best of seasons, but you've still got to put your name
21:33
You've still got to recognize him. At the end of the day, it's a collective effort, right
21:38
We saw all the time with guys like Fletcher Cox, right? Like Fletcher Cox, there was tons of times where Fletcher just wouldn't show up in a stat sheet
21:46
But then you watch the film and you're like, he's getting double teamed and double teamed and triple teamed
21:50
And it's like, what more can you ask a guy to do? And you look at the rest of the guys on the defensive line and they're eating
21:56
And it's like, well, if Fletcher wasn't taking as much of the attention away, those other guys probably don't make those plays
22:03
So for every play that Nolan Smith makes and Josh Sweat makes and those guys make Milton Williams
22:08
like there's credit that has to go to a Jalen Carter or Jordan Davis who are really mucking
22:13
it up and eating in the middle there and uh freeing the lanes for those guys to come in
22:17
and make some big plays so um you know defense especially but football as a whole is the ultimate
22:22
team sport it takes a whole collective group to make things kind of move in the direction you want
22:27
it to and the Eagles have uh plenty of talent and plenty of guys who are who are willing to
22:31
sacrifice I mean talk about what Saquon Barkley has done right I mean he sacrifices you know
22:36
is sitting to not get the record uh last you know plays of the game here he you know he you know
22:41
slides it down and make sure that he doesn't uh go get the touchdown because you know he the
22:46
clock's moving and he wants to keep the playoff train moving i mean you have so many selfless
22:51
guys on this football team um that it's just it's incredible to watch and they're so easy to root for
22:58
because everybody there has each other's backs and it's just good in for the collective ride one goal
23:03
as a whole is to lift that Lombardi. And it seems like they're all on the same page. Yeah, they're all on the same page
23:09
But the weakest link I got to point out is Jake Elliott. He missed that extra point
23:13
I mean, I'm still getting kind of nervous of Jake Elliott going up for kicks. I'm still thinking Harry Roderick
23:18
or not Harry Roderick, damn, Sirianni is going to go for two
23:21
or go for it on fourth down. And I'm like, no. Like, do you see a problem there
23:26
or am I overreacting with Jake Elliott? I don't think you're overreacting
23:31
I think it's one of those things like this, this has grown in to be a little bit of the jake elliott experience sometimes it's like yeah um
23:37
any anything that's right there he's kind of like the jalen hurts of kickers right it's like
23:42
uh anything that's right there in front of him these little chip shots these extra points it's
23:46
like oh man i don't feel so confident line him up from 50 yards you're like okay he's gonna sink
23:51
that like it just feels like it's so backwards sometimes with jake elliott because like you
23:56
think you think of him more being able to bang in those long range ones and he gets a little
24:00
skittish sometimes I don't know if he's overthinking it uh while he's lining up for him
24:04
obviously it was a benefit that you know uh Temple grad and a Philadelphia native uh Brandon
24:08
McManus uh decided to uh to miss one himself in this game maybe taking a little bit of the heat
24:13
off of uh Jake Elliott on the extra point a bit um but yeah I mean you definitely want to feel
24:19
more confident but that's been kicking as a whole I mean Justin Tucker has had a rough season right
24:24
I was about to say that yeah yeah so I it is one of those things that just feels like it's uh
24:30
nobody feels like that great about their kicking situation so if that is the one place that you're
24:36
like pointing to as being the weak link you feel pretty good overall uh that that's it because i
24:41
would look at you know 28 27 other teams at least that are looking at their kicker and saying that's
24:46
probably our weak link too yeah i mean just kicking in general just a shock to me usually
24:52
just like an easy one and now everyone's like missing like there's no tomorrow so give one job
24:57
guy come on you know what this reminds me of did you ever see the movie longest yard oh yeah of
25:03
course yep yeah that's him that's literally him so you're just ripping ripping darts on the sideline
25:09
coming through yeah so who's your player in the game for the offensive and defensive side
25:16
like yeah i mean if you look on the defensive side it's probably got to be zach bond uh yeah
25:21
the interception was it was incredible there um and then just kind of in the mix for everything
25:26
uh i have to kind of point the uh the the nod i think zach bonds way uh on the defensive side
25:32
that obviously orrin burks with the big tone setter but special teams technically uh so i mean i give
25:37
him his his roses there i mean again if that play doesn happen this game is uh probably a lot different and you look at Saquon Barkley right I mean it didn seem like it was the loudest 120 yards on the ground but still 120 yards on the ground almost right 119 yards on 25 carries He felt
25:54
like he was a consistent kind of offensive threat to keep putting them in positions to pick up some
26:00
of these third downs. And even if he didn't get the scores, even if he didn't have, you know
26:04
the really big plays, right? 17 yards was his longest rush that he had today
26:08
He didn't bust out any of those big 50 plusers. He just felt like somebody they can count on giving the ball to
26:14
And knowing that Hertz was coming in off the concussion, knowing that AJ Brown was dealing with the knee issue
26:21
Devonta Smith had some back tightness and didn't practice on Friday. You know, the Packers were coming into this game saying
26:27
we've got to stop Saquon Barkley. That's the one way we're going to lose this football game
26:31
And he still ended up with, you know, almost 120 yards on the ground. And so I think that all kind of encompassing, it's a collective effort, offensive line and Saquon
26:41
But I think that just keeps the Eagles ahead of schedule and covers up a lot more of the warts that we probably would be seeing with this Jalen Hurts experience if it wasn't for Saquon Barkley putting them in more manageable situations to try to move the chains
26:56
Yeah, so for me, for my defensive player of the game, I'm going to have to go with Nolan Smith
27:01
He got the only two sacks on the team. Jordan Love, he did look banged up after the second one
27:07
We all knew Jordan Love was going to be banged up with the hand, funny bone, whatever you want to call it, with his arm
27:13
He's just been banged up. The whole team got banged up in the end of the game there
27:18
And then the offense, I agree. It's Saquon Barkley. There's no other player I can go with on there
27:24
I was going to say Jalen Hurts for the very start of the first quarter. He was like 7 for 8 for a touchdown
27:29
So I was going to say him, but he dialed back after the medical tent
27:34
So for me, it's Saquon Barkley and then Nolan Smith. So what are your grades for this team, offensively and defensively
27:42
Yeah, offensively, I'm going to go with – I'll say B-minus, B-minus, C-plus
27:48
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I mean it's probably around there because, again, we've seen what it's looked like even with Tanner McKee over the last couple of weeks
27:53
and we know what kind of well-oiled machine it could be over the run that they had
27:58
winning all those games in a row. And so when you look at this effort, you know that they left plays
28:03
out there, right? So I can't give them too high of marks. I think Barkley obviously is a big reason
28:09
why they even got to the B-minus of that grade. But when you look at it and you got A.J. Brown
28:16
on the sideline reading self-help books because he's not involved at all basically on the offense
28:21
right? One catch for 10 yards, sees three targets in this game. Devonta Smith with only 55 yards
28:27
28 of them came on the one the one play that set up the Dallas Goddard touchdown um so in the in
28:32
the Dallas Goddard play was incredible right I mean the the double stiff arms that's kind of
28:37
trucking his way into the end zone it's kind of stuff you want to see out of Dallas um because
28:41
there's so many times he kind of has that Zach Ertz kind of knack where it's like he'll catch the ball
28:45
and go down right where he's at and it's like all right great I mean I'll take the first downs all
28:49
all around but you know with with his big body and his power he can kind of yak it out a bit and
28:54
And that was great to see him showcase his ability to do so. But again, the offense just hasn't hit that stride that you'd want him to hit
29:02
And on the defensive side of the ball, I mean, it's an A, A, A
29:06
I would say straight up A. I'm not going to give him an A plus, but I would say an A for them
29:11
I mean, Jake, Josh Jacobs kind of took him, took him to town a little bit here in the run game
29:16
He only ended up with 81 yards, but it felt like it was a big 81 plus 40 extra yards in the passing game
29:22
So it felt like he was kind of getting open too much. There was a plenty of times where, you know, even when, you know
29:28
Reed went out and Dobbs went out that it's like, okay, here comes Bo Melton with the 16 yard grab. Here comes, you know
29:33
Tucker craft with another one and Dontavian Wicks with another good catch
29:37
you know, 29 yard catch in this game. So I would like to see them clean it up a little bit, but three turnovers
29:44
right. You know, on the defensive side of the ball with the three interceptions highlighted the
29:48
fact that it was, you know, career interception, number one for Quinone Mitchell, first playoff one, Darius Slay, first playoff one period
29:54
and Zach Bond, obviously in the same boat there, you know, attacking on. So you love the effort
29:58
all around and no excuses in the NFL. This is a team that made the playoffs. You're playing them
30:04
even if they are banged up, even if they lost their left guard, you know, Pro Bowl left guard
30:08
Elton Jenkins in the game, you have to play them and you can only play who you have. You hold them
30:12
to 10 points and your offense didn't do you any favors really in this game, put you back out on
30:18
the field you know very quickly uh mind you so a lot of times there they could have gotten gassed
30:23
right like a lot of defense they get gassed when they're out there too much and it didn't feel like
30:27
they really lost the steam that uh that they could have so uh sort of a effort i think on the defensive
30:32
side of the ball at least yeah so for me i'm gonna start the defensive side of the ball i'm gonna go
30:38
with an a solid there were some times where like you said jacques got a little bit of free he gained
30:44
like 40 or 50 yards. And on the offensive side of the ball, I'm going to go B
30:50
I'm being a little generous here because they did have some nice start. They had a nice start
30:55
They had a couple of nice plays. So I'm going to give them a B. Being generous here, being generous
31:00
But, yes, guys, this is the Eagles versus Green Bay Packers wildcard posting

32:48
You can find me pretty much anywhere. Without further ado, let's go, Bears
32:52
And real quick, who do you think we're going to play next week? I think it's going to be Tampa Bay
32:57
I think Todd Bowles just has a knack for making rookie quarterbacks look a little silly
33:03
I know Philadelphia, you know, we kind of saw that happen right there when they played them down in Tampa the first year
33:10
They made the playoffs with the Nick Sirianni experience. And so I'm predicting Tampa Bay is going to win that game
33:16
And obviously, you know, you get the higher of the two seeds. So I think it's going to end up being Tampa Bay
33:20
But it's going to be a different story this time around when the Tampa Bay Bucs have to come to the link
33:25
instead of having to travel down there to Tampa. And yeah, I think it's going to be a good game
33:29
But I still see this Birds team making their way to the Super Bowl
33:33
It just all depends on who they meet there to see what the final destination looks like. Yeah, and as of right now, with 11.35 left
33:40
the Buccaneers are up 3-0, and they have the ball on Tampa Bay's 35-yard line
33:46
So they got the ball, they're up 3-0. So I think we got the Buccaneers as well
33:51
Personally, I think the Vikings are frauds, but we'll see against the Rams
33:55
I agree with that statement. I think the Rams win that game. Yeah, I have that too
34:00
I have that too. But yeah, guys, we'll catch you all for the next Eagles postgame show
34:05
See you guys and have a good one
