0:32
Botanical Gardens and um it's a nice day
0:37
I've been out uh checking out some spots
0:40
so uh I'm kind of
0:42
wilted it's um it's probably about 80
0:46
degrees here and
0:49
um but the humidity is very high here in
0:51
the southern
0:52
us uh so you probably got uh 80 uh
0:57
probably 80% humidity so it's like
1:00
squeezing squeezing water out of the air
1:04
but uh the botanical gardens is located
1:07
uh located here in Birmingham uh the
1:11
gardens are free um you can uh walk
1:17
around in the gardens take your time
1:19
there's a there's a lot of different
1:22
sections to the gardens and we'll be
1:24
explaining that as we as we go
1:26
along um but it's a it's a nice day to
1:29
see the gardens it's overcast uh has
1:32
sprinkled a little bit but uh you know
1:35
if it's hot out here then um they have
1:39
places you can sit um nice relaxing
1:43
spots with tables uh chairs benches uh
1:47
have drinks uh soft
1:48
drinks and uh it makes a nice outing uh
1:52
for a day uh you can come and take your
1:56
time walk through whatever area of the
1:59
garden you would wish to see or walk
2:00
through all the areas of the garden
2:04
um we'll uh we'll kind of get into a
2:06
little history of the gardens and and uh
2:08
check on some of the some of the uh some
2:12
of the the the main uh the main the main
2:15
sections of the garden uh it's been
2:17
raining for the past few days so um
2:21
flowers uh they're a little they're
2:23
little on the wilted side uh a little on
2:26
the drench side uh they're also doing
2:29
some construction work and renovation
2:31
improvements to the gardens and U we're
2:35
not going to see really all of what we
2:38
expected but we'll try to uh try to give
2:41
you a little uh little overview of the
2:43
Birmingham botanical gardens uh what you
2:46
can expect uh if you visit uh we'll try
2:50
to try to show you some video and uh
2:53
maybe try to insert some uh steel uh
2:56
photos as well but it's uh it's a real
2:59
really nice area uh it's a big draw for
3:03
the Birmingham area uh just a few blocks
3:06
away is the Birmingham Zoo which we'll
3:09
try to uh we'll try to try to feature
3:12
that later uh try to get there uh later
3:15
but uh there's some folks out here today
3:18
even though it uh it is has looked as if
3:21
it might rain uh we've got several looks
3:24
like several School groups out touring
3:26
the gardens uh and there's there's
3:28
different activities that you can find
3:31
here okay I'm going to I'm going to

10:27
examples of the type of trees that you
10:30
find here in the southern

USA and of course the Japanese Gardens
10:36
are very popular uh probably one of the

lot of nice seating areas here and uh
11:28
nice little places together a lot lot of
11:32
people come
11:34
here uh you have a rather
11:37
large pool two little bridges that cross
11:41
the
11:42
pool and um got some I guess they're
11:46
goldfish or maybe some koi fish in the
11:50
uh in the pool here but uh they kind of
11:55
uh like to come up
11:57
uh when people are around and I think
12:00
probably some people may throw them out
12:03
some food
12:07
occasionally um like I say this is this
12:10
is a popular part of the
12:13
gardens and uh very relaxing water is
12:18
very relaxing
12:20
here and uh there's a trail that that
