Buy & Sell Alert Using DMI Cross Over on ThinkorSwim

Today we’ll be going in depth on how to create an advanced DMI crossover alert and only get alerted when one of our stocks meets our buy or sell criteria. The entire point of these alerts being to save you time and only get notified when you’d actually want to place a trade. We’ll be creating an alert specifically for a buy or sell signal using the DMI. The DMI is actually 3 separate indicators all rolled into one. We’ve got the +DI line and -DI line which act as our indicator for trend direction. It also includes an ADX line which acts as a gauge for the strength of the trend. The alert will look for the ADX to be above a value of 25, indicating the stock is currently in a strong trend. It will also be looking for a recent DMI crossover to act as the actual buy or sell signal.
