This event allowed the Israelites to conquer the city, marking the beginning of their campaign to take possession of the Promised Land (Joshua 6). Jerusalem - Jerusalem's walls have been built, destroyed, and rebuilt numerous times throughout history. Nehemiah, serving the Persian king, was moved by God to return and rebuild Jerusalem's walls against opposition and threats from surrounding enemies. This reconstruction was crucial for the protection and identity of the Israelites returning from exile (Nehemiah 2-6).
