Five very common mistakes in Spanish

If you're hot because of the temperature say: Tengo calor. Don't say: Estoy caliente. If you feel bored, say: Estoy aburrido/a. Don't say: Soy aburrido. Another very common false friend: actualmente means nowadays. And actually means: en realidad. When we talk about age, say: Tengo...años. Don't say: Soy...años. The verb realizar means to perform, to carry on. What you'll want to say is: darse cuenta: to realize. So we'll say: me di cuenta de...., meaning I realized that...
