Netflix have produced a lot of really great original content recently, but there's still times when they have things on the US version of Netflix that are not available outside of the US

And what happens if you want to take a look at those TV shows or films? Netflix know where you are in the world via your internet settings, and so that can be easily tricked via a service called a VPN, a virtual private network

It can make the internet think that you're based in a different part of the world to where you are

So I'm in the UK. If I want to appear as if I'm in America, I'd use a VPN and that would make Netflix think I was in America and show me American content

The problem with the loss of VPNs is it can be a bit all or nothing. All your traffic appears as if it's coming from America or none of it does

And that can lead to issues around things like shopping or banking

It may think that you're outside of your country and may lock you out of your bank. So I've chosen Getflix because they offer a smart DNS system which only routes Netflix traffic over the American VPN

The rest of your traffic carries on as normal, so you can use this very quickly and simply

It's very easy to set up, sign up for an account, you'll have to register your current IP address

Once Getflix knows your current IP address, you select which services you want running over the American pipe

So you select America for Netflix, hit the update button, and then there's just one last little step to unlock it

You're going to have to enter the DNS settings into your device. Now, you can enter the DNS settings into your router

and that will route all traffic that you have connected to your router via GetFlix

And that will mean that you unlock the American Netflix for any TVs tablets consoles mobiles anything at all that connected to your Wi will use GetFlix

However, I have a problem because Virgin, my internet supplier, do not allow me to enter the settings on my router

Instead, I've entered them directly onto my TV. If your TV is like my TV, you simply go to the network settings and it will probably be automatically getting the settings

You turn that off, enter the closest DNS server to you. It's just a string of four numbers

This is super easy. It looks technical, but it's really not super easy. Enter those four numbers, press connect

make sure the TV is connected to the internet, and that's it. Very easy to check if it's worked

because Netflix handily now provides the top 10 in your area. So it will say the top 10 UK listings
