probably not the faces You're Expecting
0:02
my name's Leo and I'm Diana and today
0:04
we're going to be talking about the
0:07
hardest parts of the real estate exam
0:09
and how to conquer those parts and some
0:11
of the free resources that are out there
0:12
obviously a Shameless plug are resources
0:15
but they are free and we'll explain why
0:16
we created them in the first place and
0:18
some of the tips and tricks that our
0:20
students have said that these are the
0:22
best most important things to know
0:23
before you take the exam but before we
0:25
get into that I think we should explain
0:27
why we are here and Zach's not here
0:29
right right which you all know
0:32
so just so you know so I'm I'm the owner
0:35
of real estate license wizard uh Zach is
0:38
actually my cousin and we ended up
0:40
teaming up together I created the exam
0:42
app and he was the face and did all the
0:44
research and the whole reason we started
0:47
this thing actually spawned out of your
0:50
story
0:51
so probably 10 years ago gosh that makes
0:55
us sound old I was trying to get my real
0:58
estate license because I didn't know
0:59
what to do and I thought why not be a
1:01
realtor I'm sociable people like me I
1:04
could sell houses well
1:06
it is a lot harder than it sounds these
1:10
tests that they have you take and we
1:11
will definitely get into that in ways
1:14
that you know helped me and little like
1:15
cheats and things like that so we can
1:17
help you and you wouldn't have to take
1:19
it maybe five times like I did yes well
1:21
the key was with those five times there
1:24
was an app out there that you you
1:25
purchased why don't you tell us about
1:27
that oh gosh the app well what that it
1:29
was two hundred dollars each time or it
1:31
was pretty expensive yeah so like this
1:34
was years ago so we were maybe what 20
1:36
we didn't have
1:38
so much money to just scan our credit
1:40
card for a thousand dollars like no
1:42
thanks yeah I don't know if it was that
1:44
much but it was it was a lot it was a
1:45
lot and the challenge was that the two
1:48
things one you couldn't just retake it
1:50
without having to pay every single time
1:52
yesterday and then the other thing was
1:55
is that some of the information was
1:57
outdated so so that's essentially the
1:59
Genesis or the start of real estate
2:01
license wizard I got together with Zach
2:03
again I'm the programmer the developer
2:06
of the app and Zach ended up you know
2:08
creating all of the course material and
2:10
things like that and one of the things
2:12
that he found and we both found and you
2:14
found too is a lot of the information
2:16
especially on the state portions was
2:18
incorrect so Zach really took a lot of
2:22
time to go through every single state we
2:24
don't have all the states but most of
2:25
them you can check on our website and
2:27
every single law and ended up creating
2:30
uh what we think is the best or at least
2:32
most accurate right I mean there's a lot
2:34
of Great Courses out there obviously
2:36
we're partial to our own
2:38
but one of the nice things and maybe you
2:40
might not know this is that everything
2:41
that we have and do is actually free and
2:44
of course we have a paid course so you
2:46
can take but if you want to take you
2:48
know the math exam the national exam the
2:50
state exam it's all free and you can you
2:52
can check that out but I would highly
2:53
suggest taking the course
2:56
um I know that when I took a course it
2:58
definitely helped yeah and we took that
3:01
and we kind of I mean we built our own
3:03
and made it better in my opinion yeah
3:08
I wish I had what what we have now back
3:11
then yeah yeah of course okay so so now
3:15
on to the topic of today what is the
3:17
hardest part of the real estate exam
3:18
what do you think Diana I don't think
3:21
that's a fair question because I think
3:23
to me it was it was all hard we all
3:25
learned differently we all prepared
3:27
differently
3:28
um so I would say it's you can't really
3:31
just come out with an easy answer okay
3:33
obviously some people are good at math
3:36
that's a good one math yeah
3:39
um they definitely have math and they
3:40
make it tricky they do yeah it's not
3:42
like trigger algebra
3:44
remember they made these like like long
3:46
paragraph questions and you can use a
3:49
calculator for sure but they were tricky
3:52
yeah we definitely were tricky but the
3:54
good news is it's only about 20 of the
3:57
exam so some of the most important parts
3:59
right are the National right so the
4:02
typically they're between 100 and 150
4:05
questions on the test you know as we
4:07
said the the math portion is only about
4:08
20 and the more significant test parts
4:12
of the tests are the National real
4:13
estate questions and the local real
4:15
estate questions so things that you need
4:17
to know uh are your vocabulary oh my
4:20
gosh vocabulary yes that is a huge huge
4:24
part of the test
4:25
only way in my opinion is to do it as
4:27
flash cards I know it sounds like you're
4:29
going way back like to high school maybe
4:32
even before that whenever you use
4:33
flashcards I don't know but that is the
4:36
best way to do it and put the definitely
4:40
do do the definitions but also add the
4:43
was it fair fair housing laws yeah the
4:46
different flash Parts a must yeah yeah
4:49
in fact you know we actually have flash
4:51
cards in the course and we also have a
4:55
vocabulary terms uh app on our site
4:57
which you can access for free instead of
5:00
heading hand cramps because I remember
5:02
we had stacks of cards there's so many
5:05
and there I'm telling you every one of
5:06
them is on these exams yeah so and
5:09
obviously if you don't understand the
5:11
concept of the word you're not it's very
5:13
unlikely you're going to be able to get
5:15
the answer in that case you're gonna
5:16
have to guess and what do you think
5:17
about guessing oh well
5:20
guessing they say to go with C
5:24
I can't tell you if that's right but
5:27
also like seriously I remember if I
5:29
didn't I remember like thinking back if
5:32
I didn't know a question you just they
5:34
give you the option to skip like you can
5:36
skip through it but then it eventually
5:37
comes back and then you're looking at
5:39
and you're like oh my gosh I I just
5:41
really don't know this don't leave it
5:42
blank because that's a one in four
5:44
chance that you can get it right versus
5:45
just definitely getting it wrong by
5:47
leaving it blank so guessing in in my
5:50
opinion is focused yeah and further tips
5:52
from from the students that have taken
5:54
this I've got a whole list of them here
5:56
um is they did say skip them initially
5:57
and then come back to them you know look
5:59
for you know similar try to eliminate
6:02
the ones that you know maybe one that
6:03
you can just tell that is definitely
6:05
false because then you have maybe a one
6:06
and three or one and two chance and the
6:08
other thing I want to mention too is
6:10
that um you know one of the reasons
6:12
we're in real estate is actually because
6:13
my mom she's phenomenal at real estate's
6:15
been in it for what 40 years she has a
6:18
team of 15 people so if you're looking
6:20
at you know becoming a realtor she's you
6:24
know something to Aspire to be obviously
6:27
I'm biased she's my mom and she's
6:28
wonderful but basically uh the reason
6:31
why I'm telling you this is that there's
6:32
15 Realtors on our team and there's only
6:34
one of them that passed it the first
6:36
time so I don't even think your mom has
6:38
it the first time I you know I was so
6:40
young she did my mom was working like I
6:43
remember she was working like three jobs
6:45
studying for her real estate exam in the
6:47
evening she was working at Bob Evans and
6:49
every night my mom and dad studied
6:51
together and this was a long time ago
6:52
but I don't I don't know if she passed
6:55
it the first time or not but I don't
6:57
think she did yeah I'll take your word
6:59
for it and you know what guess what guys
7:00
it doesn't matter this woman sells 300
7:04
and what 68 homes a year and there's
7:06
only 365 days in a year so it doesn't
7:08
matter and you're not it doesn't matter
7:10
if you pass in the first time second
7:11
time yeah we're just trying to help you
7:12
pass it in general yeah the key is that
7:15
once you pass this I mean that's the the
7:17
thing that you have to kind of get out
7:19
of your way in order to you know start
7:21
your new life Journey right um so
7:23
anyways how important vocabulary we
7:26
covered that we talked about the math
7:28
yeah it's challenging but you have a
7:30
calculator and you just practice the
7:32
math problems yeah it's true like they
7:34
try to trip you up and we've got a lot
7:37
of we got a free math exam on real
7:40
estate licenseward.com where you can
7:42
practice and it covers a lot of those
7:44
things
7:45
um you know and some of the other tips
7:48
that we have is answer the easy stuff
7:49
first we just talked about that make
7:51
sure you answer every question we talked
7:53
about that and then we talked about the
7:55
fair housing laws and one thing that's
7:57
really important is that
7:59
um a lot of our students have said that
8:01
it's really important to take the exam
8:03
under time constraints because on exam
8:06
day your your times right yeah
8:09
remember how ever how long you get maybe
8:11
it's three hours I could be way wrong I
8:14
think it's some really we cover it on
8:15
our site but yeah but yeah and um
8:18
but yeah so long story short make sure
8:20
you practice it under pressure so yeah
8:22
uh you can go to Real Estate licensures
8:24
or and then take our free practice exam
8:27
but make sure you set a clock next to
8:28
you or an alarm so you can see how
8:31
quickly you're doing it because the last
8:32
thing you want to do is go on you know
8:34
into test day and unfortunately you know
8:37
get 80 you know however many percent all
8:39
of them right but not get to all of your
8:41
questions good point and then the
8:43
recently did we talk about fair housing
8:46
laws and the laws and stuff like that
8:50
yeah we didn't go into
8:53
um yeah but basically we have all of
8:56
that a lot of the laws are in the state
8:58
exams and the national exams but it's
9:00
one of those things where
9:02
um you just got to learn them right okay
9:05
and then see what else is there so
9:07
that's that's pretty much pretty much it
9:09
so
9:10
um so the next question is what is the
9:13
future of real estate license wizard
9:15
well in the meantime you're stuck with
9:17
us sorry yeah
9:20
um but we are actively looking for
9:22
someone to take over that channel so if
9:24
you are really interested in real estate
9:26
you've got your real estate license or
9:28
even taking the test a few times uh
9:30
because obviously we have all sorts of
9:32
materials to support you although having
9:34
a real estate license obviously is
9:35
preferred because you're going to be
9:36
teaching material
9:38
um then reach out to us right because
9:40
again while we're not YouTubers we have
9:42
experience obviously I have a lot of
9:44
experience entering in all the data and
9:47
programming this stuff but um you know
9:49
this isn't my full-time thing but we're
9:51
looking for someone to make it their
9:53
full-time thing or maybe even a
9:54
part-time thing so if that's you let us
9:56
know and other than that let us know in
9:58
the comments below how we did yeah
10:00
seriously how does it feel about your
10:02
first YouTube video I still feel like
10:04
it's real like are we really on YouTube
10:06
right now that's how I feel yeah let us
10:08
know in all honesty because no hard
10:10
feelings we can only get better so yeah
10:13
yeah yeah hopefully there's sound with
10:15
this maybe we'll upload it hopefully
10:17
we're not lagging and it's just like
10:18
looks funny so anyways but yeah we
10:21
appreciate you uh joining us today and
10:23
we will see you in the next video if
10:25
there's anything that you're interested
10:26
in learning about uh let us know in the
10:28
comments and uh we'll make sure that we
10:30
come up with something that's more uh I
10:33
guess formal but uh today we just kind
10:35
of want to introduce ourselves and cover
10:37
it that's good
10:41
is that like because nothing's textbook
10:44
yeah maybe formal wasn't the right I'm
10:46
saying we didn't really this is more off
10:48
the cuff right we printed out something
10:50
we said hey guys give us some
10:52
information what are you interested in
10:53
so this is an easy one but if you're
10:55
saying hey we really need help on this
10:57
law let us know and we'll dig into that
10:59
law for you or whatever you're
11:01
struggling with okay so have a wonderful
11:03
day and uh we'll see you in maybe next
11:06
week yeah that will be great yeah all
11:09
right bye
