Hey guys, prepared to wander in the man cave today
0:24
Well it's stinking hot and raining again in Ohio and I just cannot seem to find time
0:32
to get outside to do what I want to do. So I'm going to shoot another video inside
0:37
I apologize, I cannot wait for summer to be over with and fall to get here
0:43
That is the time that I like to go out and hike and camp and shoot video
0:50
So what I got planned for tonight is I got some new products in from a new manufacturer
0:56
that I'm working with and I want to show them to you and just do a little quick kind of
1:02
tabletop review and see what you guys think. So stick around, we're going to get into it, it should be interesting
1:09
Alright here it is, as promised, new gear and what we're going to be looking at is some
1:16
haversacks and some organizational pouches from a new company that I'm working with called
1:21
Sputnik Gear. Now unusual name right, Sputnik Gear, well they're from the Ukraine of all places and
1:30
this is not the first Ukrainian company I've worked with. If you remember correctly I did a couple videos ago of a concealed carry bag that was from
1:40
another Ukrainian maker. I get a lot of requests from different makers and companies and I turn a lot down but every
1:49
once in a while something comes up and I go yeah I think the channel will like this, I
1:53
think it's quality gear and I was not wrong. When I got this stuff in I was really impressed with the quality
2:01
You know it's hard to tell on film but this stuff is made from quality materials
2:07
I believe the bags are 500D Cordura and then they are double lined so there is two layers
2:17
of fabric on the bags and on the pouches. So let's look at them real quick
2:22
Now first of all the naming designation on these is a little strange, I think these are
2:29
the Bobby Lee Haversacks, this is their historic EDC line that they call it
2:36
They're kind of based off of Civil War Haversacks. One is the Mark 1 and I believe the other one is the Mark 3
2:44
This is the Mark 1 from my understanding, this is the Mark 3
2:48
Check out their website, link is down below so you can get all the right names, designations
2:54
prices all that stuff. The Mark 1 is a more simple Haversack in the fact that it is just a pocket
3:06
So you open it up, nice brightly colored interior, you can see there
3:18
Look inside, nice and bright, one simple pocket. No organization to it, no dividers or anything like that, just one big open envelope style
3:34
pouch or pocket. And that's it. There is adjustability in the shoulder strap, you can see right there
3:43
There is a buckle for that, that does adjust down. The sewing on this is really good, it's very neat
3:58
They're using box stitching down here, you can see to secure this strap
4:04
There is a reinforcing strap on the back here that the actual shoulder strap is sewn into
4:12
So this thing is not going to fall apart. This is by no means a cheap overseas piece of junk
4:19
This is a custom nylon gear maker right up to snuff with the guys here in the United
4:29
States that are making custom nylon stuff. I see a lot of this stuff, I compare it all the time, so I can say this with confidence
4:38
this is quality made. So this is the Mark 1, and this is in kind of a coyote tan with coyote tan webbing
4:47
Now we get into Mark 3. Mark 3 is in this kind of blue gray material
4:58
I like the color, it's pretty cool. It's got the coyote trim and coyote buckle
5:05
Same reinforcing on the back, same strap, same single buckle design
5:16
But that's kind of where it ends, because when you get into this thing, it has a lot
5:20
more organization. And as you can see, there is a zipper that actually closes off the whole pouch
5:28
So not only do you have a flap, but you have a zipper as well
5:34
So we've got this zipper pouch in the back that runs the entire depth and width of the
5:45
haversack itself. See that? In here I've got a bandana, small grill, plenty of room for larger items
5:57
Definitely enough room if you're doing EDC and you want to do maybe an iPad or something
6:00
like that, that'll fit back in there, small notebook, whatever. On the inside there is another zipper pouch down here, and it's slightly smaller, but
6:17
still very deep. Got a small tarp in there. And then the main compartment has, and this is going to be kind of hard to show you guys
6:30
because we can't really get inside this bag easily to show it
6:36
See if there's slip pockets. There's one, two, and then on the front of the bag, three, four
6:48
So you have four slip pockets on the inside. Okay? One, two, three, four
6:54
That makes sense. Now the deal with this kind of bag is that since it is an envelope style, you're not
7:10
going to get as much stuff in it as you would, let's say, a thicker or wider haversack
7:20
So if you're going to use this in the traditional sense of a haversack for out bushcrafting
7:26
you're definitely going to have to pare down what you bring and really be cognizant of
7:33
what you're doing with this thing because it's going to be easy to overload it
7:39
It's not going to fit, obviously, big water bottles. So just as a size comparison, here's an Algene, pretty standard water bottle that most people carry
7:53
I have a lot of them. I use them. They fit pretty well because it's short. Now if you get into a more, like a 32 ounce Algene, the round kind, it's not going to
8:02
fit as well. It's going to be bulky. It's going to be hard to pack stuff
8:07
Probably where this thing would excel is if you had your water bottle kit in a different
8:14
kit or bag and carried that separately. What I think this would be good for is, particularly in this model, is this would be a great pack
8:25
to fold up, roll up, and throw this in a larger bag so that when you get to camp you can pull
8:36
this out and deploy it and then use it for a walkabout in the woods and collecting materials
8:41
or whatever. And then using those organizational pouches that they make, throwing your different kits
8:47
in there. So this would be good for that. This bag, I think, really probably is more suited towards urban EDC than bushcrafting
9:00
You do both. I mean, it's just how you pack what you'd like to take
9:04
I tend to take a lot of stuff. I like the 10C's or the 5C's at the minimum plus
9:12
So this gets a little tight for that. But for urban EDC, I think for flat items like notebooks, iPads, pens, pencils, paperwork
9:22
stuff like that, it's going to work pretty well. Dimensions on the bag
9:29
This is running about 13 inches wide by about 11 1⁄2 tall
9:41
So 13 by 11 1⁄2. Pretty decent size. Other haversacks, same way
9:49
So there's the haversack. Pouches. They sent me several
10:02
We've got this blue-gray color and then we have the coyote color
10:08
There's basically three sizes. There is a small, see that, medium, and then a larger one
10:23
Dimensions on these, the large is 9 1⁄2 by 6 1⁄2
10:34
Medium is 8 by 5. And then the small is a 5 by 4
10:48
So nicely made pouches, just like the haversack, really made well. They have these really cool 550 cord pull or grab handles
11:00
I love that. Nice lightweight feature. Doesn't take up a lot of room
11:04
Not bulky. The tan pouches are a single layer of material, so they're a little bit lighter
11:16
But these blue pouches are actually double material. So they've got the blue-gray on the outside and then the tan on the inside
11:26
I don't know if there's a price difference on that. I assume there would be
11:29
I'm not sure why they do that. So they are different. So when you're looking at the website and if you're going to order something, you want
11:37
to make sure you order the ones that you want. I like both of them
11:42
I prefer these because they're a little bit more lightweight and they're less bulky because
11:47
they don't have the double material. But they both function the same as an organizational pouch and they are extremely well made, just
11:57
like the haversack. So no worries there. Now as far as what you can fit in these things, right now I've got a little first aid kit
12:10
in this one. The medium size one I was able to fit all my fire making stuff in there very easily
12:19
And this big one was big enough to actually do a food bag just for like a day trip
12:23
So you know, put some ramen in there, some spam, coffee, sugar, hot sauce, my spoon
12:30
it all fit in there very easily. No problems. So definitely a good organizational option for you
12:40
One thing you're probably going to want to know is how this thing fits and how much adjustability
12:46
you have in the strap. So with this strap, I've got this thing pretty much fully extended and it's sitting right
12:55
at my waistline. So not bad. I'm six foot one. I've had other bags that have not been long enough
13:04
This is plenty long enough. Nice thing about this is, is you can flip this around and carry it on your back, which
13:16
is a lot of times what I do with a haversack because that way I can access my knife or
13:21
other stuff that I have on my belt. And then also this helps control the load a little bit, so it's a little more comfortable
13:28
and it doesn't flop around as much. So this haversack fits really nicely in that sweet spot on the middle of my back towards
13:37
my hip. Plenty of adjustability. Fits pretty well. All right guys, that's it for today's video
13:48
I want to thank Sputnik Gear for sending me this stuff. Very nice of them to do so
13:52
Please check them out on Instagram. Check out their website, link is down below
13:58
They sell a lot more than just this haversack, by the way, and these bags
14:02
They have some really nice backpacks that I've been looking at. Some unique features and designs for sure
14:12
And if the quality is anything like this stuff, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised
14:17
So they're definitely another option out there for you to check out
14:21
And it's always great to check out new and different manufacturers from around the world
14:28
And it's just awesome that Sputnik Gear sought me out and asked me to do this
14:33
I appreciate it. As always, please like, subscribe, and share. That helps out the channel
14:40
Make sure you check out the links down below for Amazon Store and the Facebook group, which
14:47
is growing very large and is a lot of fun. And then my Instagram page, which also has a lot of extra content in there as well
14:54
So all these things help out the channel, help me out, and I appreciate it
