I wanted to show you a new product that I just got from Lost Wild Outdoors
0:28
This is the Universal Cup Lid. Rob over at Lost Wild sent this to me to check it out and to do a little video review on it
0:39
You're probably wondering, okay, it's a cup lid, why do we need a review on it
0:45
It's really the first cup lid that I've seen on the market that is universal
0:52
There's not that many cup lids that you can actually buy that will fit all the different
0:57
types of cups that are out there, nesting cups for camping. This is something a little different and it's definitely a new product on the market
1:07
I want to show this thing to you guys and see what you think about it
1:11
We're going to get into it, so stay tuned. This is my little cup kit that I carry in my Maxpedition Jumbo Pack
1:22
This is just for day hikes. It's big enough that I can cook coffee in it or even heat up lunch like ramen
1:30
What I do is I use that cup with the old German Esbit stove and it works great
1:40
It's a great combination. One thing that has always been missing and lacking for this cup has been a good lid
1:47
The cup I'm using is an OlliCamp. This is their 22 oz cup and it's aluminum
1:59
It doesn't come with a lid but it's a great cup. It's lightweight, it has measurements on the inside, I love the handles on it
2:05
I've always been searching for a lid for this thing. Now of course you can easily make a lid for your cup, that's not a problem
2:14
You can do that out of a baking sheet, cutting that down and putting a knob on it
2:20
The problem is that a lot of us have more than one style of cup in our kits
2:25
We have maybe different types of cups and having a lid that fits a variety of those
2:30
cups is kind of an issue. Like I said before, there are so many different types of cups on the market
2:36
There's the OlliCamp, there's the GSI that comes in two sizes now, there's the knockoff
2:42
that you find at Walmart that's stainless steel, and a few others
2:48
Having a lid that fits all those different cups is really a benefit and it's such a low
2:55
cost item that it almost puts it to the point of like why even make one, I can just go ahead
3:01
and order this and throw this in my basket next time I'm shopping at Lost Wild Outdoors
3:10
So what they've done is to make this more universal. They've put this interior depression, you can see that, and it's a lot smaller than
3:22
the opening of the cup, but not too much smaller so it still fits
3:27
So that way it's going to fit into a variety of cups. It doesn't matter what the lip is, how the lip is designed on the cup because the lip
3:35
styles are different on a lot of these cups. There can be slight variation in size of these even though they're meant to be nesting cups
3:43
and fit under a bottle, there still is slight variation. Some are a little bit tighter, some are a little bit looser
3:52
So this lid negates all of that and fits nicely and still creates a pretty decent seal on
4:01
the cup. Another nice feature of this little lid is that they've put this little raised tab right
4:08
here and I think what I'm going to do with mine, I'm going to put a split ring on this
4:14
that way I have a way of hanging or picking up the lid easier with a stick or my spoon
4:21
I can't hang it because the lid's not going to lock to the cup, but I can be able to pick
4:27
it up a little bit easier than just using this tab. So that's one modification I'm going to do
4:33
Stainless steel construction, fairly robust, does not bend in any way. I can't get this thing to bend, it's solid
4:45
So it's a really nice lid. What I'm going to do is I'm going to heat up some coffee on my Espit stove and use the
4:53
cup and I'll just show you how this thing looks on the cup
5:33
Alright guys, thanks for watching and as always, please like, subscribe and share and
5:53
we will see you next time on the Prepared Wanderer
