I'm going to go get some more firewood
0:30
I'm going to go get some more firewood. I'm going to go get some more firewood
1:30
I got some tuna and some ramen in there. I'm using the stainless steel bottle from Clean Canteen
2:07
That is an Ollie Cup anodized aluminum. It nests really nice on the water bottle
2:17
It also nests on the stainless steel cup. Alright, I'm going to try to do a review real quick because my camera phone keeps shutting
2:27
down because it's so freaking cold. So, today's review is the Hidden Woodsman Possible Pouch
2:34
You're probably thinking, okay, why a pouch? It's the big deal. Well, what I like about this thing is besides it being made in the USA and made by Malcolm
2:45
you know, a small business owner, he sews these things all by himself
2:50
It's just the design of it. It's really well made. It's got a great shape to it
2:55
Let me put that down. It's got a really nice shape to it and it really holds the contents of my possibles
3:04
without a lot of stuff shifting around. Some other pouches just aren't big enough or they're just kind of a weird shape and
3:11
they don't hold things really well. And this pouch really does a great job of that
3:15
So, it's really not, you know, a survival kit or a fire kit or anything like that
3:22
What it is to me is it's all the things that I need to take with me on a trip
3:27
either at a day trip or an overnighter. And it's always the same items
3:31
These things never leave the bag unless they're being used and they're always replaced
3:35
So, it's items that I'm going to need in camp that I may forget or, you know
3:43
just don't have with me or whatever. So, what I want to do is I want to kind of show you what's inside this kit
3:48
what I carry in it, and we'll kind of look at some of the features of the pouch itself
3:53
So, stay tuned. Okay, so what do I keep in this pouch
3:57
Like I said, it's going to be things that I'm always going to need. It doesn't really matter if I'm on a day hike or an overnighter
4:04
This is stuff that I need. First thing, a couple hanks of Bankline, great for camp projects, inexpensive
4:12
Butane lighter that's been zip-tied so it doesn't discharge in the bag
4:17
DMT diamond sharpener. This is the fine and extra fine that I use this on axes and my knives
4:27
Works great. Good beefy fire steel. Pocket bellows, which is great for getting a kind of marginal fire going or a bed of coals going into a fire
4:42
A 50 cord, always lots of uses for that. A Matchcap XL with waterproof matches
4:54
AAA batteries. And that's, of course, for my Princeton Tech Fuel headlamp
5:04
Some Gorilla Tape. Hidden Woodsman signal panel, which I primarily use for fire prep
5:11
I put my prep on this, but it's also nice to use as a signal panel if needed
5:15
And I've done a video on this, so I'll put a link down below on that
5:20
And then just a little added fire starter. This is cotton balls soaked in petroleum jelly
5:26
These things always light up. They burn a long time. They're cheap, so they're great to have in your bag
5:33
So that's the contents of my kit. It's just necessity items. And it's really not focused on survival or anything like that
5:43
But there's some fire making stuff. There's some tool maintenance. There's some repair gear
5:49
There's some illumination, some batteries. So it's the things that I'm going to need if I'm out in the field
5:56
And the nice thing about this Hidden Woodsman pouch is that with this grab handle
6:03
it makes it really easy just to slide down into my haversack, take that out, add it to my day pack
6:07
take that out, add it to my bigger overnight ruck. And it's always with me, so I don't have to worry about, did I bring this, did I not bring it
6:16
It's a great item. So definitely check out Malcolm's website and see the stuff that he makes
6:20
He makes awesome items. Okay, so this is the shelter area that I go to and do some of my filming
6:30
This is my little camp area I got set up down here. Of course there's the bellow bean cut in a rucksack and the Hidden Woodsman possibles pouch
6:38
And then today I'm using the Stanley Adventure cook set with my Trangia alcohol stove
6:46
Because I really didn't want to spend a lot of time making a fire today because it's so cold
6:50
I just wanted to cook some lunch up and do some recording
6:55
And then my little table right there. It's just a stump that's been split in half
7:00
It makes a nice little area to put stuff. Some of the remnants of my lunch
7:06
And then this shelter, this is something I started working on this summer and there's a video on it
7:12
And I didn't complete it because it was so dang hot and it was an exhausting process
7:17
But what I want to do is I want to finish this thing and pile some more sticks and some bark on top
7:24
Take all this dead fall, all these leaves and start gathering those
7:28
And make a nice debris shelter with this because I think it would really help cut the wind
7:33
Alright guys that's it for today. Thanks for watching. I'm going to clear out of here. It is freaking cold
7:38
That wind is just whipping like crazy. And I'm having all kinds of camera problems with the phone today because of the cold
7:47
So I will see you next time on The Prepared Wanderer. The Prepared Wanderer
