0:00
so today's objective is to hit these
0:03
woods and scout out some spots that I
0:06
can uh do some potential stealth camping
0:10
and um maybe set up like a
0:13
semi-permanent uh Camp spot that I can
0:16
go to and do
0:34
so that's what I'm out to do today and
0:37
as promised I am out in the weather
0:40
doing it it's like 17° this morning um
0:45
but it's supposed to be a sunny uh
0:47
beautiful day actually warm up to the
0:48
40s hopefully um but the other thing is
0:52
I'm going to be taking along um some of
0:55
my gear that I've showed in earlier
0:59
videos and I'm going to be also carrying
1:01
my um AR-15
1:04
rifle um that I showed in my last video
1:08
and uh hopefully just get used to
1:11
carrying it more in the woods with my
1:14
gear and we'll go through everything
1:16
that I'm going to be doing today so so
1:17
let's get out and do it
1:23
[Applause]
1:46
hiking when it's 17° out carrying all
1:50
this
1:51
gear it sucks of course
1:57
but got to do it
2:00
got to figure this out
2:19
[Applause]
2:29
[Applause]
2:54
[Applause]
3:09
[Applause]
3:13
seeing this this massive oak tree came
3:17
down this year I haven't been back here
3:20
in a long time and
3:22
um I didn't know this
3:24
happened this thing is
3:27
huge but it's c creting a nice
3:30
opportunity to
3:33
shelter for me
3:36
but there's some issues with this
3:39
area this will not be a good spot for
3:42
stealth camping because there are two
3:45
many access points to it so over
3:50
there that's top of a reservoir and that
3:54
Reservoir has a trail on top of it and
3:57
people will come out and walk it in nice
4:00
weather and I've even seen guys with
4:03
their hunting dogs up there training
4:05
taking them for runs and walks up there
4:08
and
4:10
then over
4:12
there is a trail in and that
4:15
trail um is accessible from a road um
4:20
it's not very far uh not
4:24
even an eighth of a mile probably less
4:27
than that so it's it's a pretty quick in
4:30
andout for people um a lot of
4:35
the deer hunters so-call deer hunters
4:39
Who come out here thinking they can get
4:42
out here easily will come out here and
4:44
sit and of course not get anything
4:46
because it's it's a hight traffic area
4:48
so this is not going to be suitable for
4:50
stealth camp but it's a good spot to at
4:53
least get out here and walk a little bit
4:56
um with my gear and check it out and
4:59
just check it off the list so I think
5:02
what we'll do is we'll sit down and um
5:05
I'll take you through some of the
5:07
equipment I'm carrying today and talk
5:09
about uh why I'm carrying it so someone
5:13
made a comment on one of my short videos
5:16
where I showed some of this gear that
5:17
I'm carrying today and they're like oh
5:19
that's all new and um yeah a lot of it
5:22
is actually and uh some of it isn't a
5:25
lot of the stuff that I carry in my pack
5:28
things that I use all the time time I've
5:30
had for years and I use all the time but
5:34
um some of this outer gear that I'm
5:35
wearing and carrying today is new and
5:38
the whole deal is I got this stuff and I
5:42
want to use it and um you
5:45
know how do you start well you just
5:47
start going out with it and using it so
5:49
I make no apologies for that you got to
5:52
start somewhere and I've been really
5:54
fortunate um in being able to get some
5:58
cool gear from guys guys who make really
6:00
cool stuff so today I'm rocking a lot of
6:03
Full Tang tactical um not the cheapest
6:06
option out there for sure but it's all
6:07
made in USA uh it's a family-owned
6:09
company small business and they make
6:12
exceptional tactical nylon gear that can
6:15
be utilized for um Woods running hiking
6:20
fly fishing hunting and um even training
6:24
like on days like this so I've got their
6:26
low viz chess pack um and then I have a
6:31
prototype of the Minuteman pack U the
6:34
minute man pack has changed slightly but
6:37
this is very close to what they're
6:39
selling right now this is just the
6:40
Prototype I actually traded into that
6:43
and I'm pretty satisfied with it so far
6:46
carries very comfortably it's about a 32
6:48
L pack and I've got a lot of gear in it
6:52
um and I think on a winter day like this
6:54
you definitely need to carry a lot of
6:56
gear with you uh in case something
6:58
happens and that's what I'm kind of set
7:01
up for um jacket is uh this is a cotton
7:06
blend anarak I think these were made in
7:08
the 9s they don't really make them
7:10
anymore I picked it up on the secondary
7:12
Market I've had them before and they're
7:14
fantastic wind shells um and then I just
7:17
underneath that I have a heavy um
7:19
Cabella's uh wool shirt and of course
7:22
I'm wearing
7:24
thermals um and then boots are just you
7:28
know rubber hunting boots boots
7:30
insulated that's what I normally wear
7:32
when I'm out in the woods and it's going
7:34
to warm up today so it's going to get
7:35
wet so I want my rubber
7:38
boots so let's talk about this fella I
7:41
just did a video um where I went through
7:43
this rifle this is um a PSA midlength
7:46
now I'm running 10 round mags on it and
7:49
you're probably wondering why why why am
7:51
I not carrying 30 round mags and and
7:53
have my chest rig full um one main
7:57
reason is that
8:00
um I'm out in an area that um I can hunt
8:04
on and coyote hunting is open it's
8:07
always open you can use any caliber and
8:11
I just feel that if I'm carrying 10
8:12
round mags maybe it's a little less it's
8:15
a little less tactical or military um if
8:18
I do encounter a game warden or you know
8:23
someone else at least I've got a 10
8:25
round mag and I'm carrying two 10 round
8:27
mags on my waist pack as well so I got
8:30
30 rounds total so this is not um like a
8:33
combat load out for sure um this is just
8:36
a scouting um setup for today and that's
8:40
why I'm carrying only 10 round mags in
8:42
plus I've got my bipod installed so if I
8:46
was to set up and do like coyote hunting
8:49
I could you know be able to shoot from
8:52
my bipod with a 10 round mag and not
8:54
have that 30 round mag interfering with
8:56
it so that is the
8:58
philosophy that's why I'm doing what I'm
9:00
doing
9:03
um hopefully that makes sense uh okay
9:06
here's the contents of my pack all kind
9:07
of laid out and I'm going to go through
9:09
this real quickly because this is not
9:12
necessarily Gear review video but I
9:14
think it's helpful for people to see um
9:18
what I'm carrying for this kind of
9:21
weather um in this activity level so
9:26
first thing everything is sitting on the
9:29
this material right here and this is a
9:31
German um issue ground cloth it's called
9:35
the elephant skin it's really heavy duty
9:38
durable this is a new one I just got
9:39
this one I have several of these in my
9:42
kits and I'm upgrading and got a new one
9:46
for this this upcoming year and it makes
9:49
an excellent ground cloth to sleep on
9:51
and put your gear on um in this bag
9:55
we've got an extra t-shirt and some
9:57
socks
9:59
I've got my Bako Lap Lander always a
10:03
fantastic saw to carry very durable much
10:06
less flexible than the
10:09
silkies here I've got a um max Edition
10:13
pouch this is basically just all my
10:15
posses so I've got fir making gear in
10:17
here and water purification tablets and
10:20
stuff like that Ferro Rod there's a buck
10:24
honing steel whistle fire
10:26
Bellows uh Tinder Mini signal mirror
10:30
some exotac gear that's the sewing kit
10:33
that's the
10:35
lighter sleeve and that there's the
10:38
waterproof matches so nice little kit
10:41
it's a little bit redundant because I'm
10:43
actually carrying a fanny pack that has
10:45
all about the same stuff in it um so
10:47
I'll probably get rid of that and then
10:49
we have bungee cords for setting up a
10:52
shelter uh some Bank line um excellent
10:56
piece of gear this is the um
10:59
the mini spool from uh Atwood I think
11:04
that's 50 ft a paracord and it's got a
11:06
built-in cutter and then it has a
11:08
compartment for a
11:11
lighter food
11:14
items
11:16
coffee
11:18
cookies spam
11:21
hydration stuff uh fire Maple pot um I
11:26
did a review of this a while ago this is
11:28
their it's a stove so got a little
11:31
aluminum pot with a stove and then I got
11:35
a single meal um for mountain
11:39
house here um this is an insulating
11:42
layer this is a wubby
11:44
jacket in Woodland camo I think that's
11:47
the the
11:49
Zulu brand that I got that one and then
11:54
my USMC
11:56
tarp um and then
12:02
there's the Old Hickory
12:06
machete pretty decent tool good for
12:09
clearing
12:12
brush and then I have a Ghillie for my
12:16
pack in multicam
12:18
Tropic two Swiss cantens one with the
12:21
aluminum
12:23
cup some staks with paracord on the
12:27
ends gloves I just picked these up uh
12:30
this week actually I got these at Harbor
12:32
Freight uh they've been pretty cool I
12:35
like them they're durable they seem to
12:36
be durable they're holding up pretty
12:37
well and they're
12:39
warm so I'm wearing those and then the
12:42
pack on the bottom here this is
12:45
camouflage netting material I got this
12:47
at Walmart or some sporting good store
12:50
it's usually they sell this around
12:51
turkey season but it's um it's basically
12:53
like a big piece of ghilly material it's
12:56
very lightweight and I just got that
12:58
strapped to the bottom of my pack in
12:59
case I want to set up like an
13:01
observation post or do some stealth
13:03
camping um hide my position cover my
13:06
gear um cover myself if I'm hunting I
13:10
can do that so it's so
13:12
lightweight and it straps perfectly to
13:15
the bottom of my pack and then there's
13:18
the pack that's the Full Tang tactical a
13:21
minute man 32 L this is the Prototype on
13:25
the front I've got a USMC ass salt pouch
13:28
and a milspec monkey
13:31
admin this prototype has side water
13:34
bottle Pockets that I had to modify a
13:36
little bit but the new version doesn't
13:38
have that so um I think it's a great
13:40
feature I kind of like it those quick
13:43
access water bottle pockets are
13:46
nice other favorite piece of gear which
13:48
I was actually sitting on is my tough
13:50
posum sitting pad um it's got the orange
13:53
side so I can use it for hunting or as a
13:56
an Emergency Signal panel um
13:59
but in the winter
14:01
time you got to have something to sit on
14:05
or to kneel on or you're going to be
14:07
sucking bad because the ground is so
14:10
cold full tank tactical LZ chest rig um
14:14
I'm not carrying 30 round mags in it
14:16
because I'm carrying the 10 Rounds today
14:17
and they don't fit in there um but I've
14:20
went through this
14:21
before on one my earlier
14:26
videos but this is basically just up for
14:29
admin so mini
14:31
binoculars um map
14:34
pouch um tough possum notebook wallet
14:39
which I just got this year from him
14:42
pretty
14:43
cool Ranger Green 500 D
14:46
Cordura um got my compass in here
14:50
headlamp some markers got a green
14:54
light got some glow sticks and re
14:59
glasses then my keys to my truck so um
15:02
it's not a ton of stuff but it's those
15:05
little admin things that you want to get
15:06
access to quickly when you're out in the
15:08
field uh a chest pouch or rig um really
15:13
is the way to
15:15
go and then the last piece of gear that
15:18
I carry is this is a um um a hip pack
15:21
from
15:22
AAC and it's very simple and I like it
15:25
um because it carries everything I need
15:27
so it's got a tourniquet holder on
15:29
bottom and then a front pouch or pocket
15:33
right there but the cool thing
15:35
is the back of it comes with this um
15:39
insert and it's perfect for these 10
15:42
round mags that I'm carrying so if
15:46
you're maybe you have a 308 bolt gun or
15:51
you know you're doing some target
15:53
shooting this pack is perfect for
15:55
carrying those smaller mags it'll hold
15:57
30 rounders too but they just stick up
15:59
farther but um this sets really low on
16:02
my waist and really doesn't get in the
16:04
way but but on the inside this is all
16:07
the um I guess what I would call
16:09
survival items and actually it's very
16:11
redundant with that other kit so I'm
16:12
probably going to take that other kit
16:13
out of my bag because I don't need it
16:15
but this has a signal panel um fire
16:20
making capability signal mirror whistle
16:23
there's a space blanket in there uh
16:25
different types of fire starting
16:27
materials signaling materials so it's
16:29
basically an E&E kit escape and evasion
16:32
type kit um so if I have to dump my pack
16:35
or leave it someplace or go scouting I
16:37
can just carry this and still have all
16:39
those kind of little survival Essentials
16:41
that you
16:42
need um and then that with my chest rig
16:46
um I'm pretty well
16:47
set so I'm going to walk around a little
16:51
bit more and see if I can find a better
16:53
spot um but essentially for this video I
16:56
think um I've covered enough at least uh
16:58
this is like
16:59
the basis for what I'm going to be doing
17:01
this year carrying a lot of this
17:04
equipment um utilizing in the field
17:07
setting up
17:09
shelter cooking um setting up different
17:13
uh types of camps or hide spots um and
17:17
then just carrying the rifle out with me
17:19
as much as I can um without attracting
17:22
too much attention and um just covering
17:24
this area more and trying to figure it
17:27
out better so I have a better
17:28
understanding of it that way if I need
17:30
to utilize it um I'm ready to go if you
17:33
like this kind of content I will give a
17:35
little plug here this is the time that
17:37
you need to subscribe and like and hit
17:39
Bell notifications and all that good
17:41
stuff also check out my affiliate links
17:43
down below there's a Facebook group with
17:46
more content like this and from other
17:49
people and um as always thanks so much
17:52
for watching my videos go back in my
17:54
library check them out been doing this
17:56
for a long time and have a lot of videos
17:58
all kinds of different stuff Bushcraft
18:00
survival gear reviews and um I think
18:03
2025 is going to be awesome because
18:06
we're going to be doing more cool stuff
18:08
like this so thanks for watching and
18:10
we'll see you next time on the prepared
18:16
Wanderer all right so a after action
18:19
report for today
18:22
um most of the equipment performed fine
18:26
didn't have any issues the pack carries
18:29
very comfortably I need to just uh take
18:33
a few things out but other than that I'm
18:35
pretty satisfied with how it carries um
18:38
it's of course carrying um a pack
18:42
wearing a chest rig uh heavy layers for
18:46
winter plus a rifle on top of that um is
18:49
cumbersome and uh sometimes it was
18:53
difficult to get things on and off and I
18:55
you know I felt like I was bumbling
18:57
around a little bit but that's that's
18:59
part of it right trying to figure that
19:00
stuff out and getting used to it
19:03
becoming smoother um in the field with
19:06
your gear uh and the only way you do
19:08
that is actually getting out and doing
19:10
it um one thing about the rifle that I
19:13
noticed carrying today that I did not
19:16
like is um scope caps
19:20
suck uh they are stupid they keep
19:23
opening up when I don't want them to
19:24
open up they keep getting uh like caught
19:26
on my chest rig and then they pop open
19:29
um so I don't know I don't know what the
19:32
appropriate protocol for that is
19:35
probably remove
19:36
them and then maybe I need to figure out
19:40
how to do like the like a kill flash on
19:42
the front uh part of the scope the
19:47
sling with gear with all the gear the
19:50
pack and chest rig and and the layers
19:53
seemed a little tight and a little
19:55
cumbersome hard to get in and out of um
19:58
I don't know I need to look at maybe
20:00
doing a different setup on the sling
20:02
maybe it's a different sling it's not
20:04
it's not a super expensive sling by any
20:06
means it's a cheap one um but I like the
20:27
style all
