0:00
in today's video I'm going to tell you
0:02
10 reasons why I love to camp stick
0:14
right so I'm out here camping um in
0:16
Alageney National Forest this weekend
0:19
with some friends and I thought it'd be
0:21
a great opportunity to talk to you guys
0:25
about one of the reasons that I love to
0:31
uh why I wanted to make the video is
0:34
because every time um I go out camping
0:37
and I tell people that I'm going to be
0:41
um they always have this kind of puzzled
0:44
look on their face like um I'm insane
0:47
and then you know they always ask "Oh so
0:49
you probably have a a camper right?" No
0:54
where do you sleep at well I sleep in my
0:56
hammock or on the ground under a tarp or
1:02
tent and then the the the look on their
1:06
face becomes just pure disgust
1:12
modern civilized people um these days
1:16
don't seem to like to to camp anymore
1:19
they find it uncomfortable
1:21
and I've been camping my whole life and
1:24
it's something I don't ever see giving
1:26
up not this type of camping anyway until
1:29
I can't physically do it so I wanted to
1:32
share with you guys 10 reasons why I
1:34
love to camp and what I think makes
1:37
camping such a great experience for
1:39
people and I wish more people would do
1:40
it in no particular order here's the
1:44
list so number 10 uh getting outside in
1:48
nature is such a big deal i mean look at
1:51
this place it is gorgeous the sun is
1:53
rising there's a woodpecker in the
1:55
background the trees are beautiful it's
1:58
everything's starting to green up so
2:00
just getting back to nature um is a big
2:03
deal for me at least it really recharges
2:07
batteries number nine the food i love
2:10
cooking at home and cooking outside is
2:14
uh such a process it takes a little bit
2:16
longer it takes a little bit more
2:18
planning sometimes and of course the
2:20
flavor is just so amazing with the smoke
2:24
um you know I love grilling meat or
2:28
cooking up something over a fire and and
2:31
sharing it with friends is is awesome
2:34
number eight sleeping outside uh there
2:38
is something about sleeping outside that
2:40
is just um fantastic like last night um
2:44
I'm in my hammock and there's an owl um
2:48
above me in the tree that my hammock is
2:50
on and he's calling and um I mean you
2:54
can't buy that right and that experience
2:58
is awesome but also I feel like
3:01
sometimes I sleep better um more soundly
3:04
uh when I'm camping just because I'm so
3:06
much more relaxed and then of course you
3:09
know the cool breeze and the stars and
3:12
the quiet um it it's just uh I can't
3:17
explain it just it's such a great
3:19
experience um better than sleeping at
3:38
number seven camaraderie um camaraderie
3:41
is a big part of camping for me because
3:43
a lot of times I camp with friends and
3:46
it's a chance for us to come together um
3:48
maybe we haven't seen each other for a
3:50
while like this group of guys that I'm
3:51
out with this weekend we haven't been
3:53
together um for a year and um which is
3:57
way too long but you know when we get
3:59
together it's just like old times and we
4:02
sit around the campfire and tell stories
4:04
and joke and bust on each other and um
4:07
it's I love it it's just uh I feel a lot
4:10
lighter when I get home it's it's very
4:13
um I don't know it's therapeutic for
4:16
sure just to sit around and laugh with
4:18
some good friends there's a collection
4:19
of about 20 kids i'm like "This is
4:24
Number six travel the whole um uh
4:28
process of travel has always been
4:31
exciting for me started that you know
4:33
with my parents they would take me out
4:35
on on these trips all the time to go
4:37
visit family or to go to different
4:40
cities and explore um and you know they
4:43
throw me in the back of the Omobile give
4:45
me some snacks maybe we'd stop at
4:47
McDonald's do something cool like that
4:49
so um the process of travel and going to
4:53
new places or even going to places that
4:56
I've already been um is really exciting
4:58
you know jumping in my truck stopping at
5:00
the gas station picking up some snacks
5:02
throwing on my tunes and just driving uh
5:07
I love that whole process always have
5:09
and I always will number five uh the
5:12
physical activity of camping
5:15
um is refreshing for sure just coming
5:17
out and you know having having to carry
5:21
your stuff to your campsite setting up
5:24
your stuff um cutting
5:27
wood you know sometimes uh work is at a
5:31
desk and coming home you're tired and
5:34
worn out and you just want to sit down
5:36
and watch TV and relax and so the
5:39
opportunity to be outside in the fresh
5:41
air and getting some physical activity
5:44
um is is awesome i love it i wish I did
5:48
it more but um that's a very big part of
5:50
camping is just um being able to get out
5:53
here and move around and you know be um
5:58
be on your feet moving around and doing
6:00
stuff with your hands i love that whole
6:02
aspect of it next is the gear i mean who
6:06
doesn't love gear right i love gear um I
6:09
love messing around with different types
6:11
of tents and tarps um trying out
6:14
different knives that I've I've picked
6:16
up along the way um of course that's a
6:19
big part of my channel is testing that
6:21
kind of stuff out um and you know going
6:24
out on the weekends at home is so much
6:28
different than it is coming out here
6:29
because out here this is like this is
6:31
like laboratory right number three is
6:34
self-reliance there is um something very
6:37
satisfying about being able to do things
6:39
with your hands and take care of
6:41
yourself um you know that gets back of
6:44
course once again to uh starting a fire
6:47
cutting wood uh setting up a shelter um
6:51
just taking care of yourself and um
6:53
being able to do that unsupported
6:56
um without a lot of modern conveniences
6:59
with simple tools um and uh there's a
7:02
lot of also a lot of problem solving at
7:05
times you know what knot am I going to
7:07
use for this ridge line um you know how
7:11
am I going to uh cut this wood uh or how
7:15
am I going to start this fire there's
7:17
all these different aspects of camping
7:19
that uh gets back to self-reliance and
7:21
that of course goes back to the heritage
7:24
of camping you know our whole country um
7:27
started that way being very primitive
7:29
striking out in the wilderness and and
7:31
building something out of nothing so
7:33
self-reliance is a big part of it number
7:36
two is just coming out here and
7:38
unplugging getting away from all the
7:40
distractions of life um even though I'm
7:43
using my phone to film stuff right now
7:45
uh and I do um text with my wife a
7:48
little bit um but I'm not on my phone as
7:51
much for sure i'm not cruising social
7:53
media uh I'm not watching videos i'm not
7:58
shopping i'm not reading the news um you
8:01
know I'm not reading my emails so all
8:04
that stress um of modern life and
8:06
technology goes away and um getting back
8:09
to nature that whole unplugging aspect
8:11
is is super beneficial for me and once
8:15
again that goes back to recharging my
8:17
batteries that's always you know uh a
8:21
key component of camping for me and then
8:24
number one reason why I love to camp is
8:27
the memories there is so many great
8:31
memories that I have out here and at
8:34
other places and with other people
8:36
camping um so many stories and uh things
8:40
that I've seen and the things that I've
8:42
done um you don't make memories um at
8:45
the grocery store you don't make
8:47
memories at work uh you don't make
8:49
memories commuting to work memories are
8:52
made at places like this and all these
8:55
things I talked about uh the camaraderie
8:58
and the unplugging and nature that all
9:02
comes together and gives you fantastic
9:05
memories so uh you know as I get older
9:09
and I can't do this as much I always
9:12
have those memories with me uh those
9:14
don't go away i'll always have those and
9:17
I can always look back um with a lot of
9:20
uh gratitude uh that I was able to do
9:25
