Seventeen Years! Can You Believe It? I Can't!
A seventeenth anniversary poem about love and time: Seventeen years! Can you believe it? I can’t! Each year of love’s a longing left behind, Vast fields of fading memories. Why can’t Each be etched more deeply in the mind? No matter. Love’s a perennial. It blooms To seasonal rhythms, but survives by will, Enduring. Though a wintry wind consumes Each blossom, the rhizome blossoms still. No matter. Fulfillment, like music, unfolds through time, Yielding moments too beautiful to bear Even as they disappear, each chime Alight with love, with longing, with tears that tear Right through the heart again, again, again, Still, though never still, embrace without end. © by Nicholas Gordon To see this poem on my site, go to https://www.poemsforfree.com/17year.html.
