How Late Can You Plant in the Garden? Late Autumn & Winter - Shrubs, Trees, Perennials

Gardening is not a cheap pastime! So when we see those plants for sale in late autumn and early winter, it is a great opportunity to add some new gems to the garden. Or is it too late in the year to get them safely into the ground? In this video I give a general rule of thumb as to whether or not it is safe to add plants (shrubs, trees and perennials) into our garden beds this late in the season. After determining if we can or not, I go through a handful of tips as to how to most effectively get our plants in the ground, ensuring they make it through winter with success. The benefits of getting our plants in the ground in the autumn or early winter are manifold compared to plants that will get planted the following spring. This is like a secret weapon to helping our plants get established more quickly into our gardens so they can begin growing and ultimately reach their largesse even more quickly.
