MiG-21 Fishbed – The AK-47 of Combat Aircraft. Most combat aircraft developed in the 1950s are little more than historical artifacts today. Howaever, there is one interceptor that was first seen in public in 1956 that remains in front-line service today: the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21, better known in the west under its NATO reporting name “Fishbed”.
