lyric wise i tried to kind of just fit the theme and kind of make it a nostalgic type of song but
0:06
also not about dwelling in the past but looking to the future and these are very much unfinished
0:12
vocals but i can show you like what i did um effects wise they still need to be cleaned up
0:18
it's only to be tuned denoised and all that kind of stuff but i can show you a kind of just
0:24
arrangement what i'm doing arrangement wise uh and also just effects like like preset change
0:28
chain wise so first off i'm using some eq here using the ssl channel here i'm just using some
0:36
eq some boosting the highs here boosting about 4.5 boosting about 1.5 then we got some cla 76
0:45
some 1176 compression so if you have a one of these like waves has or logic has a free 1176
0:52
plugin that you can use but i just have to use the one by waves since i like their sound i'm
0:57
familiar with those just some de-essing then some saturation and then finally a limiter just to keep
1:05
those peaks down and so then arrangement wise a big thing with like 80s music music and synth pop
1:10
was a lot of layers i probably if i had more time i would have used more layers but i did get some
1:16
layers in here so i got three layered tracks for the main vocal here so this is just the same part
1:23
sang three times and then one's panned left one's panned right one goes down the center so it makes
1:27
a big wide sounding vocal um i'll show you what that sounds like in a second and then i create a
1:32
bunch of background vocals here you can see all these one two three four five six seven eight
1:38
these are harmonies as well i think these are like i think i'm singing like up an octave maybe
1:44
for one and then i think there's all just different harmonies and i'm just coming in intermittently
1:50
like emphasizing certain words not like seeing all the way through just to emphasize the kind of the bouncy nature of the chorus So go ahead and hear this with everything playing
2:24
So it needs lots of work, needs lots of volume automation and so on
2:40
So that might be a separate video, but you can get the arrangement idea that we have going
2:44
on here. So I'll just solo the background vocals so you can kind of hear what they're doing
2:54
And they just sound a little grittier because I've got some vocal synth on here
3:09
So it's adding some Polyvox, some formants to it. More saturation. And then I had my horrible attempt at rapping
3:20
I got a friend who is pretty good at rap so I'm thinking maybe having him record this
3:25
but I can show you what I did here so bridge again
3:29
we got different layers here for the singing part and then we got the rap down here
3:35
and I'm using the main things I'm using is like vocal synth here
3:39
so I'm adding like a vocoder effect some polyvox as well this is by iZotope, really cool plugin
3:44
I'll have this linked as well in the description all plugins linked in the description
3:48
And then also vocal bender by waves to kind of make it sound a little deeper basically to try and hide how bad my vocal sounds And then just a bunch of compression on here Some EQ and using some like console saturation
4:04
To make it sound grittier. Some reverb, a limiter. And then also using the Greg Wells voice centric
4:09
This is really nice. Add more compression, reverb, and doubling. Anyway, we'll hear this bridge section now
4:23
I've got a couple, um
4:53
Other words are being emphasized here at a higher octave Definitely something to clean this up because the vocals are definitely not very clear because that vocal bender thing
5:23
The only cool thing I did do was automating the format here in vocal bender
5:33
So I'm kind of having it pitch downward and upward at certain parts
5:38
You can hear that here. And then laser nuts. And this vocal is too quiet
5:55
So again volume automation is needed since it doesn have the benefit of any layers I had some screaming vocals in here too
6:03
in my attempt at screaming. So I went all over the place with this track kind of trying to implement everything
6:09
But those are not properly mixed yet. So I'm just going to turn these down then
6:23
I was trying to add some like an extra
6:53
like ad-libbed version of the final chorus there so i'm not saying exactly the same i probably need
6:58
to re-record that a couple times but you kind of get the idea this is more of an arrangement
7:03
overview versus like a final polished mix real quick be sure to download my free synthwave sample
