Learn how to organize and plan your workouts for your week
0:04
What's going on guys? My name is Coach Malik with MBP Training and in this video we're going to talk about how to organize and plan your workouts
0:11
The first thing you want to think about when you plan out your workouts for the week
0:15
is how many times am I going to work out per week. Am I going to work out two times per week, three times per week
0:21
or am I going to work out six times per week and have one day rest. This is the first question you want to ask
0:26
because based off of how many times you go and work out in the week is the exact number that you want to be able to split up your routine
0:33
Because depending on how many days you're going to work out for the week is going to depend on what we're going to hit on those days
0:39
So let's say you're going to work out three times a week, right, two to three
0:43
which gives us more rest during the week because there's seven days
0:47
So we work out two or three, we're going to have four days or more of rest
0:51
So these types of programs, you're going to want to hit full body. You're going to want to hit full body because you're going to be able to have enough time
0:58
throughout those other four days or five days to rest and recover
1:02
Now if you're going two, I'll go high intense, full body. Whereas if you're going three, I'd maybe go medium intensity
1:10
so you can work hard every three days that you go work out. Let's say you're going to go work out four times a week
1:15
Now four times a week, you could have different types of splits. One is a push-pull, right, so you can go one day you can push, push, push
1:23
and this could be a lower body push as well. And then on that second day you can go pull, pull, pull, again lower body pull as well
1:30
And then just switch off those with a day in between. Like Monday push, Tuesday pull, Wednesday rest
1:36
Thursday push, Friday pull, Saturday, Sunday rest. That's just one option. Another option would be lower body, upper body, right
1:44
So you can split that up two times in your week. So you can go Monday lower, Tuesday upper, Wednesday rest
1:49
Thursday lower, Friday upper, Saturday, Sunday rest. That's another option you can do
1:55
You could also do a higher intensity, lower intensity day. So let's say you go push-pull
2:00
You go Monday push heavy, Tuesday pull heavy, Wednesday rest and then you can go back Thursday push light, a little higher reps, lower weight
2:10
and then Friday pull light, higher reps, lower weight. So you can always mix it up
2:15
I just always recommend you listen to your body and feel how it's feeling throughout your workouts
2:21
and also the next day after your workout so you know what to do when you go back into the gym
2:25
So these are just examples of four times a week. Now let's go to five times a week
2:29
So if you go five times a week, now we're going to be able to spread out
2:33
our workouts and our exercise groups a little bit more. We're going to have only two days of rest, right
2:38
And in my past videos, you guys saw the seven to eight different body movements
2:43
That's what you're going to want to balance throughout the five days. So now we're going to split up even shorter rather than upper body
2:50
We're now going to maybe go upper body chest try, right. Instead of just lower body, maybe we're going to go quad focus slash knee dominant
2:58
Lunges, step ups, stuff like that. Then we maybe go pull. We're going to go a little bit more
3:03
We're going to go back by, right. We're going to go back to upper or lower
3:08
We can go deadlifts and hip dominant, right. And then going back to upper, we can go push and pull if we wanted to
3:16
We can go shoulders. We can go core heavy and yada, yada
3:21
Because we're working out more than we are resting during the week, we're able to split up our muscle groups a little bit more so that they still have
3:28
enough time to rest and recover while still getting our five workouts in for that week
3:32
Now, one thing I do want to recommend, if you are working out five to six times a week
3:36
you do want to make sure that you do have a recovery day. If you are going to do something on that seventh day
3:41
I highly recommend it being an active cardio or an active rest day
3:45
Maybe you're going on a hike. Maybe you're going out to the beach, just enjoying some nature
3:49
But I highly recommend that you do take a day off of the weights or a day off of intense exercise
3:54
That way your body can go into a recovery state and build back the muscle that we broke down during the workouts
