Good morning y'all here at the tailgate
0:06
It is a completely different ballgame today. I just woke up here about 5.30 and the wind is ripping
0:14
So I just packed up the truck. Today we're going to a new lake
0:19
It is going to be different but I think with this warm night with a lot of winds, these
0:25
big ones are going to be up shallower and they're going to be crunching
0:29
So let's head out to the waterless meet my buddy Shane. He's pretty dialed with the bite over here
0:34
He's got a big boat so we can accommodate for the waves and the wind today
0:39
We'll put the Crispy on pause, we'll go fish in his boat and we'll try to catch some bigs
0:44
in the wind. We'll show you some tactics that will hopefully work for catching these things when the wind
0:49
is ripping. So typical spring day in Texas, it's going to blow. Let's go
1:07
Ladies and gentlemen, we are floating and we are on board. Captain Shane's vessel right here
1:14
In the flesh. This man right here, we've probably known each other for about 8 years
1:21
Vibe Jigs. More Vibe Jigs. Lipless Crankies. Things with lips, things without lips, things with lips and then some sort of Jiggy McPlastic Magoo. Yup
1:38
Big fish stuff. Big cricket stuff. This water that we've got here is pretty stained
1:45
Worse than yesterday. So I think I'm going to stay with my color choice on my Vibe Jig
1:52
Flamin' Hot. Happy Trailer on the back there. It's just bright. It's like, hey, I'm a beacon
1:59
Come eat me. I'm hot. It's a cold morning. You want a Flamin' Hot in your face
2:05
Hopefully that's going to happen. But we've got plenty of backup tackle. Tackle Totes still available at Googleswap.com
2:27
In the Crispy Collector this ride would have taken about 30 minutes, but I think we arrived
2:37
in about 3 minutes. There they spotted. It got a little choppier than I realized as we were heading with the wind down the lake
2:45
a few miles. This is a really good place to start. Start looking this time of year
2:51
The beginnings of the creeks. Work your way in there. Especially when the day gets later and the water starts warming up
2:58
You got a little cold morning, a little breezy, and you got maybe some wood or some grass
3:05
The mouth of those creeks got wind blowing on it with Navy
3:10
Get them moving baits out there. Get to winding and grinding before you get all excited on your plastics
3:15
I got the LVS 34. Is that all you do? Oh yeah
3:20
I got two of them. I got a 34 forward and a 34
3:23
Can I do it on the Echo map? Look at those two. Look at those two
3:27
Two of them right there. Okay now. You're honestly the first person I've been in the boat with that runs that. Really? Yeah
3:35
Everybody else is just a scope. Just a scoping. My gosh. Look at the bait pod. Yeah
3:42
Okay folks at home. This is a... Do your thing buddy. I'm watching a master here
3:46
Look at these fish. Look at these fish. Look at these fish. Look at these fish
3:50
3:54
3:58
4:02
4:06
4:10
4:14
4:18
4:22
Look at these fish. Oh my gosh, you just made me want to spend 10 grand
4:26
It's easy. Golly. It's easy. Oh no, we're just lost in the matrix these days
4:34
Dude, I mean it's... We are. Until they tell us stop, this is what we got to live with
4:40
Just roamers getting ready. These are roamers getting ready. 56, this is good temperatures for those moving baits to start kicking in
4:52
Cranks and spinneys. Oh gosh, speaking of wolf packs, look at these shad getters
4:59
Now can you see your lure on perspective when it comes through
5:03
I'm going to try and look, see if there's any grass. See it
5:08
You're just looking for cover that you missed and a potential pack of fish on that perspective
5:14
Yeah, there's like, just kind of a high spot out here that doesn't have grass on it
5:22
This is why I like to get in the boat with you, man. You, when I first started fishing with you, you were like kind of learning offshore fishing a little bit. Yeah
5:31
And you literally dedicated, you dedicated like a couple of years to really get dialed and you are absolutely dialed, my friend
5:39
I was thinking yesterday it'd be interesting, it'd be an interesting video concept
5:44
It'd be entertaining to take like one of the good electronic readers on tour and pair them with like a high school kid
5:55
Give the high school kid this. The pro gets only 2D and a map and just put them on the lake for a day and see what happens
6:10
What do you think? There's some high school kids that, that they grew up on this
6:14
They're really good. I mean, look at. Yeah. A couple of random roamers, but no, no big juices on the flats
6:30
We're not going to waste time here. Say that's my biggest flaw in fishing
6:36
If I was going to fish tournaments is like. No one to pay. Yeah
6:40
I, I'm one of those guys where I like, I want to catch a fish off every bank and I'll sit there and just try a bunch of stuff and waste a bunch of time
6:54
I know he's a shallow guy for sure. We use it obviously, but we're not like trolling motor down
7:08
We find stuff and then we use it to like. There's one
7:12
Yeah, buddy. There she blows. There you go. First, first catch of the day on the clutch
7:26
There he is. He got it. He got it a little bit. He ate it head first
7:31
Oh, he actually had it in his gills. Sorry, buddy. Sorry, you, you absolutely throttled that thing in your, to your gill plates
7:46
He'll be okay. Let's help him out a little bit. Give him some cosmetic reconstructive surgery
7:54
There we go. All right. First one of the day on the old fire truck
8:03
Chatter, Bogola. Got me one. Come here, buddy. Mary old mudfish. I'm not going to do it
8:15
I'm not going to do it. I'm not going to do it. I'm not going to do it. I'm not going to do it
8:19
8:24
8:28
8:32
8:36
8:40
8:44
I'm not going to do it. I'm not going to do it. Grassy
8:48
We're going to get a big bite here in a minute. Roch is going to. We're going
8:52
Am I stuck in the grass? Nope. His head shakes. There's another one
9:01
Oh, it feels big too. He done started pulling. Hang on now
9:07
Oh, shoot. There it go. There it go. He got it down. Broke
9:13
Oh, yeah. Yeah, buddy. Get up in here in this fresh 20 pound line
9:20
Reaction rod. There we go. There it go. Red-lipped beauty. I mean, he got it
9:32
Put that spot lock on. I'm about to. I did it. About to turn that program on
9:39
While we were being stubborn and throwing weird baits. So that's two on a vibe
9:46
You're throwing an old school bait. An oldie but a goodie. A plug
9:54
An L-lipped plug. Correct, sir. Folks at home may not even know what that is
10:01
I don't even know if I should show them. Shouldn't you? Huh? No? No
10:08
That's the old ET seeker, huh? He's known to catch a large grass bat
10:17
Right here in the drain where they should be. Drain dwellers. All right
10:22
Now we need another one of these. Flamin' Hot Cheetos. Flamin' Hot Omni-directional
10:31
Look at this thing, man. This thing is pure pleasure. This thing is pure pleasure
10:41
Pure pleasure for your vibrating jig. I'm not going to let you kick my ass too bad. Well
10:48
let me tell you a little something, okay? There's a little difference between
10:52
two to three pounder and five to eight pounder. Well, you just haven't swam it in front of one yet
11:00
Not to say. It'll lock it up, I promise you. Catch another one
11:04
Watch how fast I pick up that chatter. Half-halves. I'm not stupid
11:13
What is that? I got three now. This motor literally looks like
11:19
the head of who's the the airplane bad guy Transformers Star Star something
11:34
God, what's his name? Star. Well, you got Megatron. Megatron. But his
11:41
his little sidekick buddy that's the like the fighter jet. Starscream. Looks like the head of Starscream
11:54
Starscream. I'm not stupid
12:05
I'm not stupid. I'm not stupid. I'm not stupid. I'm not stupid
12:09
12:13
12:17
12:21
12:25
12:29
12:33
12:37
12:41
12:45
12:49
12:53
12:57
13:01
13:05
13:09
13:13
13:17
13:21
13:25
13:29
I'm not stupid. Fresh water. Let's get out of here. Completely new lake out here
13:33
This place is green versus brown, which is what we wanted to see. What I like about this clear water, clearer water, is that you can slow down and you have
13:35
way more options. You can throw more finessey stuff in there. You can throw more finessey stuff in there. You can throw more finessey stuff in there
13:39
You can throw more finessey stuff in there. You can throw more finessey stuff in there. You can throw more finessey stuff in there. You can throw more finessey stuff in there
13:43
You can throw more finessey stuff in there. You can throw more finessey stuff in there. You can throw more finessey stuff in there. You can throw more finessey stuff in there
13:47
This is like where they were yesterday. Right when you get into a little pouch. Right when you get into a little pouch. Right when you get into a little pouch
13:51
Right when you get into a little pouch. Right when you get into a little pouch. Right when you get into a little pouch. Right when you get into a little pouch
13:55
13:59
14:03
14:08
This is like where they were yesterday. Right when you get into a little pouch. Right when you get into a little pouch. Right when you get into a little pouch
14:12
14:16
14:20
14:24
14:28
We've all been there. My wacky worm is done flowing off y'all. My wacky worm is done flowing off y'all. My wacky worm is done flowing off y'all
14:32
My wacky worm is done flowing off y'all. So I'm going to take that as a sign that I need to just throw this little slimmer on
14:34
So I'm going to take that as a sign that I need to just throw this little slimmer on. Cover a little bit more water
14:36
Cover a little bit more water. Cover a little bit more water. Cover a little bit more water. Cover a little bit more water
14:40
14:44
14:48
14:52
14:56
15:00
15:04
15:08
Cover a little bit more water. Cover a little bit more water. Look at this action son. Look at that little hunt
15:12
That little body roll. She's got some sexy moves. Alright we're taking a quick tip break. It's a little thing but it's one of those little things that helps
15:16
So I am trying to throw this little swim bait in these pad stems and it's not working. I'm going to try to get it to work
15:18
I'm going to try to get it to work. I'm going to try to get it to work. I'm going to try to get it to work
15:21
15:24
15:27
15:30
15:33
15:36
15:39
15:42
15:58
16:01
16:04
16:07
16:10
16:13
I'm going to try to get it to work. I like this knot, and this is one of them
16:30
The tag end is coming out of the front. I don't know if you guys can see that, but it's coming out the front there
16:37
That little nugget on the front is going to catch slightly on the grass, and then it will
16:44
drag a piece off with it. The other knot that I like to tie, it's not as strong as a uni, but it is a cleaner knot
16:52
in terms of getting through grass, is just your old, I think it's just a tri-lean knot
16:58
That's how I learned the name of it. It's probably got many different names. I think it's called a fisherman's knot as well
17:03
It's a very simple knot. You can spin your bait up like this, or you can just sit there and you wrap up the line
17:10
with your tag end. You can do a double version of this as well
17:16
I'm just doing the simple version. Just five or six times, whatever, then you go back through that hole there, and it's
17:27
going to put some weakness into your line at the base of the knot, just the way it constricts down
17:36
If you notice, the tag end is facing down towards the bait
17:42
I'm going to leave a little bit of length there. Now if you notice, that tag end is basically going right back into the plastic
17:51
When I'm coming through grass, it's going to slide off of that and that little tag is
17:56
not going to get caught. I like this for swim jigs. I like this for little swim baits like this, weightless plastics, even anything that'll
18:05
get snagged in the grass like that, that you don't want to get hung up
18:09
Just a little tip of the day. Now let's get a fish on the line
18:14
Sounded like a bonefish running off with it. I cranked him, dude
18:22
I see a lot of tail bitage, but he had it good enough
18:28
He was up there. Hooked up. Yeah. Little male boy looking up there
18:38
Oh, no he didn't. He did. Look at that, he chomped that saucy
18:51
I did something here that was good as an initial idea, but bad for the landing
18:57
I stuck a Bowmar nose button in here to prevent this bait from sliding down and getting stuck
19:04
the hook from being exposed, but it prevented it from really sliding up and getting a good
19:10
gap on that hook set. If I would've tournament mode, I could've slung him earlier and not played him out
19:19
we would've been okay, but that was an error on my part
19:24
Little male cruisers. Looking for a companion. Male men, yep. Looking for a friend
19:34
There's a big one right up there. Oh, that one rocked mine
19:41
Dude, that could've been a crappie. I mean, it gyrated hits. It was twice, twice
19:52
I let him kind of lick on it for a second, thinking he'd get it
20:00
Good one, following the jerkbait. Interested, but... Kind of like cats
20:11
It's like a cat with a laser pointer. She came up four feet
20:16
She denied it. Alright, okay, okay. You ain't gotta tell me twice
20:21
Alright, what's the deal here, buddy? What are you thinking? What's going on
20:25
I mean, what's the hottest bait in fishing right now? You're not gonna do it
20:29
I'm gonna do it. You're not gonna do it, dude. I'm not gonna let you, bro. I can't let you go down that path, bro
20:34
You're going crappie fishing. Uh-oh. There's the fairy sticks. Uh-oh. Oh my gosh, he's doing it
20:45
What am I supposed to do? I'm supposed to allow... You're supposed to not catch a fish and be a man
20:50
I'm supposed to allow fish to come and look at my jerkbait and deny me
20:57
My good friend and mentor is crappie fishing. All the cool kids are doing it
21:06
Fish sees it. Crappies are coming. Crappies are coming. He's crappie fishing
21:14
Look at all those fish. Dude. What in the world? Those are bluegill, probably
21:19
This thing looks good. Come on, son
21:30
There he is. That's a good one now. You gonna sling him
21:36
Oh, yeah. Sling him, dude. There's my boy. There's my boy slinging in a decent
21:46
There she blows. All right. Yes. I can catch a bass. I kind of called that, even though it's not a big fish
21:56
It's a nice one, though. It is a very nice one. You did call it, and you didn't catch it on laugh scope. No
22:02
Chunk and wind. Here we go, baby. Pretty. Let's go. All right
22:09
One more. Add that to the satchel for the day. It's actually not terrible
22:19
Let's see what they have to say about that. King Kong, ain't got nothing on me
22:25
That's an awesome clip. Yeah. Some good ones out there. Back in the heyday, boy
22:34
Back in the heyday. Oh, there he is, son. There he is
22:44
Come up in here, son. Come up in here. There he comes
22:48
Come up in here. There he comes. Come here. I'm not trying to flay you
22:56
There he comes, boy. Look at that. That's an awesome. Just nose gripped it
23:01
Got dangerous on him. There we go. There's a quality bite. There she blows
23:14
Nice. Whee! That's a good smelling grass fish right there. We're going to let it go
23:22
Just fishing on this windy point. With the El Dangerous. Let's see what I got
23:32
That was fun. Just reeling it along. Duke! Alien! Fishing with a big rod
23:38
Is that a pocket size? It's a pocket bass. Oh. Is that the day ender
23:45
Is it? You're over here throwing a 7 inch El Dangerous and I'm throwing a 2.8. Catching. Oh
23:53
Sorry, Phillip. A little pocket guy. That fish is literally the size of my swim bait
23:57
Actually, it is. Where's your swim bait? It's right here. It's right here
24:03
Pretty much. Pretty much. Pretty much. You may go now. May go
24:11
Man, we've been working hard for these bites out here today. I think we're going to take it in though
24:18
We've got a podcast to do. We're potting tonight. I'm going to be a guest
24:23
An honored guest. Thank you. Always honored. I haven't been out here in a while
24:27
I wanted to catch up. I wanted to do a pod and do a little fishing with my boy Shane
24:38
The Bayou Classic Cod. That is a fryer, ladies and gentlemen. We're off the water
24:44
Just had a little dinner. Had a little dinner at Rayburn Country
24:49
If you know what that's about. Big Derb in town right now. Big Toyota Series in town
24:54
Yoda. Yoda. And actually, my buddy's Derb partner. He's in third right now
25:02
Is that right? Is that how it ended up? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's 26-14. 26-14
25:08
And I'm Big Sam. Bam. Anyway, this is the Juice podcast. We're going to talk about fishing
25:14
They talk about deep dangling secrets. Industry stuff. Maybe just life stuff
25:19
Who knows? So if you want to tune in, The Juice. Tell them where to see it
25:24
Hear it. The Juice podcast? The Juice podcast. Where do you download it? YouTube
25:30
We're YouTube only now because that's all that counts. Okay. YouTube only. Alright
25:36
The Juice. Welcome to my lair. We finished the podcast a little while ago
25:40
And I basically just drove over to a little stay park type area
25:45
$14, y'all. Pretty cheap. Pretty cheap little stay. It is just warm, though
25:51
We're in the 60s. And the fishing just is weird. It can be just so good or just off before they really move up on the beds
26:04
So I've got a lot of positive feedback about where I'm going to go tomorrow
26:10
So the next video, we're going to a place I've never fished before
26:14
But it's a river system. And it should be just down and dirty
26:19
Just pitch and flip and throw in the meat and potatoes. And key takeaways from today
26:25
The lessons. Lead in banks. These grass lines. They're like little highways
26:31
And these fish are just cruising in and out of there. It doesn't mean that they're going to eat
26:35
But they're using those areas. The vibe jig was good. We caught them on the saucy slimmer today when the water was clear
26:43
Did get a good one on the Zal Dangerous. But it's just not quite there yet
26:49
I'm hoping tomorrow we're just going to get nasty with them. And we've still got another lake we're going to visit to do some crappie fishing as well
26:58
I will see you soon on the next adventure in the great outdoors
27:02
Good night for now. It's going to be in the 60's tonight
27:16
It's hot in here. It's crazy. Oh yeah. Lights out. Oh yeah
