Hey Mountain Family
0:07
So today I am doing a money saving collab. I'm going to share with you guys ways that Dev and I have found to pinch pennies
0:13
And if you want to watch other videos like this, there will be a playlist down below
0:17
in the description bar so make sure to check that out. I am still sick you guys, so I apologize for the way that I sound today
0:24
If you are new to my channel and this is the first video you're watching of mine, my name
0:28
is Kristen. I am a vlogger from West Virginia and my husband and I have three little girls
0:33
Carly will be three in June, Kinley will be two in August, and Andy just turned two months
0:40
Without further ado, I'm going to go ahead and get into this video. The first way that Dev and I save money is buying in bulk
0:46
We recently just got a Sam's Club card like a month and a half ago, something like that
0:51
And we don't buy everything in bulk. Our family isn't that big that that's necessary
0:56
But we do buy things like wipes, cleaning stuff, garbage bags, dishwasher liquid, basically
1:03
just stuff like that. We buy that in bulk. And it really does save us money in the long run
1:08
The second way that we save money, and I haven't been doing this lately because we've moved
1:12
and doing this on top of moving, it was just too much
1:16
But I'm going to start cloth diapering Andy. It's just so much cheaper to spend like $200 on a stash and do cloth diaper laundry every
1:24
other day, rather than to keep paying for disposables. Cloth diapering really isn't a dirty job as most people think
1:31
It's really not that bad. If you buy the toilet attachment and just spray everything down the toilet, it's really
1:36
not bad. But today I'm going to unpack our cloth diapers and I'm going to start that with Andy
1:42
If they fit her, I hope that they do. And that is how we're going to save money on diapers
1:47
The third way that we save money, I kind of borrowed this idea from CoSci
1:52
We went last year. They had like this going green exhibit. And in the exhibit they suggested that you unplug all appliances that run a clock, like
2:00
a microwave for instance, because that is constantly using energy. Now granted, I don't unplug everything that uses a clock, like my stove
2:09
I don't do that. To me that's going just a little bit too far and I don't find it necessary
2:14
But if I'm not using something, it comes out of the wall. And I do unplug my microwave because the clock on it just really isn't necessary
2:21
And in a society where we have cell phones that constantly keep time for us, I don't
2:26
need my microwave. It's not going to save you a bunch of money on your electric bill, but any little bit
2:31
counts and I just don't see the necessity for the clock on my microwave
2:36
I just realized that number 4 kind of ties into number 3 in a way, but oh well
2:41
I turn off my lights when I'm not in the room. Actually, just to take it a step further, on beautiful sunny days like this where I
2:48
have lots of light coming through my windows, I don't turn on my lights at all
2:52
It's light in here. What is the need for my light to be on if it's already light in here
2:58
So I don't do that. We really only use our lights for when it gets dark outside
3:02
I'm so excited for it to be summer very soon because it means it's going to be nice and
3:05
sunny the majority of the time and my electric bill is going to go really down
3:09
I am so excited. And the fifth and last thing that Dev and I do to save money, if we can, we buy generic
3:15
brand everything. I mean, you name it. The pharmacy, food, I even go cheap on makeup
3:21
Not that I wear much anyway as you can clearly see. I just don't have the time nowadays, so forget it
3:26
But anytime I can buy something generic that is just as good as the name brand stuff, I
3:30
buy it. So that is how Dev and I save money. I hope you guys enjoyed this video

I have changed my vlogging schedule. I now vlog Monday through Friday
3:44
So I will see you guys tomorrow. Bye guys. Fun little side note
3:50
I just noticed that you guys were able to see my hand during this video. Carly decided to get into my food coloring
3:56
So I've had to clean that up off my floor today. So my hand is stained
4:00
I'm sorry guys. Didn't know that you all could see that until I started watching
4:05
And I was like, oh yeah, I'm going to explain that. I'm sorry
4:19
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry
4:25
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry
4:31
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry
4:37
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry
4:43
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry
