Welcome everyone to this week's episode we have a Ruby Rose to update for you at
0:06
the end of this episode so definitely keep watching for that and in the
0:11
meantime let's go sailing in Sydney. Good morning everyone. What a view. How good is that hey
0:39
Gorgeous. Saturday morning, beautiful day, bright sunshine, absolutely gorgeous
0:49
The last day before some really wet and windy weather comes in. So we are moving
0:55
because we do not want to be in that anchorage that we were in last night with the
1:02
really windy and wet weather. Partly because it's not, I mean the view is
1:08
spectacular obviously but it's quite bouncy. Lots of ferries, lots of watercraft
1:14
going past creating a lot of wash. So it's quite noisy, a lot of party boats
1:18
which is totally fine, that's their prerogative to come and have a good time
1:22
with a great view but it is a little distracting. Finally it is exposed to the
1:28
south and we're getting some strong 30 knots southerly winds tomorrow. So we are
1:33
moving, we are going to go into Middle Harbour which is very very protected
1:39
really really well protected. Beautiful little harbour, there's lots of little coves in there actually. Not quite sure where we'll end up but I think that it's
1:48
a good place for us to kind of hide ourselves away for a few days, wait for
1:52
this weather to blow through and just enjoy being on this beautiful beautiful catamaran
2:03
I'm gonna take you to the world, I'm gonna love you. Yeah I'm gonna love you
2:11
I'll give you the world, of what I've got. Fancy plans baby I have not
2:19
Just gonna love you. Yeah I'm gonna love you. I'm gonna love you baby
2:28
Cross my heart and hope to die. I have to say that one of the things I love most about sailing this boat and
2:35
it's not actually specific to to sea wind boats at all I think it's it's
2:41
generally true of most catamarans is that you kind of just like sit here at
2:48
the helm and I'm like oh the jibney is shooting in cool and it's like press a
2:53
button like so and it's done and same goes for like furling the jib and
3:01
unfurling it you just you just sit here and you just do it like you know in
3:06
basically a seated position it's all right to hand and that is definitely not
3:12
something we had with Ruby Rose but that being said you can set it up like that
3:17
with monohulls can't you Nick it's just that we didn't have that set up on Ruby Rose
3:30
so another busy day out on the water beautiful day on the water actually well
3:36
I think it's gonna be the last good day we're gonna get for a while yes
3:40
this is like the best weather that we're gonna have so all I would say is that
3:45
weather forecast hasn't been particularly accurate it has been extremely inaccurate and far be it for me to like question the Bureau of
3:52
Meteorology but I feel like it's been highly inaccurate so yeah we will wait
3:59
and see we're better off just looking out the window to see what the weather is and looking at the forecast
4:19
45 minutes early for the bridge in typical fashion rather too early or too
4:29
late I think these days and we need to charge the batteries yeah we need to
4:34
charge the batteries they were running we've got a little alarm this morning saying they're running low what's low what percentage are they it was said it
4:41
was just pre warning so we're at 35% so yeah we're just drilling around the
4:47
bridges up there and we've got another 45 minutes of just hanging out so yeah
4:52
beautiful morning yeah chillin on the water now it's all good all good pretty
4:59
fortunes have this we know that weather's coming in the storm we had
5:03
last night was pretty epic there's lightning over Sydney I can hear the
5:09
thunder along with these party boats next to us hopefully they'll move on at
5:15
some point and we know that there's a wind shift so the anchorage that we were in last night
5:22
just is not gonna work for us tonight as we get this kind of front coming
5:26
through so yeah so we'll wait for the bridge go through find an anchorage drop the hook or pick up a buoy depending what's available and then that will be
5:35
our safe haven for tonight you
6:03
all right so the bridge is open and we're just waiting for the downstream
6:08
boats to come through first and then it'll be our turn we just wait for the
6:12
light to go green I can see four moths there might be more though so yeah lots
6:21
of people out on the water today beautiful beautiful day yeah loads of rain babe
7:12
Bay beautiful Bay we actually came here before and it's just as sunny now as it
7:18
was then I think we're gonna settle in here for a couple of days we've got some
7:22
weather coming in as we've said a couple of times now and while the weather is
7:26
nice today we are going to enjoy it get the dinghy in the water go for a little
7:30
zip around there's a beach around the corner that we want to go and see and
7:34
then in the words of pink we'll get this party started yes but not in the words
7:39
of pink we also have run out of beer so that's a priority we need to address
8:02
suddenly we're having a really nice walk which I wasn't quite expecting it's
8:09
pretty isn't it this staircase babe very lovely this it's like found a random
8:40
babe you stop crashing the drain well we walked about I know it's really like a
8:53
kilometer it feels like about five it's pretty warm today I found this like tiny
9:00
little shopping center with a little bottle I've got some beer very important
9:04
next few days and I got really nice refreshing watermelon and apple juice at
9:09
the same time so it's really strange because like one minute we're in the
9:15
National Park that's all you feel like a million miles away from civilization
9:18
waterfall wildlife nice little beach literally you walk five steps and you're
9:28
in Sydney suburbia it's quite strange so last week we felt like a really kind of a really kind of bouncy vibration if
9:47
that makes sense from the starboard engine we put the engine into reverse
9:51
and it seemed to improve and so we said okay we must have got something around
9:56
the prop but now it's you know must have been out to kick it off by putting there
10:00
the engine into reverse and we were just here just now and I was just sitting on
10:07
the back step of the hull and I looked over and the water is kind of clear
10:13
enough to see the prop and I can see that there's a rope wrapped around
10:17
the prop it's been there for a while yeah that'll be cause the problem yeah and there's no rope car on that there isn't
10:50
as forecast the weather deteriorated significantly overnight and we spent the
11:10
next few days hiding from the rain and the wind well this might not sound very
11:16
pleasant there is actually something wonderfully cozy about being inside on a
11:20
warm dry boat during a rainstorm on Ruby Rose our 38-foot monohull we
11:24
experienced this quite a bit as we sailed to northern France in the UK last year however we're finding that it was much easier to do with being cooped up
11:31
on a catamaran than a monohull we simply use the time to chill out work
11:36
online and obviously drink cups of tea eventually the rain passed and we're able to get back to enjoying the full
11:53
benefits of life at anchor thank you so much for watching this week's episode we
11:58
really appreciate it don't forget to subscribe and turn on your notification bill and we'll see you next week with a brand new episode you
12:15
now I know all of you have been asking for Ruby Rose 2 updates and we have
12:20
these images direct from the factory these literally came in a couple of days ago and thank you so much to Shane over at Seawind for sending these to us and
12:28
we will of course get still images to you far faster than we can get videos we
12:32
will have another video about Ruby Rose 2 coming out pretty soon now these
12:36
stills are from about the 27th of June and what this shows this is the master
12:42
cabin in the portside hull looking forward what you can see now is that the
12:46
they've actually got the fiberglass insert which is where the master bed is
12:51
going to be where the chap is stood at the very end that is where the walk-in
12:54
wardrobe is going to be and you can quite clearly see those carbon fiber
12:58
stringers and the reinforcements around the windows on the hull there's also
13:03
been a lot of talk after our last video about the carbon fiber bulkheads and the
13:07
glassing in and obviously Paul Colin over at Parley Revival with his Lagoon
13:11
just a couple of questions that I need to answer people have asked is that
13:15
solid carbon fiber no it's foam core surrounded by carbon fiber it is glassed
13:20
and tabbed so should be very very strong and this is another still image again
13:25
taking them a slightly different angle this is looking down from I think where the master bed is going to be you've got Mike there stood in the corner where
13:32
the walk-in wardrobe is going to be I guess this picture shows the size of those windows they're gonna be pretty huge so we imagine a lot of light coming
13:39
in there we are having blinds on Ruby Rose too and again you can see just
13:44
underneath that fan one of the cubby holes where there's gonna be storage for
13:48
things like iPads but this is all gonna be wood faced so again where the fan is
13:52
is where the mattress is gonna go there will be an extended part which will be the end of the bed because some of you eagle-eyed people of note that the bed
13:58
probably isn't gonna be long enough for someone over about three foot six so
14:02
this is just part of the fiberglass again we're super pleased to have this
14:06
we're pretty happy about the the way and the speed at which this boat is being
14:10
built but obviously we're gonna bring you every detail of the construction as
14:13
soon as we get that information and this is actually Ruby Rose too this is the
14:18
center hull of hull number two of the Seawing 1370 also to be known as Ruby
14:22
Rose too so she's now infused we are so so excited about this if you haven't
14:27
already subscribed to the channel please do because we're gonna be bringing you a lot of these technical episodes a lot of Ruby Rose 2 build videos and lots of
14:36
little tidbits at the end of video so I hope you enjoyed this goodbye
