Texas Roadhouse Rolls
Ingredients:
1 cup warm milk (110-115°F or 43-46°C)
1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
¼ cup honey
4 tablespoons melted butter (divided)
1 large egg
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups bread flour (plus more for kneading)
Instructions:
Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Mix Ingredients: In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the yeast mixture, honey, 2 tablespoons of melted butter, egg, salt, and 2 cups of bread flour. Mix on low speed until combined.
Knead the Dough: Gradually add the remaining flour, ½ cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape the Rolls: Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out to about ½ inch thickness and cut into 2-inch squares.
Second Rise: Place the squares on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another 30-40 minutes until puffy.
Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Finish: Brush the hot rolls with the remaining melted butter.
