Smashburger recipe

Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
Salt and pepper to taste
4 slices of American cheese
4 hamburger buns (preferably brioche)
2 tablespoons butter (for toasting buns)
Toppings of your choice (lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, etc.)
Instructions
Prepare the Beef:
Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions (about 3 ounces each).
Roll each portion into a loose ball.
Heat the Griddle or Skillet:
Preheat a griddle or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until very hot.
Cook the Burgers:
Place a few beef balls on the hot griddle or skillet.
Using a sturdy spatula, smash each ball down to form a thin patty.
Season with salt and pepper.
Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy and browned.
Flip the patties, add a slice of cheese on top, and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
