Aug 31, 2024
Ingredients:
1 (4-pound) bone-in prime rib roast (room temperature)
¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon herbes de Provence
1 tablespoon kosher salt
Instructions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C).
Prepare the Roast: Rub the softened butter over the entire roast. Season generously with salt, pepper, and herbes de Provence.
Roast: Place the roast bone-side down in a roasting pan. Cook at 500°F for 15 minutes.
Lower Temperature: Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue to roast for about 10-12 minutes per pound for rare, 13-14 minutes per pound for medium-rare, or 14-15 minutes per pound for medium-well.
Check Temperature: Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. Aim for 115-120°F for rare, 125-130°F for medium-rare, and 135-140°F for medium.
Rest: Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before carving. The internal temperature will continue to rise slightly during this time.
Tips:
Room Temperature: Make sure the roast is at room temperature before cooking to ensure even cooking.
Resting: Letting the meat rest after cooking is crucial for juicy, tender results.
Enjoy your prime rib roast! If you have any other recipes or cooking tips you’d like, feel free to ask. 😊
