Creamy Hot Cocoa
Ingredients:
¾ cup white sugar
⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 pinch salt
⅓ cup boiling water
3 ½ cups milk
¾ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup half-and-half cream
Instructions:
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
Add Water: Stir in the boiling water and bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat. Stir continuously.
Simmer: Allow it to simmer for about 2 minutes, making sure it doesn’t scorch.
Add Milk: Stir in the milk and heat until very hot, but do not let it boil.
Finish: Remove from heat and add the vanilla extract. Divide between four mugs and add the half-and-half cream to each mug to cool it to drinking temperature.
