Ingredients:
1.6 kg braising steak (cut into large chunks)
5 tbsp sunflower oil
200 g smoked streaky bacon (cut into pieces)
1 large onion (finely chopped)
2 cloves garlic (crushed)
750 ml red wine
2 tbsp tomato puree
1 beef stock cube
2 large bay leaves
3 sprigs fresh thyme
25 g butter
450 g pearl onions (or baby onions)
300 g chestnut mushrooms (halved or quartered if large)
2 heaped tbsp cornflour
2 tbsp cold water
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley (chopped, to garnish)
