This sloka is spoken by Dhritarashtra, the king of Hastinapura, to Sanjaya, his charioteer and advisor. Dhritarashtra is asking Sanjaya to describe what is happening on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, where the Pandavas and the Kauravas are about to engage in battle.
