This is a supplemental video to our page titled "Fundamentals of Electronics: LEDs". This video is meant to demonstrate how to test an LED by using a multimeter. To perform this method of LED testing all you need is an LED and a multimeter. Take the LED to be tested and connect the positive test probe of the multimeter to the anode (+) of the LED. Next, connect the negative test probe of the multimeter to the cathode (-) of the LED. Turn the multimeter setting to the diode test setting. If your LED is good and your multimeter is providing power to the LED, it should light up. This is a supplemental video to our page titled "Fundamentals of Electronics: LEDs". This video is meant to demonstrate how to test an LED by using a coin cell battery. To perform this method of LED testing all you need is an LED and a coin cell battery. Take the LED to be tested and touch its anode (+) to the positive side of the coin cell battery (+) and touch the cathode of the LED to the opposite side of the coin cell batter or its negative side (-). If your LED is good, then it should light up (assuming your battery is good). This is a supplemental video to our page titled "Fundamentals of Electronics: LEDs". This video is meant to demonstrate what happens to an LED when there is a current limiting resistor placed in the LED circuit. If you were to connect an LED straight to a power source, such as a battery, with no current limiting resistor in the circuit path, then the LED would try to dissipate as much power as it could causing it to burst in a quick flash and burn out — destroying the LED.
