hi this is Dave from allar talking about
0:03
the 2017 Ram Power
0:05
Wagon there's going to be some
0:07
interviews at the end of this video with
0:09
people at FCA that's a FCA done
0:12
production and they're going to be
0:14
talking about the appearance and the
0:16
reason why they're going to be talking
0:17
about looks is not because the Power
0:19
Wagon is just a sticker package as they
0:22
say it's because the 2017 Power Wagon is
0:25
very similar Under the Skin to the 2014
0:28
to 2016 models there are changes but
0:31
they're not nearly as major as the way
0:33
that the appearance has changed for the
0:35
first time it has a Unique Interior and
0:38
they've changed the outward look quite a
0:39
bit as
0:40
well so what can we say about this
0:43
vehicle it comes with a single engine
0:45
but it's a doozy it's the 6.4 L gasoline
0:48
hem V8 quite a nice Powerhouse there and
0:52
it comes with a single transmission and
0:54
automatic
0:56
six-speed it is a very very capable
0:59
truck
1:00
uh it can carry a decent payload it can
1:02
tow a lot uh it's very comfortable
1:05
inside surprisingly because it's got the
1:07
Jeep inspired multi-link
1:09
suspension that really really helps to
1:12
smooth out the road and give you a lot
1:13
of lateral stability without many
1:16
downsides uh the main downside I would
1:18
suspect is cost now with the Ram Power
1:23
Wagon they had to make it more off-road
1:25
capable than the standard model and they
1:26
did it partly by raising it up but
1:29
raising it up does doesn't really help
1:30
with articulation and uh old Jeep
1:33
engineer uh always tells me that
1:36
articulation is one of the big big Keys
1:40
along with clearance and that means that
1:43
the wheels basically can go up and down
1:45
quite a lot so that you always maintain
1:47
traction even if you're going over
1:49
Boulders or into a great big pit body
1:52
strength is key and I would suspect
1:54
given the hydroformed frame and all the
1:56
testing that they do of these things
1:57
that body strength is not an issue for
1:59
the power wagon they address the
2:01
articulation this the suspension
2:04
movement through the articulink system
2:07
and that's described well on our website
2:09
at allpar.com it has uh good images
2:13
including diagrams and photos of the
2:15
articulating system and some Stills that
2:18
do a much better job of showing it off
2:20
than this video does but basically let
2:22
me just say that the suspension travel
2:24
on this truck is ludicrously good even
2:27
if you don't disconnect the sway bar and
2:30
you can uh now the disconnecting sway
2:32
bar is called a smart bar so they've
2:35
changed that uh I don't know how big a
2:37
change that is because you can only tell
2:40
that they did it if you read the Press
2:41
books or the
2:44
brochures this is a surprising
2:47
truck they're going to talk a lot about
2:49
the looks but really it's all about the
2:52
off-road capability and it's got that in
2:54
Spades so now let's just take a look at
2:56
a little bit more video and then we'll
2:58
go into the interviews
3:00
and we had the opportunity to deliver on
3:03
that active lifestyle oriented customer
3:06
to give them a look that sets them apart
3:09
this was an easy decision for US 65 to
3:13
70% of our customers are engaged in that
3:17
lifestyle so we want to give them that
3:21
most capable truck in the segment and
3:23
that's what power wagon does probably
3:26
the biggest thing we've done is we've
3:27
put on a uh n traditional Grill and we
3:31
borrowed that from our allnew Rebel uh
3:33
on our light duty truck so we've taken
3:35
the ram the personality of that grill
3:37
with the ram lettering uh and we've uh
3:40
integrated that into the front end we've
3:43
uh also powder coated the bumpers both
3:45
front and rear to complement the same
3:48
grain that's on that Grill so once again
3:50
borrowed a little bit from our Rebel we
3:53
also have uh a unique wheel a new 17-in
3:56
wheel that's uh much more aggressive
3:59
almost has kind of a industrial quality
4:01
looks like a gear the tailgate also has
4:05
some of the DNA from the rebel so we've
4:08
uh in this particular case to match the
4:11
front we have the words Ram spelled out
4:14
versus the Rams H the seats that's
4:17
probably one of the biggest things you
4:18
when you'll notice when you get into the
4:20
interior is we've taken the cues that we
4:22
did with the with the rebel when we did
4:24
the tire tread we actually took the
4:25
Goodyear durat Trak uh tire and did the
4:28
same thing we embossed it right up the
4:29
the center we got a nice big Power Wagon
4:32
kind of up the bolster so it's a it's a
4:34
really nice graphical play um and then
4:36
the customer that doesn't want the vinyl
4:39
and cloth interior they could check the
4:41
box and actually get leather now for the
4:42
interior as well we've brought in an all
4:44
new cluster Graphics uh we have new
4:46
badging through the interior and then
4:48
kind of to to cap it off we've um taken
4:51
the headliner and a-pillar trims and
4:53
done black throughout throughout there
4:55
as well so it's a really nice appearance
4:57
package and hopefully it really speaks
4:59
to the customer uh that's going to be
5:01
buying the Power Wagon
