here we are at the New York Auto Show
0:01
looking at a 1924 Chrysler which believe
0:04
it or not is supposed to be the one that
0:07
debuted at the 1924 New York Auto Show
0:10
and here it is exactly 100 years later
0:13
don't argue it's 100 years this is an
0:16
beautiful beautiful car amazingly
0:18
technologically advanced for its time
0:20
it's the model E70 B because it's
0:24
basically the second triad of Chrysler
0:26
by the engineering team of Zader Skelton
0:30
and Breer and it was supposed to come
0:32
out as a Willis and it eventually showed
0:35
up as a Maxwell the Chrysler by Maxwell
0:39
instead of the Chrysler by Willis a few
0:41
years later but now having four-wheel
0:45
hydraulic brakes it's really pretty cool
0:48
that the Chrysler people brought it back
0:49
to the New York Auto Show where it was
0:51
first unveiled to the world they started
0:54
selling them in January 1924 and they
0:57
were a big hit but they were an even
0:59
bigger hit the next year and soon the
1:03
Maxwell was their slow seller and the
1:05
more expensive Chrysler which competed
1:08
pretty much straight against Buick but
1:11
having the same top speed as a Packard
1:13
Super 8 which is a big deal from its
1:15
six-cylinder engine and it was a
1:17
technological tour to force for its time
1:20
it was also supposed to be safe at its
1:23
top speed 70 miles per hour hence the
1:26
name B70 a car that had uh better
1:30
handling than most despite what you can
1:33
see is front leaf spring suspension uh
1:37
it was still very very well engineered
1:39
now Chrysler is celebrating its 100th
1:42
anniversary and you can too with a copy
1:45
of Century of Chrysler this is a book
1:48
that covers everything from before the
1:50
Chrysler was even launched in 1924 all
1:53
the way up to 2025 so pick up a copy and
1:58
help celebrate Chrysler's 100th
1:59
anniversary
