have you ever been with a friend an
0:03
acquaintance a family member who needed
0:06
to use internet on their device and for
0:09
some reason maybe they ran out of data
0:12
you have some mobile data on your line
0:15
and you'd like to share with them that
0:18
happens every now and then did you know
0:21
that there are three three different
0:23
ways that you can share mobile data with
0:26
another device come with me
0:30
[Music]
0:37
you have an active mobile data plan a
0:40
subscription and you need to share with
0:42
your spouse with a sibling with a friend
0:45
with a colleague with a random person
0:47
somewhere who needs to be able to use
0:50
internet on their phone like I said
0:53
there are three methods three different
0:55
ways that you can do it
0:59
let's start with the first one and it's
1:01
probably the one that a lot of people
1:03
are aware of but there are two others
1:05
we'll come to those so that first one is
1:09
what we call a Wi-Fi hotspot you hear
1:13
hotspot hotspot you're turning your
1:16
phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot so that it
1:20
shares your mobile data with another
1:23
phone who now connects to that hotspot
1:28
to use the
1:33
internet to do that go into the settings
1:37
of your phone whether it's an iPhone or
1:40
an Android phone it doesn't matter some
1:43
of the procedures that I am sharing with
1:45
you will differ some of the terms will
1:49
differ depending on your smartphone
1:52
manufacturer and how they choose to
1:54
customize their user interface but the
1:57
principles are the
1:59
same this is an Android phone and we're
2:02
going to use it it runs stock Android so
2:05
go to the settings of that phone scroll
2:08
down to network and internet at the top
2:13
there right
2:15
there and if you look down you are going
2:19
to see hotspot and tether under hotspot
2:24
and tethering there is Wi-Fi hotspot so
2:27
you tap on Wi-Fi hotspot that's what
2:30
we're talking about now and you toggle
2:34
it
2:36
on if you're using it for the first time
2:39
you need to set a name a unique name for
2:42
it and you can use the name of the phone
2:46
you can get creative
2:49
then you also need to set a password
2:52
because anytime you want to share your
2:55
hotspot with a friend or with anybody
2:58
they have to find your device using that
3:00
name and you have to give them that
3:03
password please do not set up your
3:06
hotspot without setting up a password
3:09
why is
3:09
that if you set up your hotspot without
3:13
assigning it a password anytime you turn
3:15
it on anyone can connect to it and use
3:17
your data
3:18
and they can wipe out your mobile data
3:20
subscription unless you are on an
3:22
unlimited plan that's just a recipe for
3:25
disaster so the first thing you do
3:27
assign a name and then set a password
3:30
and now you're ready to share with
3:32
anyone just ask your friend or whoever
3:35
you want to share with to go to their
3:37
Wi-Fi search for your for your phone's
3:40
name and then tap on it and then enter
3:43
the password that you give to them and
3:45
they're connected to you and they can
3:47
start using your mobile data on their
3:50
device don't forget to like this video
3:54
follow my channel turn on your
3:55
notifications so that when I release
3:57
more educative and informative videos
4:00
like this you can get
4:06
notified but I said there are three ways
4:09
it's good to have options and I can tell
4:12
you scenarios in which I got stuck with
4:14
one and I was able to use one of the
4:18
other two so we go back
4:21
to hotspot and tethering under Wi-Fi
4:26
hotspot you're going to see USB
4:29
tethering you can see that the USB
4:32
tethering option is grayed out
4:35
but if I bring another phone connect it
4:40
with a USB
4:43
C to USBC because both phones have a
4:47
USBC port immediately I connect the two
4:51
phones the USB
4:53
tetrin comes alive it's no longer grayed
4:56
out so that means that option is now
5:00
available for me to use and I can turn
5:03
it on it comes on i've started sharing
5:08
my mobile
5:09
data with the second phone the first
5:14
option Wi-Fi
5:16
hotspot the second option USB
5:21
tethering let's move over to the third
5:24
right now we're still under hotspot and
5:28
tetring the third option is called
5:31
Bluetooth tering
5:34
you didn't see that coming did you did
5:37
you know that you could share your
5:38
mobile data with another phone through
5:42
Bluetooth oh yes i've done it multiple
5:44
times there are times a USB cable is not
5:47
available and there are times that for
5:50
some reason the other phone does not see
5:54
the Wi-Fi hotspot of my phone usually
5:58
older phones whose Wi-Fi radios are not
6:03
up to
6:08
date how do you use Bluetooth terin
6:11
first you pair the two devices the
6:14
normal way you pair two devices you go
6:16
to your settings Bluetooth scan for
6:18
devices enable Bluetooth on the other
6:20
phone scan for devices you see it tap
6:23
pair enter the uh passcode you pair the
6:28
devices
6:29
then you come here and you tap on the
6:34
Bluetooth tether ring toggle and it
6:38
comes on anytime the two devices are
6:41
connected now you can share your
6:42
internet sometimes after toggling this
6:46
the two devices don't connect
6:47
automatically they've been paired but
6:49
they don't connect automatically you go
6:51
to your Bluetooth settings and tap on
6:53
the name of that device and they'll
6:56
connect and voila you're sharing your
6:59
mobile data with the other device using
7:04
Bluetooth so now you never ever have to
7:08
be stranded
7:11
again if you unable to share via Wi-Fi
7:14
hotspot you can share via USB
7:18
testing or you can share via
7:23
Bluetooth three different ways to share
7:26
your mobile data your cellular data with
7:29
another
7:35
device yes it works for both Android and
7:40
iPhone give it a try when next you are
7:43
in such a situation and let me know how
7:46
it worked out i've used all three
7:49
options at multiple times to get the job
7:52
done and they work quite
7:56
[Music]
8:02
well i'll see you in my next video
