Loving this new season, especially episode four
0:03
What a doozy. Four is great. It's like a dance. It is
0:08
It's an accomplished. Great. We love to hear it. Have you seen the episodes? Yeah. Okay, good
0:12
Well, I watched our first. I'm waiting to watch the full episodes when they come out
0:17
It is fun. Exactly. Yeah. But I had to make sure it looked okay. Yeah. We have to make him pay for trying to kill us
0:23
That's right. Life and death has always been for it to decide. He's not one of us
0:28
I'm sticking my neck out for you do not make me look stupid
0:32
I'm gonna have to do this right I'm gonna have a trial
0:42
it's funny in this episode you get to see a bunch of teens
0:45
like trying to do a trial and it's Natalie doesn't know the terminology and she's like
0:51
she's like that's bogus so little things like that were fun to do where it's like it's not
0:57
too adult. It was really interesting shooting that episode because when we
1:01
when a lot of us read it on paper we're like woof there's a lot going
1:05
on here and how do you translate that when someone's on the stand and how you're feeling
1:11
and I think Jennifer Morrison did an incredible job of directing that episode of
1:17
showing where someone slightly shifts sides when they go get water and cutting to
1:23
someone when maybe they're being swayed another way. I think it's really cool when you have an actor directing, because it's just like a different
1:31
aspect where she really knows how to talk to us in the actor terms I guess you know what I mean But also knows how to shift her terminology per person because it is a very psychological thing where it like you learn how each person takes notes
1:46
And she was really good at shifting that because she's an actor. Yeah, yeah, which is really cool
1:51
And also inspirational to watch. I was like, hell yeah, let's go
1:55
Lottie is a tough one, I think because she, I don't think she thinks that Ben did it
2:01
But by the end of the trial, she sees a reflection of something in Shauna that she has needed or wanted or think is pointing her in the right direction that I think she's willing to sacrifice back
2:19
She just becomes so desperate this season to just like find herself, find some meaning or for like whatever has happened in the last couple of seasons to make sense or like the death of Harvey to mean something
2:34
Natalie's suppressing a lot. She feels always like an outcast. And I think she and Misty are the only ones that are supporting Ben and feel that he wasn't the one that started the fire
2:48
So it is, it's hard, especially against Shauna, seeing that she's gaining all this power
2:54
seeing where she's coming into in this position where she's almost already overtaking Natalie as the leader
3:02
My queen. Do you feel that right now? That's f***ing hard. Travis, you know, when you watch him throughout this whole thing
3:09
there's no way you're sitting there thinking that he believes it. Like, you can just feel his, like
3:13
You can feel his slight disdain for what happening in front of him and that really interesting because of how quickly he flips right at the end which just kind of shows that he has one outlet in the group
3:30
It's Lottie. That's the honest truth at this point, you know, with what's happened with Natalie and Travis and how that's become so distant
3:37
Lottie being his one kind of, one of the only people he communicates with even now
3:40
I think Lottie has so much sway for Travis, So, yeah, it was really hard to play the entire thing through knowing that he felt a certain way
3:47
and knowing that all it took, that's how much power she has over him in some way
3:51
All it takes is one flip for him to flip. And I think Lottie feels that pressure of knowing that when she throws her hand up
3:58
people are also going to follow and it's going to change the decision
4:03
Yeah. I think that Misty's going through so much. I mean, the love of her life is on trial and..
4:07
Oh, I love. And also, like, there's so much of Misty that I think wants Natalie's approval
4:16
She wants everybody's approval, but, like, right now Natalie's the leader, and she's so drawn to power
4:22
She's like a bug to light when it comes to power, you know? And so with Natalie, it's like, I think she also thinks that her and Natalie are true friends
4:31
And, I mean, I think so. And so, you know, it's like when she kind of gets this feeling like not only is this important, but it's important to Natalie, too, there's more at stake
4:48
And I think that Misty takes her role extremely seriously and truly believes that Stephen just did such a beautiful job I know Yeah and so that was I mean so easy to perform back to because he does such a beautiful job as such you know I know Yeah and so that was I mean so easy to perform back to because he does such a beautiful job of you know
5:06
A, being irritating to Misty of like that he's not giving anything. And then when he does of just this like
5:12
emotional performance, that's, yeah. Yeah, I got emotional. It was a show-stopping monologue
5:18
I mean, look, one of the big things for me this season was there has to be something more there
5:23
than just wanting to survive, right? Initially, on the surface, I know it just seems like he wants to survive
5:29
but for me, that just wasn't quite enough. I think that Ben still feels this deep-seated responsibility
5:34
for these young women and how their lives are going to turn out
5:38
So one of the things that I kind of worked with just internally this season was the idea that Ben never really got an opportunity
5:43
to become the person that he probably actually is. He spent so much of his life hiding behind a mask, behind a facade, behind a wall
5:52
and I think ultimately he didn't want to see these young women follow that same path
5:57
follow that same trajectory. So privately, like one of the things that I kind of ruminated on was like
6:02
okay, other than just wanting to stay alive, is there a deeper purpose here
6:06
And that purpose kind of became great. Whatever I have to do to get these women to actually become the people that they deserve to become
6:13
the people that they are going to become, for better or worse, right? Maybe that means that they become monsters
6:17
Maybe that means that they become senators or presidents or whatever the case may be
6:22
But whatever I'm doing, it is with that purpose of like getting these girls to actually recognize who they are and kind of owning who they are as they as they move forward in their lives
6:32
I can take it. You never could
