0:00
hello everyone and welcome to another
0:01
video now in this video I'm going to be
0:04
talking about a hard drive not being
0:05
detected by the computer you turn it on
0:08
you see this red CPU light or a red CPU
0:11
light starts flashing and you think "Oh
0:13
no what's going wrong?" Well do I panic
0:16
because there are a few simple fixes
0:18
that you can try to get things back up
0:20
and running in no time at all of course
0:23
the first thing that we should do is
0:24
look inside our PC case and check all of
0:28
it could be something as simple as a
0:29
loose SATA cable or a loose power cable
0:33
it may even be something as simple as a
0:34
drive that s not seated correctly within
0:37
the SATA connector so you know that's
0:40
the easy part out of the way and let's
0:42
say that doesn't solve the problem what
0:44
else can we try well assuming that you
0:46
have more than one SATA port on your
0:47
motherboard you could try moving your
0:49
hard drive over to another SATA port if
0:52
your motherboard has two or three of
0:53
these connections try moving it from one
0:56
to the other just to eliminate any
0:58
potential problems with the port itself
1:01
and let's say that still doesn't work
1:03
well the next thing that we can do is
1:05
take one of the cables that we used for
1:06
our hard drive and plug it into the
1:08
motherboard and then instead of plugging
1:11
the other end into the drive we ll plug
1:14
it into another drive that we know works
1:17
or another hard drive that we have lying
1:19
around if this still doesn't work then
1:22
the cable itself might be faulty or the
1:25
connection at the motherboard itself
1:26
might be loose or not working properly
1:29
you can try switching the cable
1:31
completely if you have a spare or just
1:33
ensuring that it's pushed in firmly at
1:35
both ends sometimes a little bit of
1:38
force is required to get these cables to
1:40
push in properly and it's always worth
1:42
checking both ends the connection at the
1:45
motherboard and the connection at the
1:47
drive itself another thing that you can
1:49
do is go back into the BIOS and check
1:51
whether the drive is enabled sometimes
1:54
especially on older motherboards you
1:56
need to go into the BIOS and actually
1:57
enable the Solder ports it sounds
2:00
strange but this is something that
2:02
you'll see on some older motherboards
2:04
now this will differ from board to board
2:07
so you may need to consult your
2:08
motherboard's manual to find out exactly
2:10
where to look but it's definitely worth
2:12
checking if you do have an older
2:14
motherboard then it's also worth
2:16
checking all of the connections and
2:18
making sure that they read all nice and
2:20
secure now if your hard drive is making
2:22
a lot of clicking noises when you try to
2:24
start your computer then this is almost
2:26
certainly the drive itself the clicking
2:28
that you hear is the readr head trying
2:30
to access the drive but it's either
2:32
physically or electronically unable to
2:34
do so this could be because the drive
2:37
has failed or because there is some sort
2:38
of physical obstruction if you do take
2:41
your hard drive out of the caddy or the
2:42
enclosure that it's in if it's in one of
2:45
those external enclosures that you plug
2:46
into the USB make sure that there's no
2:49
obstruction such as a fingernail or a
2:51
piece of fluff preventing the arm from
2:52
moving freely if you can hear the
2:55
clicking noise even after removing the
2:57
drive from its enclosure then it's
2:59
likely that the drive itself has failed
3:01
and you will have to replace it so
3:04
hopefully one of those tips has helped
3:05
you if it has leave a like on the video
3:09
leave a dislike if it hasn't subscribe
3:12
if you haven't done so already
